a lot of ppl want to form "community spaces" but really want a (closed) friend group - and thats a totally valid thing to want! friendship groups are so important!! but maybe pls unpack that before creating yet another "community space" that becomes a rancid hive-minded clique that bullies anyone they deem unfit for the group?
#speaking as someone who fell into the trap a little and gave up bc i realized being a community leader just wasnt for me#this includes figuring out if you are capable of engaging in conflict resolution#or if you're willing to admit you're wrong as creator of the space#or really like y'know. any examination of how *creating* a community space is actually a lot of work#and how by creating these spaces u are putting urself in a position of power of a small group of ppl#and how u are just as likely/potentially MORE likely to cause harm bc of that imbalance#thinkin thoughts is all#and like no shade to anyone really#im just reflecting on my dead server and the amt of drama/discourse/whatever ive seen over the years of ppl making community spaces#when really its a my way or the highway friend group where anyone the group leaders dont like for w/e reason gets bullied out blindly#this is like both an irl and online problem also

Transform your consulting career with a management professional course !

When we think back to childhood, many of us remember dreaming of becoming astronauts, doctors, firefighters, or famous athletes. These aspirations often revolved around adventure, excitement, or helping others.Â
But among those dreams, some children were a little differentânot necessarily seeking the spotlight, but instead drawn to the joy of solving problems, organising chaos, and helping others find clarity in confusion.
Perhaps you were the kind of child who loved sorting your toys by size or colour, who found satisfaction in solving puzzles, or who often ended up helping classmates with tricky tasks. What may have seemed like simple childhood habits were actually early signs of something more profound: a natural inclination toward analysis, structure, and leadership. These are the foundational traits of a consultant.
A consulting role is defined not by the title you hold but by your ability to step into a complex situation, assess the problem from multiple angles, and develop effective, sustainable solutions.
Learning doesn't stop once you get a job. In fact, the best consultants are the ones who always keep learning.
Because the business world keeps changing â with new technology, emerging trends, and rising client expectations â continuous learning and professional development are essential. For consultants, ongoing growth isn't optional â it's necessary.
That's where management professional courses come in.
How management professional courses are important for a professional consultant
A management professional course is the best choice for a consultant who needs help fixing businesses and growing. When businesses have issues, they need someone who understands what's going wrong and how to fix it.
Management professional courses teach you how to analyse problems and come up with effective solutions. For example, if a company is losing money, you'll learn how to figure out changes that need to be made.

Professional consultants are often brought into organisations to address complex challenges or to guide strategic planning. Management courses sharpen critical thinking and analytical skills, enabling consultants to evaluate business situations from multiple perspectives and propose effective, data-driven solutions.
Through exposure to real-life case studies, simulations, and management theories, these courses help consultants develop:
Strategic decision-making abilities
Problem-solving methods
A clear approach to managing risks
This training helps consultants lead clients through times of change, growth, or challenges with a clear plan.
Develop Leadership and Communication Skills
Being a successful consultant requires more than just expertise in a specific field â it also demands strong leadership and the ability to influence others. Management professional courses strongly emphasise building leadership qualities, managing teams effectively, and mastering communication techniques â all of which are essential when engaging with clients from diverse industries.
Key areas covered often include:
Emotional intelligence
Conflict resolution
Negotiation skills
Motivational leadership
By learning how to lead teams, facilitate stakeholder discussions, and manage resistance to change, consultants become more effective change agents and trusted advisors.
Gaining Industry-Relevant Knowledge and Trends
Aware of the latest market trends
Familiar with technological advancements such as AI and data analytics
Capable of applying modern business models like agile, lean, and Six Sigma
Such current knowledge allows consultants to bring innovative and competitive solutions to the table, helping clients stay ahead in their respective industries.
Improving Client Relationship Management
Management professional courses teach the interpersonal and customer relationship skills essential for building and sustaining long-term client relationships. This includes:
Understanding client needs
Setting clear expectations
Managing client feedback constructively
Consultants who excel at communication and trust-building often enjoy repeat business, referrals, and long-term contracts. These soft skills are as critical as technical expertise and are a core focus of many leadership and management programmes.
For professional consultants, investing in management professional courses is more than a step toward a qualificationâit is a strategic investment in personal growth, client success, and long-term career sustainability.

why the american campaign in afghanistan was destined for failure, and other strange stuff.
Our campaign in Afghanistan which began on October 7, 2001, dubbed âOperation Enduring Freedomâ for some peculiar and uniquely American reason, was doomed from the very beginning, and most of the blame for the failure is ours.

Pictured: A group of Afghans rest near Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. (Photo: me)
So why did this happen in the first place?
Detailing the entirety of Afghanistanâs tumultuous 19th- and 20th-century history here would an arduous (and, ultimately, pointless) task, but, put succinctly, the USA and Afghanistanâs eastern neighbour, Pakistan, were instrumental in the initial development of the Taliban as a viable militant organisation and major player in Afghanistan.

Pictured: a Soviet soldier takes cover near Herat, Afghanistan. (Photo: AP/Jacques Langevin)
The Soviet Union embroiled itself in a bitter conflict in Afghanistan from 24 December 1979 until 15 February 1989. Through Pakistani intelligence services, the CIA, in its anti-commie fervour, armed and funded anti-Soviet resistance groups, collectively known as mujahideen (which is Swedish for âturboprop planeâ, or maybe just Arabic for âthose engaged in jihadâ). Spirited resistance and brilliant guerrilla-style tactics by the mujahideen, which included future prominent Taliban figures such as Haibatullah Akhundzada and Mohammad Omar, led to the eventual departure of Soviet forces from Afghanistan in what has been termed (perhaps ironically, considering our current situation) âRussiaâs Vietnamâ. At least 562,000 Afghans perished in the Soviet-Afghan War, and millions more either fled the country or were internally displaced. This conflict also likely directly contributed to the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.

