As much as I love thinking about LP Marty and the differences that would have been his life/youth and subsequently the reasons he ended up hanging around with Doc in the first place, there's such a special place in my heart for TP Marty and that very unique relationship that he and Doc formed that bordered on father/son, well beyond the simple best friend, mentor/mentee dynamic.
Yeah I've rambled about this before, but there'd be no LP improved timeline without Doc and everything he'd done and no, I'm not just talking about the time machine even giving him the chance to go back to '55.
I just, I think about how a little deeper into their friendship, Doc would come home from having to run errands or walk the dog and Marty would just be there, having let himself in. Doc told him where he'd be able to find the key to the place, after all. It wasn't just like Marty started just breaking in. But it was a place Marty could just run off to or hang out at and whether or not something was on his mind or it wasn't and he just wanted to spend time there with his friend, whether or not he needed to work through something with him, the garage was just always open, available, safe.
And if Doc didn't take Einie with him, Einie would be home to greet and shower affection upon Marty, and I imagine that smart as that dog is, he, like Doc, also learned how to read the kid's moods. Marty's sad? Einie's laying all his weight on his lap or his shoulder in the most comforting way a dog can. Crying? No we're not going to tell Doc, Einie's probably licking his face and getting rid of all the evidence.
Like god, that kid is so sweet and bright and impressive and he got more love and support in TP in a damned garage next to Burger King from a disgraced (nuclear) physicist and his dog than at home/school/anywhere else (save for Jen).
