I made one for Splendorman, so now is Trenderman's turn

The list will be a little bit longer because a lot of my thought process is linked on his lore and more story-oriented headcanons (which I'll be writting in another blog soon) so I have to give lots of context and more glossed over explanations

First things first, I know its says right there that he uses browns and neutral colors, and that is right. I just wanted to make an American Psycho reference bc I'm taking a lot of inspiration from Patrick Bateman for Trender's character.

He wears lots of neutral colors to be as little noticeable as possible since his methods involve him hiding on plain sight. But that also can be a way to cshow his indifference and his ideals and views of fashion (as he is also based on minimalism and is a very close-minded person, believing there's only one way of living: the mainstream).

I kept the brown to be true to the original character and still have him recognized by the community. But also to make him seem harmless since brown is a very cozy color usually used for background characters.

His style also helps with this. I took inspiration from 50s trends since the 50s are known as a very casual and friendly-looking decade despite being extremely conservative and intolerant. Also because they used lots of knitwear which help for the "false sense of security" thing.

Like Splendor, Trenderman has a more brownish and "natural" skin color, only he's more desaturated. This is because he does spends a lot of time within humans and is interested in fashion -a very culturally significant aspect of humanity- and how their society works, but he does not give a shit about them. He uses humans and the things he learns from them for his own gain and other than that he's very anniliated from them, being way more alien than his relatives sometimes.

He does not have tendrils. Personally I could never view him with tendrils or tentacles, so I just didn't give him any, I'll be glossing over this in my future blog about the Faceless' lore, but basically there were complications on his birth (and he tecnically is disabeled now that I think about him). He is also very short for his species for the same reason.

Since he literally comes form a mannequin I want him to have stiff and very artifical mannerisms. He moves like a robot. And I think that can also help with the uncanny feel of his character and how he tries to give his victims a false sense of empathy or relatability but he ultimately fails because he just isn't human.

He is very expressionless by himself already anyway. Even more than Slenderman himself. So, design-wise, his glasses work so people are drawn to his "face" and see where he is facing but also to further understand that there will be little to no reaction since they're pretty much static the whole time in my drawings.

Character-wise, he uses them to further disguise himself and keep that feeling of relatability, he doesn't actually need them or anything.

I think those are all the points I have. I'm really excited to show you guys my lore for Trenderman, like- I see a lot of potential in his concept and I'm having so much fun writting down his personality and views and methods and stuff. He definetly grew on me.

abt the ned thing - i was amazed ariel was seen out with ned with her wedding ring on cause my ex cheated on me and i put a nail in his tire, but then i was like... yeah. she has the try wives podcast, she has that baby podcast with him, they have a youtube channel or w/e. i think she also has a store but i would imagine the VAST majority of her income is from ned-associated shit. she CANT hardly leave him. what we've learned is that you never tie your income to a man.

Yeah, I'm not so surprised either because of some of the reasons you already mentioned. I mean they probably had a month now to discuss and plan this situation and public announcement through. I also understand, emotionally and financially, if Ariel wants to give it another try. They have two small kids, they built a house together and she also invested into the Try Guys. It is also such a scandalous, public affair that it can lead to them actually sticking close together, at least for a while, bcs they're going through it together, even if it is his fault.

Personally I think it depends on the people how they handle cheating, I don't think one size fits all. I also think a drunken peck on the lips is a different level of cheating than a full blown, one-year, affair and those things often require different measures. Though my personal feeling is when someone's partner is going behind their partner's back and lies for an extended amount of time and never comes clean on their own...kick the cheater out and don't look back it's unlikely you'll ever be able to trust them again.

Anyway, we don't know these people. So it's all just speculation based on what little facts we have.

Maybe she knew about his cheating, maybe they had some open relationship type arrangement? I mean, apparently he was known for drunkenly getting touchy with women on nights out for a longer time. I totally doubt she would agree to that but I guess that's the only way I can make sense of him cheating so publicly for so long...

Honestly I hope she doesn't have to worry about the financial aspect if she should leave. Her and the Try Guys/Try Wives seem to be real friends to a degree and it looks like they all took her side. If they're real ones they could say 'hey Ariel, don't worry, we'll take care that you don't have to financially struggle as long as the kids are still small, we support you/keep working with you' 🤷🏻‍♀️

From my very limited and subjective impression of Ned, I would not be surprised if he would cheat again if she should take him back. He seems like the type who might grovel for a while then feel like his ego isn't fed enough and hook up again with a younger chick. But that is my realism/cynicism, you decide. The TMZ pics where he looks so smug and smiley are of course only a snapshot of a moment but it doesn't make him look good, it makes him look like he enjoys the attention.

lol I'm not a Try Guy fan, if I was/am ever a fan of something buzzfeed related it's the Ghoul Bois. But I am aware of the Try Guys since so many years. I draw and that's an activity were you often consume a lot of media in the background and over the years I did end up watching a couple of Try Guy's related videos every couple of months. Enough to know the who is who and the relationships. I think when Eugene's coming out video dropped they were more on my Youtube radar again. I'm mainly here because the gossip is so juicy, like that the wife guy gets outed as cheater WITH AN EMPLOYEE is just such irony and I just really have a personal hate for guys who cheat, especially on women who raise their kids, and I never knew enough about Mulaney and that Maroon 5 guy to care. lol

