Amatonormativity has destroyed so many people's understanding and acceptance of themselves, and it's heartbreaking.

Yes, it is normal to be in your 20s, 30s, or older and not have lost your virginity, had a first kiss, or a partner. It is normal to say that you aren't ready for those things, too! It is normal if your life doesn't follow the "college graduate -> engagement -> buying a home -> 2.5 kids and a dog" trajectory that so many people have idealized.

So many people associate maturity with losing your virginity, or having a first kiss, or a serious relationship, and I think that's a dangerous association. Maturity isn't gained through those things, and you don't have to have those experiences to be considered "mature" or "grown." It is not a bad thing to go at your pace. Nobody else can live your life but you. If you end up having those experiences, that's great! But it should be done because you want to experience them, not because you feel "broken" and "immature" without them.

I never meant to target you and I'm sorry you felt that way. You properly tag everything and adhere to the "don't like, don't read" rule. I don't follow you nor you follow, because we simply don't vibe together and that's okay.

But there are posts that are on the more "innocent" side that do represent fat people as a joke and it's like they don't even realize it because it's something so well ingrained in our fatphobic society.

For example, all the characters are having fun except the fat one or referring to someone as "twice his size" (like... If they want to say he's huge, they should just say it, not imply that there's a "right size" for someone to be).

I don't think authors should censor themselves, just acknowledge the role they play in how fat characters are perceived by the community they write for.

First of all, since you obviously haven’t blocked me, you could have come to me via direct message. This is not a topic that needs to be brought out into the public eye even more than it already is. I have worked with anons before, I would have been the last person to reveal who you are. You could have made a trash account to message me in dm’s, but since you didn’t, I will reply to you here.

I want to make one thing clear. This will be my last response on the topic. If you do not like me as a member of the community please use the block button and filter me out, because I will stay. I have many friends here, and know that many people enjoy my content. Just because a small handful of people don’t appreciate dark themes in fiction, the contents of which they can easily protect themselves from, won’t make me falter.

Now, I want to debunk this ask because your ‘apology’ actually made me very upset.

I know you don’t mean it when you say you are sorry because you’re backpedaling on what you’ve told your friends and it really rubs me the wrong way. You could have owned up to your mistakes and apologized sincerely like others had but you continue to play victim and excuse your behaviour with tales of your own trauma, projecting your own insecurities onto my blog and thus hating me.

I know for a fact that you despise my blog, especially my writing, because you do not like how “obviously skinny people write about weight gain.”

I couldn’t be any further from skinny.

I don’t mind sharing my actual weight, which has actually gotten worse due to COVID. I weigh 490lbs. I am morbidly obese. I have always been morbidly obese. For you to come and be “nitpicky” about a genre you don’t even enjoy? Why are you even reading my fics then?

The way I write about obese people, their struggles with literally everything… that comes from real life experience. I write this to share embarrassing and exhausting daily life tasks I personally struggle with.

A skinny person would never write some of the stuff I do, because they simply don’t know. They don’t know how scary it is to hear the line “we are going to a restaurant.” They don’t know how scary it is to go into that new restaurant, scan the chairs and think “Shit, am I gonna fit? Is the chair gonna creak? Is there enough space for the next table? What if I won’t fit?” A thin person doesn’t have to think this way.

And, let me tell you something else. Yes, I agree. The world is fatphobic.

In one of my recent posts I talked about movies and shows where they make fun of fat people because I hate it. Because it is REAL LIFE. And I am all for the body positivity movement and I do believe that all bodies are beautiful, because they are.

You do not know me personally.

And that leads to my next point. If you personally have issues with the phrase “twice my size”, then that is on you. And guess what? I cannot count how often I’ve heard lines like that my whole life.

“Oh wow two people would fit in one of your pant legs.”

“Wow, you are so fat, I could use your pants as a tent.”

So trust me, I know. I KNOW. But anon, this is the important part for me. Everyone processes trauma differently.

Inked ch3? Or literally any story I have written with a fat character being forced, insulted and talked down to like they’re dumb? That’s what I have been living with my entire life. Most of these stories, some obviously more extreme than how I had experienced them since it’s fiction, have been recordings of trauma I have went through.