Pictured: Former Representative Charlie Wilson (D-TX) with a group of mujahideen. Wilson championed a veritable Cyclone of bullshit. (Photo: Wikipedia/unknown author)
As a civil war further ravaged Afghanistan, the Taliban, founded in 1994 by Islamic cleric (mullah) Mohammad Omar, emerged as the preeminent force amongst the mujahideen. Backed by Pakistanâs Inter-Services Intelligence, the Deobandi Islamist group quickly made territorial gains and captured Kabul in 1996, brutally murdering former President Najibullah to punctuate their conquest.
Under the newly established Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the Taliban regime went right to work in establishing stringent shariâa law over the territories they subdued, barring women from education and work, suppressing ethnic and religious minorities, and outlawing music and TV (which, with the exception of the last thing, should sound familiar to anyone familiar with our own history).
A certain Usama bin Laden (UBL), who founded the terrorist organisation al-Qaâida (literally âthe baseâ) in 1988 during the Soviet-Afghan War, funnelled resources, to include arms and foreign fighters, into the mujahideen resistance effort in Afghanistan through his Maktab al-Khidamat. Though the organisation provided little in terms of overall impact on the war, it boasted a backing of both Pakistanâs ISI and Saudi Arabiaâs General Intelligence Presidency, and was later absorbed into al-Qaâida.
Having had his Saudi citizenship stripped and amid mounting pressure from Saudi Arabia, the US, and Sudan, bin Laden opted to return to Afghanistan in 1996, where he would forge an alliance with Mullah Omar. Omarâs Taliban regime provided a suitable, ahem, base of operations for bin Ladenâs burgeoning global terrorism aspirations, and Pakistan provided continued funding and manpower for the Taliban and its al-Qaâida allies up until 2001.

Pictured: Ahmad Shah Massoud and a group of mujahideen in the Panjshir Valley, 1984. (Photo: Jean-Luc Bremont/AP)
Ahmad Shah Massoud, a guerrilla commander who famously repelled Soviet occupying forces from the Panjshir Valley, became a leading figure in anti-Taliban efforts. Massoud, along with Abdul Rashid Dostum, a polarising yet powerful ethnic Uzbek warlord, formed the United Front (commonly referred to as the Northern Alliance). Instead of the Pashtun-centric approach utilised by the Taliban, Massoud sought to incorporate Afghanistanâs numerous ethnicities under the United Frontâs umbrella.
Despite the Northern Allianceâs clear opposition to the Taliban and ostensibly having prior knowledge that radical elements were at play, the United States provided zero backing to the resistance efforts. Massoud himself addressed the European Parliament and warned of an imminent attack, and also expressed the need for US aid in combatting Taliban belligerents.
Two days prior to the September 11 attacks, the highly revered Massoud prepared to give an interview to a pair of Arab TV journalists, and it would be the last thing he did, as the âjournalistsâ detonated a suicide bomb fashioned out of a TV camera, which was apparently stolen in France. The "Lion of Panjshirâ was buried in his home village of Bazarak, Panjshir Valley, with hundreds of thousands of people in attendance.

Pictured: The World Trade Centerâs Twin Towers erupt in flames after airliners hijacked by al-Qaeda operatives crash into the buildings. According to conspiracy nutjobs, these planes and their passengers never existed, and instead flew into a wormhole and into a parallel universe. (Photo: Silva/Reuters)
Following 9/11, then-President George W. Bush threatened the Taliban regime and demanded that they deliver al-Qaâida leaders in Afghanistan to American authorities, an undertaking they promptly decided to never do. Naturally, Bush came to shove, and a joint resolution that somehow declared war on the very concept of terror was issued.
The United States also finally decided to team up with the Northern Alliance at the onset of OEF in October 2001. Fortunately, it paid off; the Taliban regime rapidly disintegrated after being bombed into the Bronze Age. Despite having effectively vanquished the Taliban, the US failure to capture or kill UBL at Tora Bora likely protracted the conflict into the behemoth bumblefuck we currently recognise.
We did manage to finally kill UBL on May 2, 2011, but stayed in Afghanistan for another 10 years, because stuff. In 2018, then-President Trump ordered a drawdown of approximately 7,000 troops, and in February 2020, US envoy to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad and Taliban vice emir Abdul Ghani Baradar signed a peace agreement. In July of this year, we abandoned Bagram Airfield, our biggest base, virtually overnight, and did not bother informing the Afghans, which Iâm sure made them extremely happy.

Pictured: The mountains near Bagram, Parwan province, Afghanistan. (Photo: me)
The Taliban resurgence into power was equally swift and met surprisingly little resistance: on August 15, 2021, the Taliban took Kabul and cemented its authority. This version of the militant group the NATO coalition and pro-Western Afghan forces soundly defeated in 2001 made promises to uphold womenâs rights and to maintain an inclusive government, though the killing of at least three at a protest in Jalalabad, amongst other things, probably does little to reassure critics that their takeover is a positive turn of events. That said, far-right and neo-Nazi elements are, in fact, celebrating the Talibanâs seizure of power for some depraved Nazi-exclusive reason. It must also be noted that, on multiple levels, the evangelical brand of Christianity possesses significant overlap with the Deobandi Islamist stylings of the Taliban credo.

Pictured: President Joseph Biden discusses Afghanistan at the White House, Aug. 16, 2021 (Photo: AP/Vucci)
As of late, we have frequently underestimated the capabilities of enemy combatants, and the conclusion of our campaign in Afghanistan is no different: President Biden hugely miscalculated the Talibanâs competence in retaking the nation, citing the Afghan National Defence and Security Forcesâ (ANDSF) strength in numbers and superiority in armaments and materiel. Following the takeover, he even went on to blame the ANDSFâs lack of resolve as a reason for the US-backed regimeâs collapse. While technically true, it also fails to take into account Afghanistanâs nature itself. In reality, Afghanistan, in contrast to a central federal government such as that of the United States, is very splintered, factional, corruption-ridden, and largely fiercely independent and self-governing, especially amongst Pashtun tribes. Itâs as if Piru and Crip sets spread out over an entire country ... and over several centuries.

Pictured:Â âNAYBAHOOOOD!â ... now take away the colours, replace every clothing article with shalwar kameez, and turn it up to a cosmic scale, and you have Afghanistan. (Photo: unitedgangs.com)
An additional blunder was approaching the campaign as one would a conventional conflict, something which clearly does not apply to a place as plagued by lawlessness as Afghanistan. There are largely no clear enemies (or friends, for that matter), and trying to distinguish friend from foe is akin to stabbing a warbling mass of sentient Silly Putty or the weird black goo from Prometheus. The United States will almost always win in terms of sheer might and overall warfighting acumen, as we are skilled in both conventional and asymmetric warfare, but what can you do when you have no idea who the enemy is? When the enemy is willing to âwait it outâ indefinitely? Sure, we could literally blow everyone up, but, last I heard, wholesale genocide is a generally frowned-upon activity.
Calling Afghanistan even a Pyrrhic victory seems like an overstatement when you examine the initial mission, our successes, and the final result.  Sure, we got UBL, which was supposedly the entire point of the invasion, but if so, why did we choose to remain for another ten years, wasting a metric asston of resources in the process?  To build a nation? To soothe our collective ego?

