Outgrowled – Growlers drop preseason opener

The Newfoundland Growlers played their inaugural preseason game at the Stephenville Dome in Stephenville on Thursday evening. They were defeated by visiting team, Brampton Beast, 4-2. Both teams are back on the ice on Friday in Deer Lake, NL.

The First Chapter

Within one body two entities grew. One female one male. One could not expect such a sudden birth. Complications did not cease within time. Where the male fell short, the female made up for.

The physician could not sugar code the inevitable. The male did not have much time. As the mother wept, so did the father.

Whispers in the dark were heard. The male grew strong instead lie there comatose. It wasn’t long until the mother and father could hear the cry of their baby boy.

The First Chapter

  How to begin?

Where does one start writing about one’s origins?

It begs the question, where did I begin…

Every atom I breathe, drink, eat, every atom I am, every atom, was once celestial

For at some point in history, I made the stars

But amidst the resounding orchestra of causes I am not the lead guitar

Not even so significant that I could live under the rhythm as bass

Could not have beat the drums, for life has never followed my pace

Not a cause, just a ripple;

The emanations of booms and busts,

A flying particle from a crashing gyre,

Smoke from a dwindling fire

So my earliest memories are of ashes

It was after the flames had settled that I realized time passes

I was introduced by hunger, by light, by rain

It was these things that taught me the season’s change