My own dad force fed me. Forced me to eat food and gain weight. My first boyfriend was a feeder that manipulated me into gaining more weight and took measurements. Called me pig names and abused me. Hit me, manipulated me into having s** with him and then let all of his fantasies out on me.

I don’t make this shit up. I hate my brain for being so twisted now, that I actually find it hot and arousing. It’s weird. I know, but that’s how it is.

I’ve also never had friends in school. Not even kindergarten. Why? Because my “fat incased body could spread like a virus.” I was being bullied like JK was in Pondus.

I had hot water thrown at me, got glue put on my seats and hair, had my hair ripped out and even got a cigarette burn mark on my arm. Just because I was fat. Just because of how my body was shaped.

I was strangled and locked into a small locker for a night. I was almost killed for running away from my abusive dad from his car and had to listen to things like, “You are going to die when you are 30. No one will ever love you and your body.” That I have trust issues now and am paranoid about everything and everyone.

Those dark stories. I use those dark stories to try to work through my trauma. And yes, it may be absurd to you. It may disgust you, what I write. But sadly, most of it? Most of it really happened to me. To me and other people I’ve talked to as a friend or seen online. Most of what I write will be dark because the human species is made up of terrible creatures.

Fatphobia is an important topic, and I am happy the media has been slowly getting better about it, that people accept us more. But my writing is how I work with my trauma. If I can make fictional characters feel the same things I had to feel, that makes me feel better.

And I’m not hurting anyone with it. So how is it wrong?

I do not support any of this behaviour in real life. I never bullied anyone, I always try to speak up for my friends and tell people if they are being assholes. Because I hate them too and it makes me angry when good people get shit when they do nothing but breathe.

And how @pudgecuddles already said. I don't need you to advocate for body positivity and all that shit when you go out of your way to bully someone that may have experienced the same shit you have. I do not know you or what you went through in your life, but I am sorry. I’m sorry you feel like my stories aren’t okay to write, but this is how I work on my trauma and I need you to respect that.

I’ve said this before. We don’t have to be friends, or even talk to each other.

Just be neutral.

Block me. Filter me out. Pretend I don't exist. But, whatever you do, don’t make posts that call me out while making it obvious you’re talking about me, with the cover that you are advocating against fatphobia. That’s got a name. Cyber-bullying.

Have you hurt me with those posts? Yes you have, but I’ve never wanted bad blood. As you may have noticed, it wasn’t me that made a post. It was my good friend. Because I told her how exhausting it was and she knew about the posts back then.

I have a good idea of who you are.

I remember you.

But I kept my mouth shut. Because this community is my home and the last thing I wanted was for the people who like both of our types of content to feel like they have to choose sides.

In the end, we all rub one out to fat gay boys in a band. No user is better than the rest, and if there are topics you do not enjoy, there is a button for it. No need to drag everyone into it with posts. It’s exhausting and irritating.

Now, I do not accept your apology because you lied to me and I also do not feel like you meant it sincerely knowing what I know now after reading some dm’s. But I also won’t sit here and start shit.

I do not believe that anyone deserves to be bullied like that and talked down in official posts. It happened before with a friend of mine and you probably remember that I did speak up about it.... But apparently no one learned from it. I really hope this time you do.

Insult me and shit talk me all you want in dm’s, but don’t do it publicly. No one deserves that kind of hate or passive aggressiveness. No one. Since you sound like someone that went through a lot of shit too, you should know better. You should know how it feels to be bullied and what damage it can cause.

So, you either trash talk me in dm’s from now on so that I do not see it, or you block me. The latter of which would be the more mature thing to do. The more humane thing to do. Because talking behind someone’s back is just as bad.

Again, I don’t know why you felt like it was necessary to send me an ask with lies in it when I got screenshot proof of something else you have said/issues with, so don’t backpedal on me. I know Hun. I know already.

At least stick to what you said and actually apologize or, if you can’t, just block me.