Pictured: Workers construct a road in Afghanistan (Photo: AP/Rahmat Gul)
If one is to build a nation, it requires a decent understanding of and a rapport with the people groups with whom you are dealing. Â It is not enough to simply install people who share your particular leanings and instruct them to do what you would do. Â It is certainly inadequate to provide arms, training, and funding to people and expect them to do your bidding when shit hits the fan. Â This sort of thinking also indirectly implies that we possess some kind of moral authority over the nations we invade. Â While our post-war influence has proved positive in some places (Japan, South Korea, Germany, etc.), it does not mean that we should be building nations in every place in which we set foot, especially in a place so volatile and tribalistic as Afghanistan.
I have communicated with a few individuals who insist that President Bidenâs withdrawal was too hasty, or that we should just remain in Afghanistan for the foreseeable future. As much as I am typically revolted by former President Trump and his frequently incoherent word salads, he was right about this particular matter: âThe only way they last is if weâre there. What are we going to say? Weâll stay for another 21 years, then weâll stay for another 50. The whole thing is ridiculous." Yes ... yes, it is ridiculous to prop up an institution that will collapse instantaneously in our absence.
I am no fan of former Senator Ron Paul, and especially Alex Jones and InfoWars, but Paul is almost completely correct in making this statement. Ultimately, a militaristic approach to dominance does not pave the way for longevity. While it is virtually impossible (and infeasible) to return to a 1930s-era isolationist policy, repeated and extended global conflicts only serve to deplete American resources, even if war profiteers have much to gain from it.

Pictured: barbed wire fencing at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. (Photo: me)
Ultimately, rather than rushing pell-mell into unknown and dangerous situations, it is important, especially in this time period, to examine why things went wrong to avoid embroiling ourselves in additional catastrophic and unwinnable debacles such as our Afghanistan conflict. This is a time for self-reflection, rather than outrage.

What does a UX designer do?
I didnât understand the value of user experience (UX) design until my first official job after Iâd graduated university with a degree in Graphic Design.
My new creative director at the time gave me a set of wireframes, a series of web pages with blank boxes to represent text and simple block buttons, for an ecommerce site we were building for a high end baby carriage brand in London, and my first thought was, âWhat do I do with this?â At school, I was used to taking a directive and translating that brief into a high-fidelity, polished, final product ready to be graded, all in one fell swoop â so the in-between step of wireframing was new to me. I literally didnât know what I was looking at.
I soon realized I had been designing user experiences before this project, I just hadnât been doing it very well; I was skipping important steps between the idea and the final product, steps that slowed down my assumptions and invited me to walk in our usersâ shoes. Skipping this critical stage of design prevented me from examining and improving the usability of the user experiences I was building.
Today, I have learned UX design tools, like wireframes and customer journey maps, that we use to structure the experiences we design at Webflow, instead of skipping ahead to the final product as I did early in my career. Working without UX tools is really just a slow and expensive way to fail.
UX design as a discipline for building online experiences is not as new, and is significantly more vast, than when I first started out as a designer; our UX design practices and the overall design literacy of the general population have deepened in the last two decades! But at its core, the need for UX design has always been present: to help technology be more accessible and make the ever-changing digital systems and platforms we use more intuitive.
As a designer with a long career arc ahead of them, the malleable nature of a UX designerâs job makes it all the more exciting, because there are innumerable possibilities for working in different industries and discovering specialties within the field.
What do UX designers do?
A UX designer thinks through the way people use something â whether digital or real-world products, processes or interfaces â and then designs or redesigns elements of that experience to be more user-friendly.
In the grand scheme of human ingenuity, UX design as a practice is still relatively new, and though it is especially useful in defining complex technology experiences, it can be applied to help solve nearly any problem or define any experience. Its impact is expansive. There are many flavors of UX designers depending on these various applications and what tools they may use to approach their problem set, which makes possibilities for a UX career somewhat boundless.
A UX designer can, for example, help define customer experiences for SaaS (software as a service) companies, like Webflow or Spotify or Netflix. They can be critical members of teams that build applications or other experiences in healthcare, government, or education. Or they may choose to specialize and dedicate their career to UX research or UX writing.
At Webflow, UX designers (often referred to as âproduct designersâ) on our design team are responsible for three main areas of UX design:
Defining, exploring, and creating new features
Evaluating and testing those ideas with our target audience
Iterating on, or refining, their work, such as exploring alternative flows or layouts, based on feedback and other inputs from customers and stakeholders
The difference between a UX designer and a UI designer
User experience design aims to improve the overall experience someone has with a product, while UI design focuses on the actual elements of layout and interaction. User experience and user interface design jobs are closely related, and often rely on one another, but it is important to distinguish between them. UI is often undervalued as just the âskinâ of a product or experience, but a great UI designer usually has an excellent grasp of UX. Vice versa, many great UX designers will have a solid understanding of how the interface will impact the experience.
We get to see this relationship in play all over the web. Take Adam Hoâs new portfolio website, for instance: Thereâs a design language used on their home page, with visuals that pop, fonts and colors that convey certain emotions, and a cohesive functionality guiding us to explore their work: these elements must work together to create a unified experience.
Or letâs look at a typical product teaser website: Lasso Loop. A UX designer would have intentionally chosen all of those overarching elements like a header image and headline, an intro video, the two buttons at the top to choose from. They would have figured out how to make certain desired customer pathways easier (such as the form for reserving a product). Then, a UI designer would have laid out each element on the home page, defining exactly how each element looked, how it was interactive (hover and focus states â ensuring elements are accessible), and the spacing between elements to achieve the right hierarchy of information. They may choose imagery, like product images or videos, or interactions, like parallax scroll features, being careful to ensure the page operated as intended â loading quickly and smoothly, and working seamlessly across many screens and devices.
Sometimes, both hats are worn by product designers who have a blend of both UX and UI capabilities. Regardless, a great UX designer usually works with UI in mind. (Hereâs more on the key difference between UX and UI.)

