i neeeeeeeeed to know more abt your trojan ocs anytime you wanna share
heehee i got a special pookie for ya jo 🫶 (trojans ocs roster here)
06: Mateo Solano (22) USC Trojans Goalkeeper
here comes theeeeee... Bitch™
don't got a gif for him sorry
i also now realize i accidently gave him Seth's number... wow. but believe me, Mateo's sm worse. i love mi princesita Seth. i don't even like Mateo. (jk. but like, he sucks a whole lot before he gets his redemption arc. interpret that however you want.)
he's one of the seniors of the team, he's 5'9 and fucking bitter about it, he studies Spanish because he is a lazy mf who has no plan but to go Pro (fortunately he will)
106% fuckboi energy fr he's insufferable
at the start of the new season (when Jean joins) he is still crabby about Laila having rejected him when he asked her out after their loss to the Foxes (in my universe/wip, Lailalvarez are not together yet bc i want to explore their relationship from the beginnings :) )
Mateo isn't really interested in Laila anyway, though, and he doesn't know why 1) it still stings and 2) he even asked in the first place (perhaps because they are the golden goalie duo of USC, perhaps because she is better than him and has broken records, perhaps because of something else...)
he's also such a bitchy asshole to Jean, because Jean is a beast on the court and Mateo is jealous
he's single and a v because he is waiting for marriage and the right girl (siiiiiiiiike!) (still fuckboi aura tho he's that extra)
comes from a very religious household and he is a practicing believer
he doesn't really have any friends on the team (sad) because he is so prickly and bitchy, but everyone is still kind and open to him because he is very reliable on the court, in the goal, and he does not second-guess or question authority, he's very good at following orders and instructions, always aiming for the best
and though it's good for everyone that he stays in goal because of his problematic attitude that would get the Trojans carded if their opponents heard him talk, the power of bitch he possesses is also a great asset, as he easily makes any enemy player lose their temper with his saccharine remarks paired with a Colgate smile
now! the plot twist!
Mateo is what you would get if internalized homophobia + comphet had two legs and an attitude problem
he is as homophobic as Seth and Aaron were, and even more if I dare say, and though he's never outwardly a hater and never uses slurs (at least he holds back on that for Jesus), he's such a bitch about homosexuality... it makes him so angry and queasy, he'll be rude af to you, he'll leave the room fuming, not participate in conversations, that kind of thing. he tries very hard to forget about Jeremy, to overlook it, and he's not like Lucas, questioning Jeremy's decision because of his sexuality, but it's so much better when Jeremy is single... (ik how this sounds, but believe me when i say he does not have a repressed crush on Jeremy, or Jean. that's just his Exy inferiority complex.)
thing is, it becomes incredibly difficult for him to ignore all of that gayness when Laila and Alvarez get together (oh), when Levi suddenly drops Angie to get closer with their assistant coach, when Jeremy clearly has a huge thing for Jean, the Drivers come out with their own gay thang, when Coach Rhemann himself gets his shit together with his long-lost broody ex... Mateo is literally surrounded by homos.
and sure, the wlw stuff never really bothered him, didn't get the appeal (and why do you think Mateo!!!), but with almost all of his authority figures dabbling in the gay, Mateo is kind of a caged animal, and he's bound to lose control and do some very stupid things, like start fights, get benched, punch a wall or 2...
oh, and there's Yanko too.
infuriating ginger man that won't leave him the fuck alone. mountain man of steal who is somehow always right, and chill. the designated Mateo-handler, apparently, because Jeremy had to delegate that hot potato to someone with less... undesirable traits to Mateo (i'm not sure yet how the rest of the team handles his outbursts bc he's not open about why he has them, not very vocal, but there's definitely a specific thing wrong at play here whenever they happen, and maybe Jeremy has an inkling, idk, tbd)
so it really comes out of NOWHERE. nobody, NOBODY has a fucking clue. least of all Mateo. then suddenly Yanko has had enough and pushes Mateo into a wall, and kisses him, very publicly, and Mateo kisses back.
there's a whole lot that goes on behind the scenes before that first fiery PDA, and after that it all goes downhill for a while before balance is found again. anyhoo. enemies-to-lovers ftw ✊
Mateo's family is very loving and supporting of him btw <3
and that's all for now for the resident pendejo of the Trojans, Mateo Solano 👿

BACKGROUND.
Sebastian Stewart was born James Belikov, the eldest son of two spies whose world-renowned families had been in the business for generations. Him and his sister Aurora lived fairly sheltered on their Arizona ranch for the first few years of their life, cut off from civilization, with only their parent's visiting friends as rare guests. From a young age they both were groomed by their parents to be the absolute best, and nothing less. Jay Belikov grew up with a gun in his hand before he learned how to ride a bike, and instead of receiving a car for his sixteenth birthday, his parents let him and his sister join them on professional missions.