Hello my sweet angel! I would love to share my skincare routine omg it’s something that I definitely take a lot of pride in and find really enjoyable! Usually, every morning, I wash my face with a foam cleanser (I use a rice water based one) then pat some toner on my face (I have the one from Klairs) then pat some serum afterwards (there wasn’t really a brand for it and I’d just gotten it from Amazon) and then, after that, I use Klairs’ rich moist soothing moisturizer cream (it’s pretty expensive, but I highly highly recommend it like my face always feels so dry bcs I’m legit always cold and it’s always so uncomfortable and this cream is on a whole another dimension like it makes my skin feel so soft and so smooth and there’s no dryness at all and it’s just honestly super freaking amazing) and then I end it off with the UV Essence sunscreen from Klairs!! I still apply sunscreen even when there’s no sunshine outside just bcs it helps makes your skin feel a whole lot healthier and I’ve gotten used to using it! I got all of these sets from one bundle from Klairs and I took advantage of it bcs there was a discount (which explains why there’s a lot of Klairs products here) and I’ve been using it for about six months now and it has done so much magic to how my face looks and my skin and my mom is always complimenting me on the transformation of my face bcs I went from this acne, dry-faced girl to this girl with such smooth and rejuvenated face and one key thing to do is just to make it a routine everyday until you’ve reached that point where you literally cannot imagine yourself not doing it bcs it’s been ingrained into your schedule for such a long time!! I also have some sheet masks from Innisfree (they’re on Amazon and they come in like 18 packs and there’s a discount and this is my second set that I’ve ordered bcs I ran out of the first set and they come in different ‘flavors’ and I highly recommend them!!) but I don’t use them very often and usually only on Sundays bcs that’s the day I usually do an ultra shower and skincare regime and lather some lavender lotion on my skin while playing Hozier’s songs in the background, but I still definitely recommend them bcs they’re so fun to use and so simple! I’ve never really learned how to use makeup and I enjoy little to no minimal makeup so having a skincare routine is definitely very crucial to my day and, when I do feel a bit extra, I use BB Cream (the one from Maybelline is the only one I’ve ever used) but I haven’t used it in a while bcs I feel really comfortable with my skincare routine that I don’t really feel the need to do it most of the time + I don’t really have anyone to impress at school kjdskjfj! Hello there, I feel you're the best person to ask about this. If someone was learning Mando'a, but didn't have any experience in learning languages, what should they learn first? I'm aware Mando'a is missing a lot of basic words, so would that be an issue?

aww thank you, that’s very sweet of you to say !! 

actually, before I get into it since I don’t want to take all credit, I just want to recommend also speaking w/ @jacensolodjo as we’re both fairly conversational in mando’a. @cassiansfuzzyjacket regularly releases mando’a vocabulary once a week in addition to general mando posts. @thesummerstorms also works on developing mando’a and missing words with the above and myself. There’s also general mandalorian reconstructionists around tumblr (@suspendnodisbelief being one of the people who posted really interesting development wrt mando’a and mandalorians in the past, and I think still does? EDIT:: also @reconfemmandoforares ). I am definitely missing people, but these are the ones I’m most/easily familiar with so we can start there. I’ll make a post eventually.

I also peruse the mando’a and mandalorian tags/searches often.

Also generally I would be careful w/ mandalorian reconstructionists bc a few in the larger community perpetuate toxic beliefs (toxic masculinity being one of the most common along w/ sexism, but also ableism, racism, and specifically catholic interpretation of mandalorians) that don’t actually … exist. That’s a discussion for another day, but the general conlang mando’a resources are worth checking out if you can find them, keeping the aforementioned in mind.

There’s also the MandoMercs forums, and I would caution exactly the same as the above when entering the community.

Okay. So. That said, I won’t beat around the bush here: learning mando’a can be difficult because, like you said, the language is missing quite a few basic words. Learning mando’a will, at least in the beginning, require maybe having easy access to a mando’a dictionary and creative use of words.

Things you might need to remember:

The rules for mando’a are more like … guidelines … and sometimes to get the point across you need to play fast and loose with grammar. 

If you get too creative w/ word construction, some people are not gonna be able to follow you/your meaning. 

This isn’t necessarily a reflection on you, however, but a downside to limited vocabulary.

Drop words that aren’t absolutely necessary (cuyir, “to be / is / are,” is a big one, te, haar “the” is another, etc) 

mando’a does not recognize/utilize gender markers.

For me, personally … learning / being able to speak some french has been incredibly helpful for mando’a pronunciation and verb conjugation, but not so much on the combining words to make other words. German, on the other hand, is great for that. English is also guilty of doing this, but you know … lol.  

Sentence structure often reflects English, possibly because the origins of this conlang are meant for ease of translation with a majority English-speaking audience and the people involved did not have any familiarity with nor background in linguistics (which also may explain the missing basic words). 

Generally, in learning new languages, we tend to remember words that are most relevant to us / used often. But the process of learning language is kind of difficult, especially if you haven’t before — because there are different ways to learn new languages, and what works for one person might not work for another. ie. some people retain language better with writing down phrases and vocabulary repeatedly or writing/reading in the language, while some others learn better via auditory lessons and verbal recitation / jumping straight to practicing with others.

Admittedly, I am (slowly) trying to compile basic necessary words that are missing in mando’a and filling that gap, but that project is a long, long way from completion (I mean, look how long it took for us to settle on the word for boat lmao). And, bc of the nature of language in general there may always be multiple words meaning the same exact thing, and multiple ways to say the same thing.

What I mean is that there is no “right” way to speak mando’a, so long as your meaning gets across clearly, concisely, and sensibly. At its very core, mando’a is a language meant to be easy to speak and easy to understand. Try not to get bogged down in excess, and any time you can shorten and simplify a sentence do it. You can outright drop entire words, so long as context can be derived.

That aside, also remember most importantly: have fun with it.

I know, I know “that’s so corny” but l i s t e n. Mando’a is meant to be a constantly changing, evolving language. Enjoying messing around with the conlang, coming up with new words/phrases or breaking down existing ones to see the how/why, is some of the best ways to familiarize yourself with the language.
