[ okay so clarrie even tho these names are originated from european languages, the way the japanese voice actors pronounce the name are quite different. written - levi , spoken - rivai written - ymir , spokem - ymiru written - erwin , spoken - eruwin written - armin , spoken - arumin and so on. and when the ships' names are made, well I don't know what fans were thinking but haha they must have put emphasis on how these names were pronounced. ]

[ it is a very premature and incomplete deduction but it is for the sake of simplfying, adapting european / latin names for japanese speakers. I know that japanese don't have a sound corresponding for ' L ' so instead they use ' R ' especially when it is the beginning of the word. and I kind of noticed that between the consonants ' r ' , ' w ' / ' m ' japanese put the vowel ' u '. all for the sake of adaptation. ]

i suppose it was more trying to spell new words with languages, i’m not very common with japanese but maybe they have influences wherein some names are spelt in different situations? the basic rules of shippin names seem to be the two names placed together & that would make sense. what i do find interesting is that in some cases, europeans spell the ship in a different way. like berujean is bertjean or erumin is eremin. I think it’s less likely due to the people wanting to be different from one another, & more commonly the way that people know these pronunciations to be spelt. a japanese person who may not see armins name may spell it arumin at some point, we just dont truly know until we are there. 

i guess in both situations just different names stuck, even though they seemed to be littered throughout both things ? therefore it’s become less linked to the pronunciation for some fans and more just for the sake of the name theyve seen more often. O: but i thank you so much for this insight ??? i should have seen it i s’pose but for ages i was just like EXPLAIN TO ME ??? HELP ???
