♟️Hiyori Nishihama, “QUEEN”♟️

Pronouns: She/They

School: Tsukinomori

Likes: Scrambled Eggs, Fried Chicken

QUEEN plays the synth/key parts of Third Wave’s music, and she writes the songs too! Formerly ran a chess club before joining the band!

We asked the members of the band what they think about QUEEN!

KING: “QUEEN is more than just a friend to me, she’s someone who I’d be with forever! Whether it’s onstage or off I hope she’ll keep relying on me… oh and she looks super cute when she eats! I promise!”

QUEEN: “Giving your thoughts on yourself is a little embarrassing… I’d like to say my biggest strength is my kindness, but that feels a little cheesy… what I can say is that I’m honored to have friends like the ones I have now here in Third Wave!”

ROOK: “QUEEN is so kind to everyone… whenever they look at the lyrics I make they always have some kind of idea as to how to make a song from it, that’s some real skill! Also, sometimes she helps with homework, that’s saved my life every now and then…”

KNIGHT: “QUEEN works harder than anyone else in this band, even if sometimes I feel like she’s less interested in the band than she is in just… spending time with us. I don’t understand her sometimes, but they’re someone you can’t help but admire.”

BISHOP: “QUEEN isn’t honest with themselves most of the time, but that’s just in her nature I think, it’s not like she’s holding back a dark side or anything. I like her the most when she’s really open with us, makes her more interesting when she’s not always on defense y’know?”

PAWN: “I don’t think QUEEN likes me very much, or at the very least she thinks I’m strange. I certainly don’t mind it, a proper band shouldn’t have everyone be in complete agreement all the time… this too is a compliment.”

🍍Tatsuyo Odaiba, “BISHOP”🍍

Pronouns: They/Them

School: Hanasakigawa

Likes: Musubi, Pineapple

BISHOP is Third Wave’s Sax player, skilled due to playing in a Jazz Band at school. They’re a member of a rich family, but barely acts the part.

We asked the members of the band what they think about BISHOP!

KING: “Uhh… lowkey I get confused by BISHOP a lot… they’re a schemer type and that just confuses me! They probably only have our best interests in mind but… I dunno, it’s kinda hard to trust someone like them.”

QUEEN: “I think I understand BISHOP more than most people… or at least I hope I do, sometimes there are things people just won’t tell eachother, they see all those things and act to make sure they’re resolved, even if it’s difficult… so uhm, that makes them a good friend?”

ROOK: “BISHOP is so kind! I mean, maybe not *so* so kind but they’ve always been my best friend! They give me snacks and take me shopping… and they always have some fun story to tell! I wish they got along better with everyone… but I think we’re all starting to grow closer!”

KNIGHT: “…Ugh. I’ve never met anyone more disagreeable than BISHOP. I don’t even want my thoughts posted, if they read this they’ll probably find some way to mock me for it. …If you are reading this BISHOP, you’re confusing and I dislike you. But you already know that.”

BISHOP: “Ahahah! Wow! Everyone’s responses are golden! Guess I lean too hard into being a troublemaker, hope that’s not lessening any stranger’s opinion’s of me. C’mon, I’m more fun than I seem! Come find me after shows I’ll give you free stuff! I charge for signatures though!”

PAWN: “…BISHOP is a mean person. But they’re honest about it. Actually, they might be the most honest person I know. Which sucks because they’re irritating. Somehow people find them charming, I don’t get it, but I suppose the nice thing to do is be happy for them. Yay.”

It’s time for yet another newsletter!

It’s been a pretty busy month for both of our creators, so we only have a small handful of things to show off and talk about, but we’d still like to give you this peek behind the curtains nonetheless!

First of all, Thank you to all who have checked out Third Wave on Ao3! Posting all the stories there was kind of the big thing we wanted to do from the start but ended up not getting an account in time to do so in time… we hope that publishing there has helped out a lot! If I’m being as honest as I can be, I’d love it if more people checked out the full story of our characters! As I’ve said before, Third Wave is just the first step into a bigger universe with a set of 5 new bands complete with their own stories and narratives… Of course in doing this, we’ve created an interwoven narrative that necessitates reading everything to see how the plot unfolds. While I can’t really do much to further encourage reading our works, I really hope you all will! It’s been a blast making this story after all!

