okay dont get me wrong, i dont think FFXIV is a bad game, but as a long-time GW2 player, I am constantly baffled at how FFXIV is considered a superior MMO. like im still gonna play FFXIV because I am, for the most part, enjoying myself enough to justify the cost of the subscription. but damn, i really think GW2 has spoiled me.

like, the only major thing that FFXIV has a leg up on compared to GW2 is the social aspects, like going to venues or finding folks to talk to, which is one of the things the game is (in)famous for. but at that point, its not the game drawing me back in, so much as the fact that it has a large enough community to support a thriving digital nightclub scene.

#kanny says things #gw2 #ffxiv #sorry if this is like. a controversial opinion.#but ive been having some pretty Rough(tm) experiences while playing FFXIV's story quests lately #that ive never had in GW2 at any point #there are definitely things FFXIV does better dont get me wrong #the crafting and gathering minigames are more interesting and the glamour dresser system is great (though i wish they'd add more slots)#but i swear its like... so many mechanics in FFXIV feel... /hostile/ to the player #and thats on top of the players themselves being hostile too #getting real tired of queueing up with egotistical mentors with sticks so far up their asses that they make the seattle space needle blush #social community? pretty damn good. ive made a lot of friends at the venues and nightclubs ive gone to in ffxiv #the actual game itself? i must have the worst luck in the world or something. i reported SIX separate people today for toxic behavior #and i only ran 3 dungeons today. so let that sink in for a bit.
