#thomas kinkade puzzle

The puzzle I was working on last week was this pretty 1000 piece Thomas Kinkade Studios puzzle. Its a cheaply made basic ribbon-cut puzzle you can get anywhere that was gifted to me at Christmas, and I have another one I'll do later this year, but I really did not enjoy this one.

The cut was too generic, cardboard too thin, had some false fits, and the sky gradient wasn't distinct enough to tell the difference between color sections. Also although I grew up on Kinkade Puzzles, at this point they are all made by a studio who doesn't sign or share who these ghost painters are on their work, since the painting is designed to evoke the work of this past painter, and as an artist that bothers me.

Plushie Squad 2024

I bought myself a jigsaw puzzle and wondered if I'd made a mistake. So I enrolled the help of my Tracy plushies

Gordon immediately found the coasters

Virgil needed coffee, as he face planted into the puzzle box. Gordon suggested using my coasters

John made a few unhelpful suggestions- trust me, I've tried, I really have. The edges are hard to figure out. I always thought the sky would be tricky. But not in this case

And Scott and Alan wished that they hadn't volunteered, and were both eyeing up my Christmas cake.

As long as they have a piece of Wensleydale cheese with it, they can help themselves

I bought a puzzle featuring one of Andy Russell's paintings a while ago and I'm so obsessed with his work honestly. this is like if Thomas Kinkade was actually good... they're so saturated and distantly fantastical, i aspire for my art to look similar in a lot of ways. also this guy has like no formal training and didn't become a professional full time artist until his late forties which is pretty cool

So I'm starting my Christmas shopping finally and I just finished my sister's family. I got sister and BIL a combination 4 500 piece Disney puzzles (and they're really pretty because it's Thomas Kinkade art) because they're into puzzles and with 4 for $16, I thought it made a good combo gift.

Now for the kids, is actually saw an add for a remote dinosaur on Tumblr and just looked for the same thing on Amazon and found one for less than half the price. Since I was giving nephew a remote control toy, I went the same route for the niece and got a remote control Minnie in a car with the simplified control for a two year old.

Everything came in for just above $45 and that's pretty good for a family of four I think. I still have to shop for my parents, younger sibling, aunt, pets, and BFF. I'll probably buy one or two gifts with what I have left and save the remaining gifts for December's money. I like getting it all done in November but it is what it is.

At least I don't have to worry about wrappings. I have a lot of holiday gift bags form a pack I got last year and I got wrapping paper from my Nephew's school fundraiser. Meanwhile a charity sent me the loveliest to and from stickers and 2023 calendar so I will be donating to them this year. I always pick one or two charities to send a small donation to this time of year.