Anything Goes - July Fanfic Challenge Day 1

Author’s Note: Here we go, we’re doing this. I’m super excited to participate in this challenge and put out all of the WIP and ideas I’ve been collecting in my head for a while. I hope to use this to write different pairings I haven’t before (including side ships) and experiment with different writing styles and ideas so please leave feedback on whether I should continue with certain things or not! 

Fair warning, I may fall behind in this and if I do, bare with me! I will be doing most of the prompts and committing to the ones I’ve planned, I promise. They may just be later than the day they’re supposed to be out. 

I’ll also be compiling a specific master list just for this challenge that I will post at the end so that if you want to go back and read them, they’ll all be in one place.

Book/Pairing: Bloodbound (Adrian x MC)

Summary: While they are visiting her parents in Georgia, Isabel shows Adrian her favorite spot to enjoy the humid summer nights.

The pine trees and tall grasses towered over Isabel as she carefully walked through the path the young high schoolers and twenty-somethings continued to maintain in secret from the older generations. It was a little overgrown at the moment and she had to use some effort to keep the branches at bay as they walked.

“Are you going to tell me what this is for?” Adrian asked her, his voice a little hoarse from exertion. 

She gave him a coy smile. “Of course I will...when we get there.” This elicited a groan. “What? You surprise me all the time. Now it’s my turn for once.”

He rolled his eyes but a similar grin soon appeared. She knew that he could never be annoyed at her for long. Luckily for him, the feeling was mutual on her end as well. 

“Can you at least tell me how much further it is?” 

“That, I can do. We should be just about there actually. Definitely less than five minutes,” she told him. 

Her memory should have been fuzzy having not been there in a year or two, but the mental blueprint was still just as fine-tuned as when she frequented the favorite party spot back in her high school and college days. Sure enough, her estimate was spot on and the glimmer of water could soon be seen through the cornrows. 

“Ah, here it is. And there’s no one here. Perfect.” 

The end of the path revealed a large clearing in the forest that led to a small lake on one side. A pine tree stood on the edge with a rope that hung from one of its branches closest to the water. The view was picturesque with the silvery glow from the full moon and the flickering yellow of the lightning bugs providing the landscape enough illumination to make out its silhouette. 

“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” she commented, breathing in the fresh air.

A wave of nostalgia hit Isabel which surprised her. New York was her dream city and she never wanted to live anywhere else, it was where she was finally realizing her ambitions, getting her need for adrenaline pumping adventure. Yet, she couldn’t help feeling that out here far away from the lights of town that this was what sang to her heart. 

This was her home too. 

Adrian nodded in agreement, his analytical mind still taking everything in. “It definitely is. I’m assuming this is what all that is for?”

He gestured to the large bundle of supplies in her hands, including a blanket and a picnic basket.

She nodded. “Usually, this place is a little more rowdy, since it’s the popular underage party spot. Tonight, however, we got lucky.”

She got busy setting up camp and soon the grass was transformed, creating the romantic atmosphere Isabel hoped it would. Sitting down on the blanket, she patted the space next to her. 

“Impatient much?” he quipped before taking a seat. 

“Hey, it’s almost impossible to get some alone time while we’re here, especially with my parents’ rule,” she remarked. “I don’t want to waste a second of what little we do have.” 

His lips twitched back up into a smile. “I can’t argue with that.”

It was one of the few things her religious parents expected of Isabel, her brother Gabriel, and her cousin Delilah. They didn’t really care that they all weren’t virgins but, if they had a partner staying over, they couldn’t share a bedroom until they were engaged. 

While Isabel liked bending with the rules, this one she strictly adhered to since they respected that she was less religious than they were. And it wasn’t the first time they put family over church---that was when her brother Gabe had come out and they chose to be kicked out of their previous one for supporting him. 

Now, outside of the home, they had no qualms. In fact, her mother helped her in the kitchen with the food earlier in the afternoon while Adrian was out with her father. 

It didn’t take long for her to serve the small meal and seeing that the method her mother suggested to keep it warm worked, it gave her a satisfied feeling. It was also full of a mix of traditional southern recipes that had been passed down for generations.

She watched in anticipation as Adrian took the first bite. 

“What do you think? Is it good?”  