What are the core skill sets a UX designer needs to have?
UX designers are responsible for the overall system that enables user experiences, so they need to have a diverse set of skills. Overall, the core skill for UX designers is the ability to perceive and analyze a user's goals through research and empathy, allowing them to design a system that enables the user to accomplish their goals. If youâre thinking of becoming a UX designer, building these core skills now will serve you well â and demonstrating them in a portfolio will be critical to practicing this discipline professionally.
Interrogation and assessment
UX designers solve problems for a living, so youâll need to develop great interviewing and analytical skills. This might include looking at user analytics and interviewing customers, or observing them using your designs. The most powerful question for a UX designer is âWhy?â, so it is necessarily to learn how to question decisions and behavior.
User testing and research
Both qualitative and quantitative research inform decisions as a UX designer. Qualitative UX research skills, like talking to users and conducting usability studies, and quantitative research skills, like evaluating metrics, can help gain the customer and stakeholder insights necessary for building a great experience.
Information organization
Youâll need to figure out the building blocks that shape an experience in order to redesign that experience. In what context are users coming into an experience? What are they trying to accomplish? What happens when they leave the experience? What are industry best practices and common UX patterns? Knowing basic information architecture best practices and how to apply them will help you answer these questions and get started on a design.
Prototyping
UX designers may build low-fidelity (paper or rough mockups) and high-fidelity (more polished and detailed interactivity) prototypes of what theyâre designing in order to test ideas and quickly get user feedback. Prototyping helps communicate ideas effectively and can be great at moving a concept forward or illuminating areas for refinement so that the designs work better to meet the projectâs objective.
Empathy
A little empathy goes a long way, and that especially applies to the UX design process. UX designers must be able to challenge their inner personal biases and ensure that they are designing for their end user and their pain points, not for themselves.
Leadership and project management
Getting everyone on a team to agree on what kind of user journey you want your companyâs target user personas to have is a powerful leadership opportunity. Soft skills such as project management and conflict resolution can help meet any challenges along the way of executing the above processes.
UX designers have a big impact
Humans are spending more and more time on digital platforms. The experiences people have while they engage with those digital platforms so frequently â and the intuitiveness of the design of those platforms â can have a huge impact, whether on a businessâs revenue or a patientâs health, depending on the application of that UX. In ecommerce alone:
Everyone shops online: Global ecommerce sales are expected to reach $6.5 trillion (USD) in 2022.
Digital messaging is one of the most popular methods of communication: WhatsApp alone boasted 2 billion monthly users in October of 2020.
According to Rehan Fernando, CEO at EIGHT25MEDIA, âStudies have shown that over 70-80% of people will research a company on the web before making a purchase decision, usually by visiting its website.â
Itâs the UX designerâs responsibility to make sure the digital experiences for people who are living their lives online not only drives them to a desired goal (like putting an item in a cart, or effectively tracking their health), but also that users find these experiences easy, effective, and maybe even delightful!
Several years ago, I had the opportunity to work on the UX for an app that had a big impact on the lives of teenagers with diabetes. The purpose of the app was to help teens learn to better manage their diabetes, which can be a challenge both for them at their stage of life and for their parents. While the teens liked to be on their phones, they werenât very motivated to track their glucose levels over time, so we integrated some game elements into our UX to make the app more fun to use: Patients would get badges and earn rewards by completing various tasks. This ultimately increased engagement, which helped them better self-regulate. By designing a more engaging UX, we were able to create better health outcomes for those patients.
Improving a userâs experience is a rewarding process in which you can not only solve an interesting design problem but also help improve peopleâs lives.
Advice for UX designers
This is an industry where specialties and standards are constantly evolving as we learn more, often better, ways of doing things. For that reason I try to think of design as a very broad practice, so as not to get hung up on any single job title or even job requirement. In reality, given time, those particulars will change. Iâve seen numerous iterations of UX design, visual design, and product design job titles and descriptions over my career. What doesn't change is the need for designers to be curious, to solve problems, and to keep an open mind. It is curiosity and creativity that will equate to longevity in your career.
My older brother gave me advice when I was just starting out as a designer that served me well: âIn the early days, say âyesâ as much as you can, so that you can embrace every opportunity, however big or small.â When you say âyesâ, you get to learn myriad ways to solve problems in a hands-on setting. After you've had those experiences and begin to carve out your own niche in the industry. And I, for one, canât wait to see what you can do.

10 Soft Skills Job Seekers Will Need to Advance Their Careers (2020)
Now, you may wonder how you can best prepare for your future career in such a rapidly changing and unpredictable world. Demographic changes, globalization, and digitalization are having a profound impact on how employees are required to perform their jobs in 2020. Â
The skills that employers require for work are changing as well. Businesses want to have a more productive and innovative workforce that possesses skills that are applicable in many fields.
You should develop a full suite of skills and abilities in order to make sure that you are in a good position to maintain stable and steady employment. By honing the most essential skills, you will be able to show your recruiter that you are the best candidate for the role and will bring value to their organization.
Employers have already outlined a set of soft skills that they want from an employee in 2020. Here are the most important ones:
1) Critical Thinking
Critical thinking is a quality sought by most employers of university graduates. It is the ability to think rationally and clearly. Critical thinking includes the component skills of solving problems, making decisions, judging, evaluating, and analyzing arguments. A critical thinker is able to deduce consequences from what he knows, and he knows how to make use of information to solve problems and to seek relevant sources of information. Good critical thinking meets the criteria of such intellectual values as accuracy, clarity, precision, relevance, depth, breadth, and good reasons.
If you work in education, research, finance, the management or the legal profession, then critical thinking is obviously important. At your workplace, critical thinking can distinguish you as a leader and a problem solver. That is why it is so important to develop these skills if you want to become a better candidate for a new job or promotion.
How to Develop Critical Thinking Skills?
Continually go back to the basic questions when approaching any problems.
Question your basic assumptions.
Be aware of your personal prejudices and cognitive biases.
Evaluate the existing evidence.
Always do your research to come up with a reasonable answer.
Identify inconsistencies and errors in reasoning.
Become a critic of your own thoughts and actions.
2) Collaboration
It`s no secret that our workplace challenges are becoming more and more complex. It, in turn, requires the will, effort, and expertise of people from different departments of one organization. That`s why employers look for extremely collaborative people these days. Collaboration is a process through which people who see different aspects of a problem come to an effective solution. Collaboration generates new ideas, improves productivity and promotes healthy employee relationships.
When members of a team collaborate, they are able to utilize the knowledge, experience, and skills of everyone involved. Businesses encourage collaboration among their teams since it promotes self-analysis, creates a talent pool of experienced and competent people, and make employees learn from each other.
How to Develop Collaboration Skills?
Demonstrate respect for the opinions, expertise, and experience of others.
Address negativity with empathy.
Be an active listener to make other team members feel valuable
Work on projects outside your comfort zone
Settle disputes through conflict management.
Share your enthusiasm to keep the excitement to work together.
Participate in team-building activities.
3) Stress Management
Work-related stress is now generally acknowledged as a global issue. The number of employees calling in sick because of stress has tripled in recent years. This problem is getting even worse because employees continually face such common job stressors as monotonous tasks, inability to meet deadlines, inflexible working schedules, job insecurity, unfair performance evaluation systems, poor organizational culture, and many others.
Being able to manage stress is an extremely valuable asset nowadays since employers want to hire those people who can easily adapt to change and endure increasing pressure. Some of the consequences of work-related stress that an organization might face include increasing costs, decreasing performance and productivity, decreasing work commitment, increasing turnover, and increasing absenteeism. Businesses do their best to avoid these potential problems by creating a resilient workforce that is more engaged, more productive and better able to handle increased stress and workloads.
How to Develop Stress Management Skills?
Become aware of things that make you feel stressed.
Learn to accept things as they are.
Keep a positive attitude.
Try to accept that reality can fall short of what your expectations may be.

