Might be an unpopular opinion but if your pilgrimage/retreat/spiritual quest is someplace with fraught local politics around tourism, airbnbs, and second home ownership...you should be aware your magical quest is also glorified tourism, and you should probably make sure you're doing it as ethically as possible.