He nodded, holding up a finger while he finished chewing. “Good? Isabel, it’s fantastic. Please tell me you have recipes for everything. Especially the potato salad.”

Isabel let out a breath she didn’t realize she’d been holding. But then again, she’d been like this the entire trip. Deep down she couldn’t help worrying that he would somehow decide her small town roots weren’t good enough. And every time he’d proved her silly little insecurities wrong. 

“We do, we stopped depending on the oral tradition with my great-grandmother. I’ll have my mama write copies of them before we leave.”

They continued to talk intermittently as the food was slowly eaten, including a peach cobbler dessert. 

Sitting back afterward, Adrian sighed, “Okay, I am definitely gaining some weight from this trip,” he commented with a laugh.

She examined his slim and muscular figure which was on display more than usual with his casual t-shirt and jeans and bit her lip. He definitely needed to get out of the suit more often. Not only was this a little more flattering, but he’d also been much happier and carefree too. 

“Adrian, I’ve been to the gym with you, I think you’ll be fine,” she replied. 

“I’m glad for your vote of confidence. Although, I might sweat some of it off with the heat. It really doesn’t cool down in the summer, here does it?

Isabel shook her head. “Not really. In the morning it’s okay but, that’s as cool as it gets.”

A comfortable silence descended on them and her gaze drifted over to the lake a few feet away. Suddenly, a tiny gasp escaped her lips and her eyes brightened which Adrian noticed almost immediately. 

“What is it? I know that look,” he inquired, his eyebrows rising off his forehead. By now he was all too familiar with her impulsive ideas. 

Her smile grew as she stood up. “I know a fun way to cool off.”

Without another word she grabbed the bottom of her tank top and pulled it over her head, revealing the black bra underneath. She thanked herself for wearing something that wouldn’t become translucent when wet. 

“Isabel...” Adrian’s eyes widened as they roamed her disrobed form. “What...what are you doing?”

She answered as her shorts joined her shirt in a pile on the blanket. “Skinny dipping of course!”

It was an activity that she was practically an expert at, having perfected it in high school at the countless parties held there.

Throwing him a wink, Isabel went and dipped her toe in the water’s edge to test the temperature and smiled when she found it to be just right. Cool enough to be refreshing without being too cold. Then, she proceeded to take a few steps back and leap into the lake with a carefree giggle. 

Seconds later she emerged back up at the water’s surface. Looking back, she saw Adrian on the blanket still trying to process her spontaneous action. 

“You are welcome to join me you know,” she said teasingly. “The fish won’t mind or bite your toes off if you’re worried about them.”

She watched as his face became conflicted. The youthful spirit in him clearly wanted to throw caution to the wind, but the more mature, business side was holding him back. 

“We won’t get caught will we?” 

Isabel scoffed loudly, holding back a laugh. “Adrian, no we’re not in New York. We’re five miles out of town, we’ll be fine.”

“I don’t know,” he replied. “What if I want to enjoy the view from here?”

His flirtatious remark had it’s desired effect and she felt her cheeks become warm. He wasn’t getting off the hook though.

Putting her hands on her hips, she pleaded, “Oh come on!” Then, a sly grin appeared. She knew exactly which words she needed to say. She dropped her lips into an exaggerated pout. 

“Do it for me?”

And just like that, he broke. 

“Well, if you’re that insistent,” he commented before beginning the effort to strip out of his outer layers. 

A victorious smile graced her features. 

Soon, the only thing left was his underwear and she whistled her approval. Instead of her quick entrance, he sat down on the grass before easing himself into the water. 

“Okay, you were right, this is pretty nice,” he admitted with a sigh. 

“See, I know what I’m talking about.”

Another pause fell on them but once again the silence proved a delightful change of pace from the always noisy and frantic city life they were so used to. 

After several minutes of casual swimming, a mischevious grin appeared on Adrian’s face. 

“Wha--?”

Before she could finish, she felt a rush of cool water douse her followed by a deep, throaty laugh from its sender a few feet away.

“Hey!” Isabel shrieked in protest, though her smile soon gave away her true feelings. 

He gave her an innocent shrug in response. “You’re not the only one with a trick up their sleeve.”

