Important lore stuff from today’s Tales of the SMP : The Wild West + The In Between!
It's a Wild West episode! Featuring the good guys- John John the Bartender (Ranboo), Percy the Banker (Tubbo), Sherrif Sherman Thompson (Technoblade), Crops (Corpse), William Williamson (Bad), Ron Ronson (Fundy) and the bad guys - Mason (Sapnap), Jack Kanoff (Quackity) and Connor (ConnorEatsPants).
Karl strolls up to the bar in a quiet wild west type town and encounters John the bartender being harassed by bandits Mason, Jack and Connor. He's in the process of getting robbed again. Karl manages to kick them out but they swear to come back for revenge. The group is a formidable threat that has been terrorizing the town for some time now.
Karl makes friends with John and promises to help him get rid of the bandits.
John leads Karl around to the Church. The Priest has died though John says he'll be back in three days.
John and Karl make a plan to recruit people from around the town in their attempts to rid of the bandits.
He takes him to the bank where he meets Percy, the banker and his Banking Bee. Percy tells John that they've lost money and have been robbed. Karl promises Percy to help him if they decide to work together, to which he agrees. They then head off towards the jail.
They go inside and meet Sherriff Thompson, to ask for his help. Sherriff continues to remind them that he's a week away from retirement.
Oddly enough at the jail there is a wanted poster for Sir Billiam from the Masquerade episode. Billiam apparently was wanted for running off from the town with much of their money three months ago. It is unknown what his current state is.
As they ask the sheriff for his help they meet Crops, a cannibal in jail for his crimes (though he is let out daily). He has eaten the priest. They successfully recruit him after promising him one of the bandit's heads
They then had to the post office and meet Ron Ronson, though he says they can call him "Michael" and recruit him.
Next stop is the store. They meet the storekeeper, William Williamson. He begs the gang not to steal from him as he hasn't sold anything in 15 days. He hats the bandits because they would come into his shop, touch stuff and not buy it.  William agrees to help them.
The muffin William holds has Skeppy's face on it!
The sheriff teaches them how to shoot in prep for their standoff.

The gang sits around a campfire, talking about how glad they are to have time together before the standoff. Suddenly, the bandits reappear! Mason and Jack threaten to kill the group in a straight line until Karl tells them it's time for a standoff.
Connor goes against the Sherriff first. He doesn't turn around in time and is killed immediately. Jack and Crops go against each other next. After some odd flirting (?), Jack says he'll see Crops in the afterlife. Crops tells him he won't. Crops shoots before ten paces are called and kills him.
John goes against Mason for the final confrontation. Karl thanks John for everything and John tells him that after this is all over, he'll do something new with his life. Unfortunately Mason kills John, who drops a shit ton of milk and anvils. The milk lore continues.
MASON VS KARL showdown! Mason shoots and misses while Karl kills him with his shot.
The group celebrates their win and make it back to Church to talk about John and his life. Crops is nowhere to be seen. Karl bids them all farewell and says he'll likely never see them again. He goes back down to the mines and says he hasn't been time traveled out yet. He says that maybe he'll live here forever if that's the case.

TRANSITION TO THE INBETWEEN!
____________________________________________
Karl reads a book that talks about the In Between and how it is a place to be at ease.
The books tell him that he can tap into the In Between for the better.
He sees versions of himself walk around all over the halls and through him. They can not see him, but he can see them. They all seem to be previous timelines/versions of himself that passed through. Time always occurring at once, never in a linear line.
He learns from several books around the In Between that there will always be secrets left undiscovered because of the nature of the castle. The Castle is alive and it changes, grows and adapts along with time. It will help Karl find out the bad done to him.
He finds a book titled "?????". It tells him to look under the tree.
He finds a book titled "Main Room" that tells him that not everything needs to end in misery. It tells him that stories can be happy, and they can be miserable but one is not more important than the other. He sees the huge white tree with something at the base titled "STOP".
He opens the book, 87 pages long with "DON'T STRAY FROM THE PATH" repeated over and over and over again. He leaves the area and does not check what it could be.
Karl learns from another book that he has gotten closer to the end and it reminds tells him to not tell anyone about the In Between. It also tells him that when he returns to the present to preserve the stories, his library will look different.
"I know you don't want to lose your friends. I don't either."

THREADS THAT HAVEN'T WRAPPED UP YET:
_______________________________________________
Sir Billiam and his whereabouts are not known but the Wild West + Masquerade stories exist in the same timeline.
Crops disappeared at the end of the episode, though this might have been a goof.
Karl did not return to the present at the end of the episode to write/preserve the story though he has in every previous episode.
He is left in the In Between at the end of the episode.
There are two conflicting consciousness/existences of Karl that want two different things. One wants him to stray from the path, the other doesn't. What could be under that tree? Could this imply the intentions of the In Between are worse than we think?