Even before they were old enough to assist on missions, the Belikovs often let their son and daughter travel along with them to wherever the mission was, only staying back in Arizona when the stakes were too high. They had never known spy prep schools or universities like Gallagher or Blackthorne existed until their family friends began enrolling, and the news trickled down to them.  Their parents had always been very adamant that the schools were useless, and the best training they could receive was by their sides, where they were treated like professionals. It was a position most budding spies would kill for.
From a young age, he had always hated the spy life. Part of it stemmed from the fact that he was never given a choice in what he wanted to do with life;  his parents were world-renowned spies, like their parents, and their children would be the same.  Him and his sister had grown up where failure was not an option, nor was arguing.  His parents, though both kind and caring in their own way, made it clear that if they wanted out of the spy life, that meant losing them for good. And while he didn't always agree with them, family was EVERYTHING to him. So he learned to push down his own feelings and keep on trekking, for the sake of his family.
In May, his parents had been on a mission when he and his sister were given word that they had been killed on the job, and were immediately sent into witness protection.  It wasn't until being contained that they learned a little more :   their deaths hadn't had anything to do with their most recent job, but likely due to a previous one that James, Clarissa and Rory potentially participated in.  Being placed in witness protection was for their safety,  and with it came new identities. Sebastian -- who insisted on going by Bash -- was devastated and in shock, but he had hoped that maybe this would mean a reason to be pushed into the normal world, one where he could leave the spy world for good. Instead, him, Aurora  ( now Spencer )  and Clarissa  ( now Summer )  were detained at a facility for six months, where they were unable to see any friends or family, have contact with the outside world, or do anything that could be considered a security breach before being sent to Gallagher Academy.
GALLAGHER ACADEMY.
Bash and his sisters joined Gallagher Academy halfway through the fall semester, thrown into majors they didn't pick and classes that had already finished midterms. For a boy who had never been to an organized school before, to say it had been culture shock would be an understatement.  However, it turned out that school was actually… something he liked ?   Not the classrooms and curriculum themselves, but being in a place with other people his age, all with similar backgrounds as him, and -- even better -- ones with different backgrounds.  Though he's met quite a few spy families through his parents, seeing them had always been few and far between, making it a very alienating lifestyle.  It was nice to be around people his own age, and though shy, Bash had been able to make friends and start a life for himself.
At the beginning of the new year, Bash had been able to change one of his majors from combat to medical training, an area that's always interested him from a young age   ( unfortunately, he was probably the only boy in America who had parents who didn't want him to be a doctor ) .  He also entered a relationship -- his first ever -- with a girl he had been penpals with when he was younger.  Of course, he couldn't tell her that he was her old friend Jay, though the truth always finds a way of coming out.  She learned the truth on the night of the Valentine's Day party, causing a rift between them right in time for the three day school-wide lockdown and murder of his very own roommate. Eventually they reconciled and he told her the whole truth, and she became one of two people outside him and Spencer who knew the truth about his identity.
That wasn't the only twist in the semester, unfortunately.  A few months later, an email blast was sent around with names of previous members of the Brotherhood, a terrorist organization that had targeted Gallagher once before, and had now returned.  Bash's father had been on that list.  This was all news to him, who had never thought his father had anything to do with spy schools, based on how he had been raised.  With his Uncle Jack  ( not related, just a close family friend )   at Gallagher as one of the alumni mentors, he had been able to learn the truth :   his father had actually attended Blackthorne Institute. Once that bubble had been popped, Bash slowly began to see his parents in a new light.
After a particularly challenging semester, Bash had been happy to get invited to Berlin for a summer internship -- not because of the experience, but because he and Spencer still had no home to return to while school was out.  They've officially been in witness protection for a year, and as far as they were aware, no strides had been made in their parent's case, so they decided to take matters into their own hands.  Bash asks his encryption major girlfriend to look into the deaths of his parents, and from hacking into the German Intelligence's system, she was able to find that they had been killed in Munich, at the hands of an assassin -- and Bash's roommate's father.
So the hunt to learn more about their deaths and the potential danger he and Spencer are in continues, all while Bash is beginning to get blackmailed by an anonymous source that knows about him and his sister's past... and threaten to expose it.  He hasn't told anybody about it, not wanting to worry them, but with so many moving parts going on in his life -- as well as an unknown future -- Bash is beginning to lose control.
PERSONALITY.
Bash is a quiet kid, not one to say much. After being homeschooled his entire life and being surrounded by nobody but his family, he’s pretty socially awkward around strangers and new people. His way of getting around it is keeping his head down and trying not to make waves, which is exactly what he does at Gallagher, though he has since found himself with more friends than he ever thought possible.
He had been raised not as an individual, but as one cog in the machine, and he always considered himself as such. His own individuality and thoughts and feelings had never really been something Bash had to take into consideration, so he's still really trying to figure out who he wants to be. Above all, he wants to get out of the spy world, but even with his parents being gone, he's afraid of ruining their legacy and losing his sister in the process. Now that his parents are gone, he wants more than ever than to make them proud.
