I want to write a fic where it’s the early episodes of Guardian. Shen Wei has just been reunited with/introduced to Zhao Yunlan. He doesn’t know if this is the man he knew, or a reincarnation, if Kunlun has forgotten him entirely, or if he’s playing games with Shen Wei’s head (I have my own theories about this, but I digress). Regardless, the man he loved and the relationship they had seems to be long gone, and you know Shen Wei probably grieved a little, even as he celebrated finding him again.

So the days go by and he becomes more and more certain that Zhao Yunlan has no memories of him. And Zhao Yunlan’s attitude toward Dixing is harsher, less kind than Kunlun’s had been. This isn’t his Kunlun, this isn’t the man who promised him they would be together again. 

And one morning Shen Wei’s chest feels tight, like he’s coming down with something.

He coughs. Something is stuck in his throat. He coughs again, harsher, from the chest and it’s as if something is knocked loose inside him.

A dark pink flower petal sticks to his lips until he wipes it away.