Novel and adaptive thinking will be at a premium in the next decade, particularly as automation continues. It is essential for improving task performance during times of organizational change. Adaptive thinking involves the ability to recognize unexpected situations, decide which response is the best, and perform at a high level under stressful and unpredictable circumstances.
These skills allow you to follow the rules while still being innovative. Organizations want to work with people who can plan effectively, monitor different processes carefully, and shift thinking and behavior flexibly to accommodate circumstantial changes.
How to Develop Novel and Adaptive Thinking Skills?
Do visualization and guided imagery exercises.
Develop good mental representations of the desired performance.
Build the habit of arguing with articles you read online.
Take a single problem and try to work out which of many possible solutions is the correct one.
5) Data Literacy
Data literacy will undoubtedly be essential for keeping different kinds of businesses relevant in 2020. The problem is that these days employees are not very good at interpreting information and making sense of it. According to research, only 24% of business decision-makers feel fully confident in their ability to analyze and argue with data and derive meaningful information from it. So, employers in 2020 want to work with data-literate people, that is people who understand which data is relevant to ask the right questions, create easy-to-understand visualizations, and interpret the data well.
How to Develop Data Literacy Skills?
Start reading books about data.
Experiment with questions of the data to figure out questions that work and do not work.
Pose questions around data.
When finding questions about the data that work or do not work, ask why that is the case.
 6) Social Intelligence
In todayâs business world, itâs extremely important that people realize the importance of effective communication. It was confirmed that thousands of employees have recently lost their jobs due to their lack of social incompetence.
In 2020, it won`t be enough just to be good at your job. You have to rethink your style of working and become more adaptive to your social environment.
Social intelligence skills are claimed to be important in various organizational environments since they help employees to become more productive and successful at what they do. What is more, they are essential for effective leadership and help teams work together. Employers look for talented people who are capable to act wisely while maintaining human relations, have a desire to meet new people, are always ready with proper responses to every query, are able to motivate and influence others. In other words, a perfect employee in 2020 should know how to be the people`s person.
How to Develop Social Intelligence Skills?
Learn to examine your perceptions and question assumptions.
Identify your feelings.
Pay attention to other people.
Improve your communication skills.
Establish healthy ways of conflict resolution.
Go out and interact with people.
Practice expressive body language.
7) Technological Skills
Digital technologies are now commonplace in daily life and becoming embedded in the working culture. It makes technical skills more relevant than ever. Employees are so fond of them because their application can greatly improve work efficiency. Having a workforce that knows how to use them in a proper way is key to a company`s success. If you want to become more employable, you should add such valuable skills to your arsenal as the ability to design and create websites, graphic design, coding, statistical software management, expert data analysis, advanced social selling, and mobile expertise. It is very important to embrace digital skills in the workplace because they can increase business productivity, provide new ways of working, increase revenue, and build stronger customer relationships.
How to Develop Technological Skills?
Pay attention to technology trends.
Volunteer to participate in technology projects.
Take classes on data analytics and accounting information systems.
Take advantage of online resources to solve computer issues.

Decision making skill is required in many different situations across numerous business areas. Unforeseen situations, complex projects, and everyday tasks that organizations might face always need appropriate and timely courses of action. That is why making decisions that produce successful results are so critical for any company.
In 2020, your potential employers will make you deal with different difficult situations to check whether you are an effective decision-maker. If you can make the best possible choice in the shortest time possible, you will definitely have an advantage over those applicants who can`t do it. Candidates should also be able to analyze data and predict the outcome of each option before jumping to a conclusion. And it is worth remembering that employers always opt for applicants who can support their decisions.
How to Develop Complex Decision-making Skills?
Clearly define the nature of the decision you must make.
Collect some pertinent information before making a decision.
Identify several possible paths of action.
Weigh the evidence.
Consider the results of your decision.
Always visualize the scenario and the possible outcome.
9) Cross-Cultural Competence
It is expected that more people will work in culturally diverse teams in 2020. The new globalizing business environment requires cross-culturally competent employees with a global mindset who can adapt to change, learn quickly, and communicate effectively. For this reason, employing people to speak the language and understand the culture of international partners and clients will deliver a significant advantage.
How to Develop Cross-cultural Competence?
Learn and understand new cultures.
Learn about your own cultural preferences.
Be as open and transparent as you can genuinely be.
Learn as much as you can about how relationships are built.
Learn how to read local body language and non-verbal cues.
Keep an open mind.
Facilitate meaningful conversation.
Acknowledge your own implicit assumptions and biases.
10) Organizational Skills
To be successful in 2020 means to be organized. Recruiters want their employees to be organized and able to meet deadlines and targets. This useful set of skills will help you plan and prioritize your actions and activities, delegate tasks more effectively, avoid stress, and receive greater satisfaction from work experiences. Here is how to improve your organizational skills:
Categorize items in your workspace and assign a storage space for each category.
Declutter your desk when the work is over.
Manage good use of all the time-management tools.
Use your notebook to record the key points from meetings and conversations.
Explore different options for labeling or filing emails.
Schedule small tasks.
Plan your whole day carefully.
Create an overall list of what in the business needs to be organized.
Determine which tasks are most important at each moment.

How Teens are Learning Crucial âSoft Skillsâ Before Their Internships Start
Editorâs note: This story about soft skills is part of Map to the Middle Class, a Hechinger Report series examining how schools can prepare students for the good middle-class jobs of the future.
When Emma Campbell began planning how to spend her summer, one thing was clear: To drive to the stables to go riding and get to and from home and her gym, sheâd need to buy a lot of gas for her car, and to do that â sheâd need a job. After finishing her junior year at Coventry High School, a large public school in Rhode Island, she figured her best shot at summer employment would be at Dunkinâ Donuts, or maybe a local coffee shop. But then she received an email from her guidance counselor about a new summer internship program that connected high schoolers from across the state with paid internships in local businesses, and the idea of pouring coffee all summer was dumped.
Working in an office instead of a restaurant âwould probably be a much better experience,â said Campbell, who is 17 and dreams of becoming a scientist. Even so, the prospect of spending the summer working alongside seasoned professionals terrified her.
Luckily, the internship program, called Prepare Rhode Island, was designed to anticipate the nervousness a student like Campbell might experience â as well as the inevitable host of faux pas, communication disconnects and other workplace etiquette snafus that can occur when teenagers enter professional work settings. To help ward off such problems, the program featured an orientation and interview process to carefully match students with local businesses. Next, and perhaps most importantly, the 162 students who made the cut attended a five-day boot camp in which they learned crucial workplace skills such as goal setting, effective communication, teamwork, public speaking, conflict resolution and critical thinking.