She raised a challenging eyebrow. “Oh? In that case...” 

Gathering up as much strength as she could muster, she sent a massive wave back to him which started a splash war between them that lasted a little while.

Finally, they both called for a truce.

“I don’t think I’ve had this much fun in a while,” Adrian said with a light chuckle. “Thank you for this.”

“You’re welcome. You may have fancy restaurants and all the luxury wealth can offer but this right here, this is priceless.” Isabel settled into a relaxing back float which gave her a perfect view of the clear night sky. 

He gave her a nod joining her stargaze. She wished that they could stay out there all night, camp out until morning. But, her mother would be worried if they didn’t come back soon. So, as she remembered the different constellations she’d memorized over years coming here in her childhood, she soaked in what limited time they did have until they would have to go back to civilization.

Vale of Eternal Blossoms - Neal Acree

I knelt quietly in the palace gardens, praying to any gods who would listen. I was sending off my daily pleas to the astrals and anyone else listening; I prayed for the health of the three princess elects, and their consorts and children. I prayed for the health of my mother, and for the health of the royal families of Lucis and Tenebrae.

Littered around me were piles of flowers and herbs that I had begun bundling either to be put on display throughout the various rooms in the palace or to be dried in the apothecary. The afternoon sun kissed my pale skin, offering some colour to my cheeks. I twirled a blue flower between my fingers, thinking of the little boy I had left behind in Lucis seven years ago, with those big sapphire blue eyes and messy black hair.

Seeing the prince grow through the dreamscape was hard. As Noctis grew older, he began to seek me out less, making our visits few and far between. I hadn't seen him since he started high school this year, his hair trimmed to a short length to adhere to school rules. He had slowly begun to shoot up in height, easily passing my five foot two and continuing to grow.

Communicating in the waking world wasn't any better though. Letters between Goryeo and Insomnia took weeks to get from the sender to the destination, nevermind how difficult it was to find the time to sit down and write a letter. I had sent a response off to Noctis a month ago, but with the exam season just around the corner, it was hard to say when I'd get a reply.

I sighed heavily, turning back to the flowers and herbs I had yet to sort through. Blades of cut grass clung to the dark green fabric of my skirt as I picked through the stocks and bound them together with twine.

I had become so immersed in my task that I let out a small scream when a pair of hands wrapped around my waist, pulling me back against a firm chest.

"You need to be more alert when you're alone, jagiya." a husky voice whispered into my ear, making me fight to turn around and hit my assailant on the arm.

Orion gave me a toothy grin, chuckling as I huffed at him before replying.

"And you shouldn't go around scaring court ladies when they're working. You're lucky I didn't have a knife," I said, poking his chest as I glared at his tanned face.

"You wouldn't stab me, you value my company too much." he stated cockily, pushing a strand of hair away from my face.

"I may value your company and friendship, however I do not appreciate when you disrupt my work." I said as I turned away to continue bundling up the herbs.

I had met Orion when I was thirteen, and he was fifteen. I had been in the market that day running errands for my mother and he had been working at a fish stall that my family frequently purchased from. The older boy had talked my ear off the entire time I was at the stall, and asked after me in the following weeks.

Myung-Hee got it into her head about making a match between me and the half-galahdian boy, sending me down to the market for errands more often, usually to his father's fish stall for random things. Orion and I eventually became friends, spending the afternoons on the coast when we could both get away from our respective jobs.

In the three years that I had known him, Orion had swiftly changed from a boy into a man. As he inched closed to adulthood, his features began to appear sharper as baby fat melted away, and stubble covered his strong jaw. His long dark hair was adorned with braids and some strands bound together with leather strips, pulled back from his tanned face with the sides shaven. It was an attractive look for him, a beautiful blend of his mixed heritage involving both Galahdian and Goryean undertones.

And of course Orion wasn't the only one blooming into adulthood. I was experiencing puberty all over again, dealing with the rushes of forgotten hormones and rapid body changes. My body in this world wasn't too different from that of the one I had on Earth, save for minor differences in the finer details.