Bash is very non-confrontational and passive, a textbook people pleaser. You could pour soup into his lap and he'd apologize. He's a great friend, and an amazing listener  ( the type to actually remember when you tell him things ) ,  but as a conversationalist ?  He could be better.
MORE INFORMATION / HEADCANONS.
He's fluent in Russian because it's his father's native language, and knows Japanese because of his mother.
Bash is fiercely protective of his little sister Spencer, even though he knows she can take care of herself.
Of all the different lessons and skills his parents had taught him, Bash has always been best at hand-to-hand combat, excelling above most men his age.  There's rarely a fight that he'll lose -- it's one of the reason he switched out of combat major to something different, because he didn't love the attention that came with it. He rarely fights or works on his combat skills, though he's always willing to help a friend out who needs it.  He's a great tutor.
What he's not good at is anything that involves cracking a textbook. Bash is an undiagnosed dyslexic, so reading and writing has never been his strong suit.  Luckily, when you're homeschooled by crazy spy parents, it's not really a skill that's needed.
For his most recent birthday, his Uncle Jack had gifted him a fishing boat that he had previously owned, named after James himself. Don't ask me where it is right now because I have no idea.
He's been a vegan since he was sixteen. His mother had been a vegan for as long as he could remember, so even before he fully made the change, it was often all he ate. Bash was a total mama's boy, as if that's any surprise.

ok so i have seen a post too many times on my dash now and i want rant about it
harry potter is bad. it was always bad. it's not a good book, it's barely average. it's lazy and uninspiring. ppl didn't come up with this the day after jkr started her terf shit. we were saying for years, yall just weren't listening.
i remember in middle school a group of other girls in my class that didn't like the books, and we would talk about it all the time. we never posted about it on our blogs, or spoke much about it outside our circle bc 1. hp fans were always so fucking obnoxious and would go into any means to blindly defend the story, and 2. a lot of them had always been grown adults that would call us stupid for suggesting it.
to read those books a friend of mine had to keep promising it would get better and better, but i never once thought it did. i never felt like rereading bc i thought it was boring. but guess what? i told her that and she said it was just my own personal feelings about the books. but they weren't. there were always ppl who did not see a single interesting thing on them, we just never had the opportunity to openly talk about it without being fucking attacked by people online until 'saint jkr' got knock off her pedestal.
so here it is: i was too young to catch on her racist terf shit, but the bad books were always beyond that. the writing is lazy, and it often feels like she treats her audience as stupid. the pacing on these is unbelievably horrible. the world building is some of the laziest things i have ever read in my life. and the laws of the universe are absurd and nonsensical. and the found family....... oh god the found family. how do u screw up the most basic trope? i never once bought a single friendship in those books. looking back it feels like 'the golden trio' were that high school situation that u hate everyone but u hate these couple of ppl less so u stick around with them bc u need lab partners. they never felt like they had shit in common except ig ok morals? and the romance was laughable. not a single kid she wrote felt like a kid. not a single emotion she wrote felt genuine. i remember that always being my #1 complaint: i just don't feel any love in those books. it never felt like the story she was telling was rooted in actual love that characters had for one another, or that she had for it herself.
but that's just a quick look-through. i am just saying ppl always complained about this, no one ever cared to look into those complaints tho. but it was there. we are not saying we are 'better' for having seen this. we are saying that there people here questioning the unconditional devotion ppl had for this for YEARS, and no one cared to listen. if u still love them fine. but don't pretend they are such groundbreaking things for which its merits are unquestionable bc they are, indeed, very questionable to a lot of people.
now about the said post. no, the op is not suggesting hp was some 'industry plant' made for a capitalist plot. op is pointing out that average ya series often get published, and go unnoticed. op is pointing out that yes, a bunch of publishers refused jkr bc the series was just meh, and probably didn't mean to waste their resources publishing it. that one of those publishers probably picked it up for some easy money in sales. and that's it.
the point of the post is to say, hp became what it did, bc it was on time that the market was not yet oversaturated with franchises and that the series offered a sea of merchandise opportunities. that isn't to say that this was the plan all along. only that this push the movies forced into the market in later years is why to this day we cannot escape from 'house themed' products in every single website in this world.
u think hp became a worldwide phenomenon that lasts to this day bc it was 'good'? no, it wasn't. franchises come and go all the time. you can probably name 3 franchises u cared a lot as a kid and have now fallen into oblivion bc the hype passes, people find new things, and these are forgotten. the reason why big names like harry potter and star wars stay opposed to the other ones is BECAUSE they are highly marketable for toys, clothing, home products, and new series/movies/books/content in general.
harry potter isn't still on the world's mind bc it was good. it is bc warner bros and universal parks wanna keep marketing the shit out of this so u don't stop buying their licensed mugs on ur local fast fashion store for ur friends birthday, and visiting the parks for a stupid train ride.
