Today was the day that David was going to ask Lara to prom... But things didn’t go as planned...

Lara kept deflecting and changing the subject when it came to their relationship until she finally had enough and spoke up.

Lara: I don’t think I can do this anymore. You lied to me.

David: When? Is this about Clementine babysitting at my house? I was worried about that... I don’t know why mom hired her, but I swear we haven’t talked since—

Lara: This isn’t about her, David. This is about your family.

David: Wait... My family?

Lara: You never told me your family was deaf. I felt like an idiot! What else have you been lying about? I can’t trust you.

David: But I didn’t lie? I just—

Lara: Didn’t tell me? You know... Hiding the truth is the same thing. Why didn’t you tell me?

David averted his gaze, ashamed.

David: I was afraid you wouldn’t be interested anymore... If you knew it was genetic...

Lara: David... That’s something that’s a part of your life that you can’t just hide. Why did you want me to meet your parents then? So they could tell me for you?

David: I didn’t think about that... I just wanted their approval. I really like you. In fact, I think I love you.

Lara: Then why didn’t you tell me?

David: Why does it matter?

Lara: It matters because you won’t let me in. You won’t show me who you really are. I feel like you’re only showing me what you want to show and I don’t actually know you. That’s a really big part of your life that I would have loved to learn about... Maybe even be a part of...

David: Then I’ll let you in.

Lara: You’ve done nothing to prove that you’ll actually do that.

David: Let me prove it then.

Lara: You still don’t get it, you already have. You’re still doing it... You’re just telling me what I want to hear so I won’t leave. I’m sorry, but it’s over. I don’t want this kind of relationship.