âIt was incredibly intimidating at first,â Campbell recalled of the boot camp and its various challenges, such as attending a networking lunch with local heads of industry. âBut it pushed me out of my comfort zone, made me get used to things like being able to communicate with people openly.â
As the labor market tightens, businesses are on the hunt, looking to fill jobs with young people coming out of schools and colleges. While thereâs been a lot of talk about the demand for technical capabilities among this burgeoning pool of labor, employers complain that students lack fundamental skills: things like being able to collaborate, communicate, think critically and interact effectively with coworkers.
In response, some states have added requirements that schools teach these skills, sometimes referred to as âsoft skillsâ or âemployability skills.â States are adopting online curricula, or in some cases, developing their own programs from the ground up. But some education experts argue that too much of the burden for training people on the professional skills they need is falling on educators. For this training to be truly effective, they say, schools also need help from local industries to provide rigorous real-life workplace learning experiences. Programs like Prepare Rhode Island can offer an ideal way to get kids into the workplace, while sharing the responsibility for their training with employers, experts say.
This year, after a two-year survey of 1,100 employers in the state, the Georgia Department of Labor concluded that 85 percent of the businesses surveyed were deeply concerned with workersâ poor soft skills and work ethic. Topmost among employer worries were attendance and punctuality, attitude and respect, discipline and character. Among the findings, 87 percent of employers expressed concerns about their workersâ abilities to engage in creative thinking and problem solving.
âIn the workforce shortage weâre facing right now, soft skills are very much one of the biggest concerns,â said Mark Butler, commissioner for the Georgia Department of Labor, who is spearheading the stateâs Business Employability Skills Training, a soft skills program that, he said, is now in 200 high schools and 30 middle schools and is expected to expand to elementary school. âThe biggest reason people arenât getting work right now is not so much a lack of technical training, itâs really their lack of soft skills. Most employers are desperate for workers, and willing to train people to do those jobs. Where theyâre struggling is to correct some of the behavior issues.â
After agreeing to take on 10 summer interns from the Prepare Rhode Island program last summer, Cathy Desjarlais, a human resources manager at biotech company Amgenâs Rhode Island site, had reservations about the new interns, apprehensive they would display the behavior issues Butler described. âWould they come appropriately dressed, would they behave appropriately in our corporate setting â even just walking through the hallways â they are high school students and this would be, for many of them, their first work experience in a corporate setting,â said Desjarlais. âMy main concern was how theyâd adapt to the workplace and could they behave.â
Here are the skills businesses look for in young people
Research suggests Desjarlais was right to be concerned. When the National Association of Colleges surveyed employers and graduating college seniors last year, it discovered a broad disconnect between how each party perceived studentsâ competencies in areas such as oral and written communication, career management and leadership. The greatest discrepancy concerned studentsâ professionalism and work ethic: While nearly 90 percent of students rated themselves as proficient in this area, only 42 percent of employers in fact considered them such.
Some experts, though, point out that employer handwringing over young peopleâs lack of preparedness isnât novel. âIndustry and education people want to talk about 21st-century skills and soft skills and lump them all together as if weâre talking about something new,â said Grover Whitehurst, senior fellow in economic studies for the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank. âThese are also 19th-century skills.â
Peter Cappelli, a professor at the University of Pennsylvaniaâs Wharton School, disputes the notion that young people today have less ability to engage effectively in a workplace than those of prior generations. âEmployers have always complained that young people lack maturity. Thatâs because they are young,â Cappelli said.
Still, as employers clamor for workers with these aptitudes, more and more states are integrating soft skills instruction into the K-12 curriculum. Indiana, for example, passed a law this spring requiring all schools to begin teaching employability skills by the beginning of 2019. California is exploring how to best teach these skills to students through the New World of Work program, a U.S. Department of Education-funded project currently being piloted at nine community colleges that includes a classroom curriculum, workplace learning and a credential. While many state programs bear similarities to U.S. Department of Education recommendations for career and technical education programs, individual states tweak components to suit their industry sectors.
Prepare Rhode Island, for example, is a direct response to the stateâs looming workforce shortage. By 2020, the state estimates 70 percent of its jobs will require either an industry-recognized certificate or a post-secondary degree, and yet, less than 45 percent of the stateâs residents have any education beyond high school. The state is pouring money into myriad job-training efforts â including $3 million into a variety of youth initiatives this year, $739,228 of which funded the Prepare Rhode Island boot camp and internship, according to Heather Hudson, executive director of the Governorâs Workforce Board, the state agency behind the effort.
The Workforce Board chose an independent nonprofit to operate the internship program and act as a middleman between schools and local businesses. That took some of the burden off teachers and school administrators who are already stretched thin, say the programâs backers. âWhile our educational system is in the mix here, changing that system just takes longer than the timeframe we have to ramp up,â said Nina Pande, executive director of the nonprofit, Skills for Rhode Islandâs Future. âSo weâre supplementing to make sure our children donât fall even farther behind in understanding what the workplace will demand of them when they graduate.â
The nonprofit was charged with vetting the interns, bringing local industry into the mix, as well as providing training, covering liability and paying the interns an above-minimum wage of $11.25 per hour for two months of summer work. Not having to deal with all those concerns, said Amgenâs Desjarlais, went a long way toward convincing her company to participate. âThere has to be something in it for both parties, especially if youâre working to get the corporation to recognize the benefit,â she said. âItâs tough for employers to say no to a program where all you need to do is take the interns on. I think if thereâs incentive, that will help open doors.â
Nariq Richardson, 18, is a senior at Rhode Islandâs Academy for Career Exploration. A summer internship at Gilbane, a construction company, inspired him to seriously consider a career in the field, maybe as a project manager or architect. (Courtesy of Vilson Gamez)
Nariq Richardson, a senior at Academy for Career Exploration, a high school in Providence, spent his summer internship at Gilbane, a local construction company. At Gilbane, Richardson worked on a variety of tasks, including inserting hyperlinks into the firmâs blueprints and documenting construction progress with 360-degree photos he took at a job site. âThat was my first real, paying job. I was really nervous, but I gained a lot of confidence,â said the 18-year-old.
Before the internship, Richardson had envisioned a technical career like computer programming. But Prepare Rhode Island taught him that he can excel in multitasking, working with colleagues and problem solving. Now heâs thinking of going into the construction field, he said, âmaybe as a project manager or architect.â

