One thing I wish MASH fic would do more of is examine how context makes the distinction between nudity and nakedness. It's a good fandom for this because realistically, all these people have seen each other naked a whole lot. That goes double for the ones who actually live on top of each other in a tiny tent. No one is turning around for modesty to get dressed. I don't enjoy fandom posts that giggle about the guys showering together, because that sort of thing is routine. Any boundaries they had have long since fallen by the wayside out of necessity. That in and of itself is fascinating! But when you add shipping to it you get a lot of really interesting potential. How do feelings change that? How is seeing someone undress for sex, or undressing them yourself, different from all the times you've seen them undress to change clothes or to sleep because it's one billion degrees outside and you live in a tent? And I know people tend to fall back on classic romance tropes when it comes to seeing skin, but it doesn't really make sense to me to do that with gay people. A lot of gay people have a lot of experience with non-sexual nudity with members of the same sex while simultaneously experiencing same-sex/gender attraction. I want to see that reflected more!