My skin was more golden despite how little time I spent in the sun, with my long dark hair falling to my lower back in a sea of black. My eyes were more upturned at the outer corners, my face fuller. My petite frame carried little to no curves, my breasts smaller than before, but I remained at my old height of five foot two.

In comparison, Orion towered over me even when sitting, his palm against the grass as he leaned towards me.

"When is the third princess planning on relieving you of your duties, court lady Han-Farron?" the man asked, smiling roguishly as he came closer.

My brown gaze flicked up to meet his own, taking in the mischievous glimmer that lurked within them, sending my chest aflutter.

"Princess Eun-Byeol usually dismisses me shortly after nightfall, unless she requires me further." I replied, tucking herbs and flowers into a basket for travel from the gardens to the palace.

"I'll wait for you then…" Orion whispered, leaning in even closer as he tucked a blossom behind my ear before swiftly departing.

A small smile graced my lips as I watched him go, my fingers delicately touching the blossom. I gathered up what remained of the flowers before lifting the basket as I rose and hurried off in the opposite direction, my dark green skirt fluttering in the wind.

The stone pathway wound through the massive garden, intersecting with other paths and branching off at various points as it led up towards the palace. The green of the garden soon gave way to the red pillars of the palace, the high walls and soldiers separating the garden from the courtyard beyond.

As soon as I entered, I was surrounded by the people of the palace. Court ladies and servants milled about, no part of the palace was silent as they carried out their duties. I walked among them, heading for the kitchen to drop off the various herbs and flowers so the could be delivered to the appropriate heads of staff.

Upon entering the kitchen, I was directed by court lady Oh to place the basket on the long wooden table that stretched across the kitchen. After words, I approached the older woman, head bowed respectfully as she handed me a tray of tea and rice cakes.

"Deliver this to third princess Eun-Byeol's chambers, she is taking her evening tea with the first princess Gyeong-Hui. Do not return until you are dismissed." court lady Oh ordered in a stern tone, no different from usual.

I accepted the tray with a small nod and a quiet, "Yes, lady Oh," before departing from the kitchens and making my way across the palace. The chambers of my lady, third princess Eun-Byeol, was farthest from the kitchens, prompting me to stride quickly as the air chilled with the slow onset of evening.

The guards posted outside my lady's chambers opened the doors at my approach, allowing me entry to the receiving room where the two princesses sat talking.

"Ah, lady Han-Farron. You've returned from the gardens I see, and with tea and cakes." came princess Eun-Byeol's bell-like voice as I placed the tray on the table, setting the tea pot and rice cakes between the royals.

"Yes, your highness. Court lady Oh believed that rice cakes would be suitable for the first and third princesses." I answered respectfully, my eyes directed towards the floor as my hands pressed against my abdomen as I withdrew from the table.

"A good decision on her part." Princess Gyeong-Hui confirmed as she selected a cake from the plate, "Now, my dear, how are you adjusting to being a personal court lady to princess Eun-Byeol? I know this must be rather different for you." the elder princess inquired, her voice weathered by age.

"The third princess has been nothing but kind to me, your highness. She doesn't ask too much of me and is fair in her orders." came my response as the two princesses continued with their evening tea.

"Good. You may be a lower station than her, but you are still a member of the Han clan and my grand-daughter. It's is an honour for princess Eun-Byeol to have a personal court lady of your standing." the first princess continued, taking a sip of her tea as she spoke.

"Of course, your highness." I answered simply, standing still against the wall behind the older woman.

The two princesses continued to speak with each other, allowing me time to let my mind wander. I thought back on when I became Eun-Byeol's personal lady, when I had just turned sixteen in this new life.

I had been a regular court lady before then, starting when I turned thirteen, learning etiquette and the skills that were necessary to serve and provide for a family. The Archbishop of Canterbury is in Denial on Islam and Immigration

It is quite strange watching our leaders wrestle with difficult concepts in public. The Archbishop of Canterbury, the leader of the Church of England, is no exception. When evidence is considered, the very idea of endorsing open border policies becomes laughable, but for one reason or another it is more common to ignore the blindingly obvious in favour of a comfortable abdication of responsibility. Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury has one hand on the truth, but the other is clamped firmly over his eyes to prevent him from seeing it. Fumbling around like a blind man, he attempts to describe problems facing British society using only what he can feel with his fingertips.