The Yakuza franchise is over a decade old, and in that time, its feature set has predictably grown. Over six mainline entries, free-roam areas became more substantial, additional playable protagonists were introduced, combat mechanics were expanded to incorporate multiple fighting styles, and more and more minigames were steadily piled on. Surprisingly, the latest installment goes the other way, discarding components that certainly wonât go unnoticed by series devotees. But that doesnât end up being a bad thing, because Yakuza 6: The Song of Life successfully uses its smaller footprint to create a deeper, more meaningful impression.
The final installment in Kazuma Kiryuâs story focuses on him alone, with the plot seeing the large cast of series-significant characters like Majima, Saejima, Daigo, and the children of Sunflower Orphanage make only the briefest of appearances before being tidied away. Adopted daughter Haruka, sympathetic detective Date, and hobo-turned-loan broker Akiyama play important parts, but exist on the fringes. The Song of Life centers on Kiryu as he returns from another long stint in prison, separated from the Tojo Clan, and unravels the mystery of an infant whoâs suddenly come into his care. The setup distinctly echoes the events of the first game, a seemingly purposeful decision which lets The Song Of Life act as a fitting refrain, giving Kiryuâs final sojourn a roundness that brings a nice sense of closure to his series arc.
His investigations bring him to the port town of Onomichi, Hiroshima, where he encounters a lowly blue-collar crime family led by an aging, but supposedly legendary yakuza portrayed by Takeshi âBeatâ Kitano (a yakuza film icon in his own right, though his subtle mannerisms donât completely survive the transition). While the game unsurprisingly spirals into a complex and dramatic story involving underworld political alliances, age-old conspiracies, and a healthy dose of deception, whatâs ultimately memorable are the threads and character developments that explore what becomes a very significant, widespread theme: family. Kiryuâs time meeting new people from different walks of life in a closely-knit small town has him reflecting on remarkably ordinary ideas as they exist in different facets of societyâbonds of friendship in the face of adversity, loyalty in times of uncertainty, and caring for your ward as a parental figure.
These themes resonate consistently throughout the better part of Yakuza 6âs narrative, and this includes the numerous, optional substories. Youâll help children and parents resolve conflicts and try to understand each otherâs point of view. Youâll see Kiryu finding true strength and loyalty in the smallest of gestures, along with the different ways friends and strangers can support one another. The writing in these stories is often corny, but that doesnât mean there isnât an endearing sincerity that regularly shines through. When the sentimental piano melody kicks in during pivotal scenes of moralistic resolution, itâs hard not to be swept up by it all. The seriesâ penchant for goofiness still exists, though it doesnât return to Yakuza 0âs ludicrous levels of absurdity. Particularly memorable substories are ones which humorously explore Kiryuâs unfamiliarity and disdain towards modern technology like drones, robot vacuums, and YouTubers. But even the gameâs most comedic series of quests, which involve Kiryu dressing up as Onomichiâs adorable character mascot (who has an orange for a head and a fish for a purse) ends up becoming a touching reflection about having loyalty in town pride.
These heartwarming stories are also a key component of Yakuza 6âs new minigames. There are less of these side activities than previous entries, but much of whatâs included is more robust than usual, and in many cases, the substories attached to them are enjoyable enough to stop the simple mechanics from wearing thin too quickly. Spear Fishing is a score-based on-rails shooter that finds Kiryu helping an injured fisherman and orphaned fishmonger track down the shark that ruined their lives. The Onomichi Baseball League involves some light team management, pinch-hitting, and player scouting, but the story of Kiryu rallying a team of no-hopers is what really makes the whole affair great. The Snack Bar minigame stands out as a real highlight in this regard. It involves attempting to become a regular in a small, Cheers-style localâs bar where Kiryu tries to forge personal relationships with a group of relatively unextraordinary, blue-collar folk. Its key mechanic is participating in group conversations where one patron has a vent about their woes, and Kiryuâs role is to help provide supportive dialogue and refrain from saying anything selfish or dumb. Itâs lovely to see Kiryu try to resolve everyday, down-to-earth dilemmas and provide genuine acceptance and friendship.
Conversely, thereâs the incredibly involved Clan Creator Mode, which sees Kiryu unwittingly intervening in a war between youth gangs (whose leaders include real-world New Japan Pro Wrestlers, because why not). Taking leadership of one of these groups, youâll help Kiryu scout for soldiers, organize hierarchy, and participate in simple, real-time strategy-style street battles. Youâll take a birdâs eye view in skirmishes, where you can dispatch autonomous grunts as well as a limited number of leader characters with special abilities. Clan Creator is Yakuza 6âs most substantial minigame, boasting online network functions that let you compete against other players, tackle daily missions and participate in a ranked ladder. Unfortunately, itâs also the most tedious to play. Victory strategies stem entirely from massing as many troops as possible and grinding missions to keep your leaders at a capable level. Battles donât really become challenging until the many substory missions are already done, and even then, the strategy more or less stays identical. For a mode with such ambitious scope, its mechanics and relatively uninspired plotâwhich mainly seems concerned with spotlighting its celebrity guestsâarenât satisfying enough to make the long ride enjoyable.
Elsewhere, the Club Sega arcade once again offers playable classics like Super Hang-On and Outrun, but thereâs also complete, multiplayer-capable versions of puzzle action favorite Puyo Puyo, and the seminal Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, both robust offerings in their own right. Mahjong is back, a gym offers track-and-field-style minigames for above average experience gains, karaoke and a cat cafe provide enjoyable distractions, and a simple-to-master darts minigame features a substory that lets you take on a real-world darts legend.
Yakuza 6 also maintains the series convention of including more titillating pursuits. Cabaret clubs return, with a choice of six hostesses for Kiryu to woo through conversation minigames. Also notable is the particularly risque Live Chat, a minigame which sees you pay money to watch live-action webcam shows (featuring real-world AV idols, no less), while hitting button prompts to progress to the point where you can watch the models strip their clothes off and moan suggestively. The unambiguous objectification of women in these minigames continues to make their inclusion uncomfortable in their own right. Their presence does truthfully reflect prominent parts of the real-world Japanese nightlife and adult industries, but these kinds of minigames have always perpetuated an unbelievable inconsistency of character for Kiryu. Thereâs a conflict between the canonical depiction of him as a strong, stoic, honorable saint, and a version who is a creepy, bumbling pervert. After ten years, itâs still hard to believe Kiryu is someone looking to build a harem as big as the orphanage he owns, who madly exclaims âBOOOBSâ and âITâS GROWINGâ when a woman takes her top off. These activities do have their moments, thoughâthe text-based quips of Live Chat participants can sometimes be laugh-out-loud funny, and courting hostesses mean you get to see additional, phenomenally good karaoke videos. But in the grand scheme of Yakuza 6, where heartfelt themes pervade all of Kiryuâs character interactions, these minigames feel like distant outliers.