Now with that said, for those who are fully caught up on the story I’m sure you might have at least a bit of interest as to what’s next. Band Story 2 has a brief intro in the doc, but to further build up to the release of it, I’d like to introduce a new major character!

Liu Huiying is a Hanasakigawa Second Year, as well as the creator and lead Vocals/Guitarist of the rock band “Lunacy”, a band that Sayuki once believed to be a place where her dreams would be safe… until Huiying forced her to leave the band, scarring her dreams forever…

Huiying’s motivations and Sayuki’s past will be a large part of the story of Band Story 2, so we hope you’ll look forward to learning more about them and seeing how they’ll both affect the story going forward! Band Story 2 will release in the fall of 2025!

Now, for another peek behind the curtains, let’s talk about See Batteries!

If you remember from our last newsletter, I teased them as a Celtic Punk Band with a robot vocalist, well… let’s get into the Robot Vocalist part a little more! The Story of See Batteries is based on yumenokessho, the Bandori SynthV’s that are based on the vocalists, and not only does the story of See Batteries canonize the yumenokessho’s to the Bandori Universe, it also introduces a new one, ARIA, the vocalist of See Batteries! ARIA has to appearance of a simplistic Vocaloid when existing in “digital space”, but in real life, she inhabits a robotic humanoid body that allows her to sing and move about! Isn’t she just adorable?

The Story of SeeBee’s is about halfway finished, look forward to it!

As will be the case in every newsletter, we’d like to extend the opportunity for Creator-Specific QnA, which you always have the opportunity to do at any time, we’re just asking you here! Use our DM’s or our Strawpage or however you’d like! We love getting questions!

Now moving on… CHIBI ATTACK!!!

These two adorable chibi’s are of course based on the Bandori ones, and are made by the lovely ghostricked2810 and will be made for our entire cast of characters, including Third Wave! They’re so cute! But uh, who are these two? They’re not part of Third Wave’s story… I wonder…

That’s it for our newsletter, our creators have to get back to spending their Pride month suffering doing schoolwork…

Posts will continue this month but with minimal new content, however, in July things will pick up a lot! I’ve heard talks of some kind of fight…? Might be fun!

🍊Naoto Hirizo, “KING”🍊

Pronouns: She/He

School: Tsukinomori

Likes: Hot Sauce, Mac and Cheese

KING is the vocalist and guitarist of Third Wave, though he’s from a formal family, he’s actually a really eccentric person. Also is big into baseball!

We asked the members of the band what they think about KING!

KING: “Wait, you want me to talk about… me? Uhh, well I’m pretty cool! I can run fast and my new guitar has two necks! …That’s enough to make me cool, yeah?”

QUEEN: “KING is always looking out for us, I can’t say he’s always the best at it, but he always acts with his emotions in mind, and I think it’s wonderful that Third Wave has someone like that as their front man… I trust him more than anyone.”

ROOK: “KING is a great friend! Him and QUEEN are both my seniors, so I feel looked after when I’m with them! As for her playing… I mean, being spontaneous is important for Ska music, but when she gets in a mood it’s like trying to turn off a runaway hose…”

KNIGHT: “KING is… a handful, usually, I’m honored to be part of her band, but sometimes I’m glad that QUEEN is usually the one keeping her on a leash. If there’s anything I admire about him, it’s that he’s action oriented, and that’s a good skill to have.”

BISHOP: “Ohhh man KING is a riot! You’d think anyone from Tsukinomori would be a stuck-up egotist or a sad sad rich girl, but she’s actually super exciting. I don’t get when people call her a handful, she makes things fun!”

PAWN: “In chess, apparently the King piece is the only piece a Pawn cannot become. This make sense, I would never want to be someone like KING. But… I do think that he’s pretty good at being himself. …That was a compliment.”

