DUTY AFTER SCHOOL

Chapter 1

━ BEING IN THE SENIOR YEARS .. can be quite stressful for the 3th grade students in Sungjin High School , especially with the upcoming test and exams including the CSAT is approaching . The pressure to pass with flying colors and get into a good university can be overwhelming and make students feel like their life depends on these tests. It's no wonder that many senior students feel stressed and anxious during this year...

Though life may be stressful , it's seems that Jang Y/N has no worries at all . The girl who's always sleep in the class unfazed with everything is going on . She's the complete opposite of her brother , Jang Yeonghoon , who's the top class and student in the school .

"Finally , the season of hell is ended ! " Y/n exclaimed can't contain her excitement and relief as she rejoices finally free from the stressful pressure of exams.

"YAh , you shouldn't be so happy yet! It was just a mock exam, not the real exam!" WooTaek the guy who seat infront of her turning his head points out, and the girl groans.

"I know! I know! Stop reminding me of it! I hate studying so much! My brain can't take it anymore..." she whines as she puts her head down onto her table and covers her face with her hands.

"You said that , but you still got a good grade though ! " he pointed again . Well what can she says ? She and her brother share the same braincell .

"I did get a good grade, but it was still so stressful!" she complains. "My brother is the smartest in the class, and we share a similar brain, but studying is still such a chore!"

"Maybe so, but you still have to put in the effort if you want to get the same grades as him," he teases , and the girl just flicks over his forehead, not saying anything.

"Ouch! That hurt! What was that for??!" the guy says as he holds his forehead where the girl has flicked him.

Even though she study hard or passing all the exams , her mother still pointing out that she need to be more like her brother . She sicked of it and hates it . It's feel like she is not enough and that's make her want to be a rebel .

"My finger feel so itchy so sudden that why.." the girl replies sarcastically.

"YAH!!"

The girl sticks out her tongue in a teasing way, as she grabs her bag and hastily leaving when the school bell rings. WooTaek can't get his revenge, so he can only look over at her with frustration as she hurries out of class. " Aish !! I was about to flick back at her !!" he mutters feeling annoyed . Soo Chul laughs at the pair's antics, enjoying their little fight and banter.

As Y/N exits the school building, she sees Kimchi and Deok-joong who are stopped in their tracks. Excitedly, she rushes over and wraps her arms around the two unexpectedly, startling them.

"BAH! What are you two doing?" the girl asks curiously, with Deok-joong staring up at the sky towards the strange spheres hovering high above their heads.

"How long have they been there now?" He asks to which Y/N and Kimchi raised their head and looked at the sky that now

filled with a strange spheres ever since last year .

" Around a year ."

"When those things came , i thought something crazy was going to happen . " he said as they walk toward the school gate " Yah , even if aliens invade us , nothing changes for high school seniors ." kimchi replied earning a nod in agreement from the girl beside him .

"Well , it's good to know if the world is on the brink of ending! No need to worry about other thing " The girl's statement leaves the two boys completely stunned and taken aback, staring at her with a look that says they're wondering if she's completely lost her mind.

"Michin yeoja," Deok-joong mutters under his breath and gets nudged by Chi-Yeol .

"Pffh, im just kidding guys!" the girl says casually, dismissing their reactions with a light-hearted laugh as she waves the whole thing off.

" Internet Cafe ? "

"Gosh , I'd love to !"

" Y/N ? "

The girl only shrugs and went to her brother who seems busy on his phone . Tapping his shoulder in aknowledgement as he replied with a nod . Then Chi-Yeol walks toward Yeonghoon asking him .

"Hey, how was the exam?" Chi-Yeol asks him, looking for a conversation starter, but the boy seems too absorbed in his thoughts to answer. His attention is drawn away from his screen when he notices his sister pointing over his shoulder, and he turns to see Chi-Yeol asking him the question.

"How was your exam?" Chi-Yeol repeats but his attention pulled toward the bus behind Chi-Yeol which is approaching in front of them . He grabs her sister wrist and pulls her toward the bus, before y/n board the bus she bids goodbye to both of her friends.

As they ride on the bus towards their destination, Yeonghoon sits next to the window while Y/N sits beside him, sleeping with her head on his shoulders. She wakes up and peeks over at her brother, noticing what he is watching.

"That's again?" she asks his brother who's watching a live about the sphere .

"Just continue sleeping"

"Ish"

Later , they two stepped out from the bus as they finally arrived in their destination . Now standing infront of the tuition building . The street is busy with people passing by and a car honk .

" Hoon-ah , what's if we ditch this class ? " I try to sweet-talk him . " I mean we recently just had our exam today and don't you think we need a day off ? " she reasons .

" Y/N " he trails off hesitantly as he looks at his sister .

"Gwaenchana , i'll make sure Eomma doesn't know "

Yeonghoon only sighed in defeated as he let's her sister pulled his arm bringing him to the place that had come in her mind .

The two sibling are now in an internet cafe, sitting next to each other , both focused on their screens as they play games on their own individual computers .

'GAME OVER'

"Andwaee , I'm lost " Y/n sighs in annoyance, pulling off her gaming headset and setting it aside. She peeks over at Yeonghoon, who is still focused on his game . Y/N taps his shoulder "Yah Im going to buy a drinks , do you want anything ?" she asks him but he only gives a quick shake of his head .

"Arraseo"

The girl then heads over to the nearby vending machine, inserting the coins and thinking about what to get. She hums to herself while staring at the buttons with a finger pressed against her lips in thought, then finally pushes the button for soda.

As she returns from the vending machines with a can of soda on her hand , she notices that Yeonghoon has already stood up and is about to leave ignoring the presence of Kimchi and Deok-Joong who still standing at the place "Eh Hoon-ah where are you going??" she calls after him , hurriedly went to her seat taking her bag " Hey you two !" The girl greet the two before running to catch up with Yeonghoon who already walks away .

"Yeonghoon used to be a good guy"

"That's how a good guy reacts ? I don't understand how can Y/N cope up with his ! "

" The world is so unfair , we studied and came to the internet cafe all the same " Deok-Joong complaining as he sat down "But he's number one and we're-" trails of as he leans closer "would we be able to go to a college in Seoul?"

"Yah, a college in Seoul?" Chi-yeol snorts at his " We need to be thankful for one in Gyeonggido!"

"That true.. Although i failed the exam..I need to eat the chicken ."

"I love chicken ."

This is the new changed of plot i wrote for this story , for those who have read the previous chapter before this is the new plotline . Sorry if there is any grammartical errors mistake since english was not my mother tongue languages also writing a fiction is a new thing for me . Anyway i hope you enjoy reading !!
