"Rebus is an iconic Scottish character, and given the heritage of the novels, I think we're definitely representing the world of Rebus for a start. We're representing Scotland too, and certainly the East coast, Fife and Edinburgh; it was important to us, the authenticity of it all. It's been very important to us to preserve the language, the characters and their own Scottishness and sense of place. It was one of the things I was drawn to, how Greg had written the characters and the language in unashamed Scottish fashion - with dialect, colloquialisms, and bad language. I felt these people were speaking with a very true voice."