On the 23rd of February 2018, Welby contradicted his predecessor, Lord Williams, by stating that Sharia Law could not be incorporated into British society. Justin Welby said the Islamic rules are incompatible with Britain’s laws, which have developed over 500 years on the principles of a different culture.

He added that high levels of immigration from Muslim countries can:

"have an impact on the accepted pattern for choosing a partner, on assumed ages of maturity and sexual activity, and especially on issues of polygamy".

Th Archbishop is quite correct here. In his remarks, he recognizes that demographics dictate policy and social norms. He recognizes in his own book that large volumes of Islamic migration to the United Kingdom have led to challenges for the British norms as migrant populations seek to impose their own values. As I wrote in these pages a week ago,

Civic nationalism, the very societies around us, are intrinsically linked to the ethnicity of the people who described those common civic values.

Welby is still ruminating on this simple truth.

"The problem is reimagining Britain through values applied in action can only work where the narrative of the country is coherent and embracing. Sharia, which has a powerful and ancient cultural narrative of its own, deeply embedded in a system of faith and understanding of God, and thus especially powerful in forming identity, cannot become part of another narrative.

‘Accepting it in part implies accepting its values around the nature of the human person, attitudes to outsiders, the revelation of God, and a basis for life in law, rather than grace, the formative word of Christian culture."

The Archbishop recognizes that Islamic values are rooted in the people of that faith, just as British values are rooted in Britons. He knows by his own proclamation that reconciling Sharia with the British legal system is utterly impossible. He recognizes that the Muslim cultural norm of marrying children and possessing multiple wives cannot be simply argued away by adherence to British values of tolerance and politeness. Still, he stops short of suggesting the logical next step; that in the United Kingdom polygamy is illegal and therefore such Islamic recognized marriages should not be considered legal by the state. He does not suggest that, perhaps, people who live in the United Kingdom should be forced to obey the law when it comes to the legal age of marriage as defined by Britons themselves.

Welby sees the problem but refuses to say anything coherent about the solution. Worse, just two days later in an article in the Daily Mail, he reverses his position almost entirely to be one that parrots what are essentially socialist talking points about migration and economics.

"Welcoming strangers to our country and integrating them into our culture is important. We must be generous and allow ourselves to change with the newcomers and create a deeper, richer way of life. We also need to support strongly those poorer communities that have had high levels of immigration."

Archbishop Welby, could you explain to us more about how we should not allow Sharia Law in Britain, but also allow ourselves to change with the newcomers?

What deeper, richer way of life are you referring to? What does this deeper and richer Britain look like? What values are we adopting from other cultures? What values of our own are we giving up? There are so many questions that you are leaving unanswered because you refuse to engage your considerable intellect.

The Archbishop also recognizes that throughout the Western world immigrants concentrate in urban areas leading to fragmented and ghettoized communities divided on ethnic and religious lines. He says nothing about how those communities should be supported through their process of becoming culturally enriched, as the indigenous population is replaced and in many places becomes a minority or even absent entirely. What support can be given to working-class families who are driven from the places their ancestors have lived for centuries? Should we just tell them that they are actually experiencing a richer way of life now that their neighbors don't speak the same language or accept that women have rights?

The Archbishop calls for a "re-imagining" of Britain in the wake of Brexit, which he calls divisive. He rails against the lack of progress in the construction of new homes - a problem exacerbated by nearly a quarter of million new migrants arriving every year, and high birth rates from polygamous Muslim families. Is there such a need for new construction to house the Britons, whose birth-rate is in slight decline? No- the need for new houses is driven by the newcomers and their children. Why do we need the newcomers? To prop up the ailing neoliberal system which demands endless growth.

The Archbishop talks about cuts to the NHS, austerity and the creaking education system. He places the blame for this woe at the feet of the wealthy, who should pay more to support the infrastructure. Blaming greed and economics, he said

"In economics we welcome growth and disciplined and properly behaving markets. Equally, human dignity demands that economics is made for people, not people for economics. Unfettered greed is not merely distasteful, it can wreck lives and whole economies, as we have seen.