📓Sayuki Kirara, “KNIGHT”📓

Pronouns: She/Her

School: Shirayuki

Likes: BBQ Pork Buns, Persimmons

KNIGHT is the pro-level drummer of Third Wave, formerly played in a band that was very serious to her. Lives life with a strict working mindset.

We asked the members of the band what they think about KNIGHT!

KING: “KNIGHT gives me mixed signals sometimes… she’ll say she’s excited at one point and say she’s grumpy at another… I know she likes this band, but I want her to really realllly have fun with us someday!”

QUEEN: “KNIGHT might seem like a bold and brash person, but I can notice that she doubts herself a lot, I can relate to that doubt enough to know that she’s a girl just like us, even if there’s a massive skill floor between her and everyone else…”

ROOK: “I like KNIGHT a lot! She’s grumpy sometimes and dressed like a punk, but I promise she’s a big softie most of the time! She’s kinda like a bird looking over a nest sometimes, but she doesn’t really get that we’re not baby birds, all of us are looking after her too!”

KNIGHT: “What? My feelings? Am I supposed to boast or something…? Ugh, if I had to say anything… I’m the type of person who won’t give up, even after getting kicked down. Right now I’ve chosen to stick with Third Wave, but I won’t give up on my dreams if things don’t work out.”

BISHOP: “She probably said something like ‘I’ll never give up!’ Right? Ahhh KNIGHT is a bother, seriously, I usually hate people like her. I guess she’s choosing to stay with us, and I can’t complain about that… but I don’t want to be around when she throws a tantrum one day.”

PAWN: “I’ve been with KNIGHT more than anyone in this band… I’d assume that means I know her more than anyone else, but I don’t think that’s true. She wants to seem impressive, so I’ve only ever seen that side of her… I think I keep seeing new sides of her with Third Wave.”

Long time no see!

We apologize that it’s been so long since our last update, life sure can be busy!

We’d like to share information more easily with those waiting to see more from us, so to help with that we’re bringing you our first monthly newsletter!

(Ao3 Release Update)

It’s happening! Sorry we kinda went radio silent on it but all our stories are planned to release TOMORROW along with a new artpiece!

There are 8 works, with 1 of them being our Band Story and 6 of them being the event stories.

The 8th work is a short overview of Third Wave with information from our Master Document as well as an event timeline! Like the Master Doc these things will of course be updated when more stories are added!

Here’s what the outline of a Third Wave work on Ao3 will look like!

We are extremely excited for this, as Ao3 will be a much more accessible way for people to read the story! If you’d like to prepare in advance, the Third Wave Ao3 Series will be posted under the account “Dylanjw10” and all future stories will be simultaneously posted there!

(Life Updates)

The number one reason why we’ve been busy is because we’re both college students! And that makes things soooo busy for us unfortunately. While that does mean that we have had to push back a lot of things, we’ve still been hard at work! However… Our Artist, Garphield3, will be indisposed for a considerable portion of the summer 😢 this means that it will be awhile before we post any new stories or art like we had wanted to. But our writer will still be drafting new stories as well as running the social media’s!

(Updates on the Future)

It’ll be awhile before we get to officially share a lot of this stuff, but rest assured there is much to look forward to!

First off, Third Wave Band Story 2 has been fully outlined! It will likely be finished earlier than expected and I can’t wait to share it!

Now outside of that, if you don’t know already, 3Wave is just the first part of a larger project that we’ve called the “BanG Dream OC Universe”, and in time you’ll be able to see this story actually develop into being that! As our larger team is working hard on 3 new bands!

Two of the bands are written by other members of the project, you may already be aware of the Idol Band, Diamond Light, (written by @/__digitaldreams) as the outline for their first Band story is posted on Ao3 and is linked in our strawpage!

I won’t share much about the other band written by my dear friend (@/ghostricked_) so that they’ll be able to introduce them, but I am very excited for everyone to see the stories they both have made, there’s been a lot of work behind the scenes and they’re COOKING!

Additionally, a new band written by me (Dylanjw10) called “See Batteries” will begin production this summer! They’re a Celtic Punk Band that features a vocalist who is a… Robot?!

It’ll be a long time till they are officially shared, but I’m very excited to write them!