The iconic red-light district of Kamurocho still plays a big part in the story, though it has a noticeably smaller area size this time around. Youâll still feel at home if youâve visited the area before, but there is a significantly disappointing lack of access to the Champion District and Park Boulevard areas. However, the distinct sense of a vibrant, bustling city still remains, and thatâs amplified by what feels like a more detailed and densely populated world. Walking around in the first-person mode is enough for you to appreciate all the surface level intricacies and changes, and thereâs a new element of verticality with increased rooftop access. But there are also some great advancements in the way the city invites you to engage with it.
Yakuza 6 now rewards you for interacting with the world in a way that previous games didnât. Eating at the gameâs many restaurants, which was previously really only worth doing if you needed a health boost, is now the most convenient way to rack up experience points to spend in the gameâs extensive upgrade system, though youâre limited by a new stomach capacity meter. Purchasing and drinking beverages from one of the numerous vending machines around the world will give you cheap, temporary combat buffs. Every mini-game, from the batting cages to playing a round of Space Harrier will also earn you experience. The result is that slowing down and taking your time to soak in the atmosphere of the city will benefit you, and the world is no longer just a pretty path for you to run down to get to your next objective. Now, you donât necessarily have to feel guilty for letting yourself be distracted by Mahjong for hours.
Onomichi, Hiroshima is a region that is larger than previous accompanying locales have been, although the sleepy port town is a much quieter, more unassuming area than Kamurocho. Situated by the seaside, cute greenery arrangements line its single-story businesses, an above-ground train splits the area, and narrow pedestrian walkways snake up the steep hills, leading to an impressive temple with spectacular views. Itâs a charming, authentic-feeling recreation of the more tranquil parts of Japan, which both you and Kiryu learn to cherish. The townâs relaxed atmosphere and characters exemplify the Song of Lifeâs wholehearted themes.
Of course, in order to keep that tranquillity, sometimes you need to pound a few dirtbags into the ground, and the gameâs updated combat system follows its philosophy of slimming and focussing. Gone are the variable fighting disciplines introduced in Yakuza 0âthe Kiryu of Yakuza 6 is equipped only with an expanded version of his signature brawling style, perhaps another refrain to the seriesâ beginnings. It still maintains its characteristic weight and rigidity, but there are additional factors that make the act of fighting feel more fluid than itâs been in the past, turning encounters as a whole into more dynamic and exciting experiences.
Enemy mobs are larger in The Song of Life, and crowd control takes a more prominent focus because of that. Set-piece fights that make up central story moments regularly see Kiryu and his companions go up against dozens upon dozens of enemies at onceâa ratio that is frequently amusing. As a result, the properties of Kiryuâs attacks have been altered. His throwing maneuver swings a victim around before letting them fly. Each combo string now allows him to execute two finishing blows as a default, and the second typically lunges forward with a wide attack radius. Starting a hard-hitting combo with some wise positioning means that Kiryu can feel like a human wrecking ball as he cleaves and plows through a group of assailants. You can frequently create domino effects that send enemies crashing into each other, and thanks to the gameâs new physics engine, into environmental objects like rows of bicycles, through glass windows, and potentially, into stores and restaurants.
Thatâs the most significant change to combatâit now benefits from seamless transitions between world exploration and battles. Getting into a fight on the street no longer means coming to a jarring halt for a few seconds while a splash screen pops and civilians gather to restrict you to a small area. Fights now have the potential to move through the city and into areas like stairwells, rooftops, convenience stores, restaurants, and a handful of other accessible building interiors. It also means you have the opportunity to make a break for it if youâre not in the mood to throw down. The dynamism and uninterrupted flow this gives to Yakuzaâs combat is a real wonder, and means that random battles are less likely to eventually devolve into monotony, as they could in past games. You could be strolling down the street, leisurely drinking a can of Boss coffee or taking a selfie in front of the cat cafe, and a gang of thugs can suddenly interrupt you, forcing you into a tight stairway brawl that eventually spills out onto a rooftop. Or, you might try to run and hide in a convenience store, unsuccessfully, and find yourself destroying shelves and sending snacks flying until you put an end to the chaos by slamming a thugâs head into a microwaveâjust donât expect the clerk to serve you afterward. Combat in Yakuza 6 is exciting, and the situations you might find yourself in positively echo the kinds of scrappy, tense struggles you see so commonly in East Asian gangster films.
Another sticking point is one thatâs been present in all of the gameâs iterationsâthe inconsistent visual presentation. While the scenes that deliver pivotal plot events are absolutely spectacularâwith uncannily lifelike character models, dramatic cinematography, and exceptional Japanese language performancesâscenes that present lesser moments, like substories, are a dramatic drop in quality. As in previous games, they feature far less detailed character models and wooden, sometimes non-existent animation. Static camera angles also play a big part in aggravating their dullness. Substories make up a significant part of Yakuza games, so the low-end visuals continue to be an unfortunate blemish. Yakuza 6 is also entirely voice-acted for the first time in the series, and because the performances go a long way in enhancing the humorous and earnest moments these missions can contain, itâs a shame that the presentation doesnât go to the same efforts.
Yakuza 6 reins in its scope, but doubles down on what has made the series great. Itâs a unique and fascinating representation of the modern Japanese experience, worth playing even if youâre a newcomer. The narrative is dramatic and sincere, and the gameâs endearing charactersâcoming from all walks of lifeâare interesting studies. The world is dense and rewarding to exist in, the dynamic combat system stays exciting even after youâve kicked the crap out of five thousand enemies, and perhaps most importantly, Yakuza 6: The Song Of Life serves as a fulfilling conclusion to the turbulent, decade-long saga of its beloved icon, Kazuma Kiryu.

Consider problems as challenges.
Recognize what you can change and what you can`t.
Improve your time management.
Live a balanced life.
4) Novel and Adaptive Thinking
Are you able to come up with out-of-the-box ideas? It is the sort of skill that will definitely set you apart from other candidates while applying for a job?