Jesus spoke of God’s love for the poor, and of woes for the wealthy and complacent. We are a country that can meet our needs and be generous on top to the rest of the world."

Without overtly endorsing the lunacy of the Labour Party, this is an endorsement of socialist economics. Disciplined and properly behaving markets that demand wealth redistribution? Interesting indeed, that it emerges that Jesus was a communist with a firm understanding of Marxist economic theory. It is true that it is the nature of British people to be polite and helpful and this has, to some extent, been the downfall of our nation as we have become so meek that to complain about being replaced in our own lands appears unseemly. Archbishop Welby correctly notes that the NHS, welfare and the education system are struggling but appears to believe that through a wave of the Holy Writ loaves and fishes will rain across the land emancipating the poor, so long as we raise taxes.

Strange then it is to inform the Archbishop that The Telegraph reported five years ago that each migrant to the United Kingdom -averaged across both EU and non-EU migrants- costs around £8000 each to the taxpayer.

"On average, each migrant consumes between £5,050 and £8,350 per year in state services, including benefits, healthcare, schooling and social services, the Home Office report found."

We know that migration from the continent of Europe proves to be a general net-gain for the country, so is it impolite to suggest that the ballpark figure of £8000 is in fact much higher for non-European migrants? Is it too much of a stretch to suggest that conflating Europeans in the UK with migrants from the Middle East and Africa serves only to obfuscate the issues at hand? Everything the Archbishop worries himself with -education, housing, healthcare- are parts of the British social infrastructure that are driven to breaking point by immigration. His solution is to tax the British people more to pay for the new arrivals- because we lack common British values, evidenced, in his mind, by the fact that a majority of Britons who could be bothered to vote want to leave the European Union. I did not know that British values include bending the knee to Guy Verhofstadt and Angela Merkel.

"Today in Britain we are suffering from a lack of such common values – values that have deep roots in our nation’s Christian history.

There will be great changes regardless of whether they are based on those Christian values or whether we just let things take their course.

But if it is the latter, then the consequences for the poor and needy will be dire, our pride in our country diminished and our contribution to the world stifled. We must use hope to heal for the future. We must be a warm, welcoming nation. We must never crush the new diversity and freedoms.

It is the duty of the Church and of all us to reimagine what it means to be this remarkable nation in the 21st Century."

What new freedoms would they be, Archbishop? The freedom to not be ourselves anymore? The freedom to hate ourselves for everything we are or were? The freedom to welcome our annihilation? That sounds like a suicide cult to me. If we truly are remarkable, is it not the case that there is something about British life that is worthy of protection and conservation for the generations that follow us? If we are led by this church into a reimagining of Britain, then that future is open-borders, socialist in economics and Islamic in faith. The British culture that was passed to us -this centuries old, imperfect but beautiful culture- will not survive this current century to be argued about by our descendants as we argue about it today.

Archbishop Welby knows that demographic changes are reshaping the nation, but he says nothing about the right of the British people to remain as they are and have been for centuries.

One of the truly great British values is the idea of leaving your fellow Briton alone to do as he wishes. It has been part of our social compact that in exchange for a few tokens, Britons live as they wish without molestation. That centuries-old idea, which predates Locke and Rousseau, rooted in the Magna Carta, is now tossed aside. Instead of his role in society being contingent on his skill and willingness to participate, the Briton is forced to pay more for services that do not function and to support migrant populations who exploit his infrastructure, hate his faith and laugh at his values.

In Britain, we are ruled by a monarch who is styled

Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith.

Where is the shield now? Where is our faith? The leader of the Anglican faith knows that demographic change is the fundamental issue facing not just the British but all Europeans, but he looks away. It is a sin that he prefers the easy answers posed by the globalist left, to make the people pay more because they will not complain too loudly. It is rank disdain for our people and our ways that he says they must change to fit with the newcomer, rather than they with us.

The Englishman has as much right to exist as any other race. It is not xenophobia to say that you do not want to overturn everything that is true about yourself. Justin Welby would do well to recognize that.
