PUNK ASS FUCKING ROYALTIY SHIT ASS FUCK YOU LORD OF HORIKAWA YOU FUCK I HATE THAT MAN SO MUCH BECAUSE IM BIASED BITCH ASS MOTHER FUCKER ID THROW HANDS WITH HIM ALL DAY LONG ALL DAY FUCK
Also woo, I shill JIGOKU all day and all night. You are entitled to therapy and questions of consern for your mental well being from me. The rest of this reblog is going to be me yelling about Hell Screen stuff. I need more work understanding this peice and this is my excuse. Also, I am like the narrartor but biased toward Yoshihide instead so obligitory take everything I say with a grain of salt.
Why are you sacrifcing little boys, oh great Emperor of Horikawa?
OR or, lets think for a bit. On your knees in prayer, PRAYING NOT TO DIE. FUck. YOu.
I dont know anything about hiarchy but what is he supposed to do, poor painter man, interupt the high people's oh so coveted time and risk punishment? All he needed was a model to paint, if they looked pretty or accurate, what the fuck does rank in the palace matter?
This one feels like foreshadowing to a reason why Yoshihide would want his daughter away from this fucking Lord of Horikawa man. Yoshihide is just being used as a scapegoat here. That sounds like Mr. Lord Of Horikawa did something to them.
Ohh this is where that quote came from. I've already read this several times but my adhd brain has a habit of just skimming.
Single father. What the fuck do you mean "Not above hiring street thugs." What else can he afford or get if people keep calling him ugly names beheind his back, you need to protect your child. Yeah? Yeah?
That's called Focusing On Your Work. WHat man. What.
How else is he supposed to research? In fact, why is there a corpse on the roadside you fuck? Is Lord Of Horikawa not doing his best to govern his citizens? Is he running them over with his ox? He's too busy fucking woman, aint he? I don't fucking know.
This is after the nightmare, this is not even Yoshihide at any worse, man is having a night terror and you still feel the need to demonize him.
My guess is Yoshihide knows he needs to strangle someone, so he picked someone who looked strong and bulky who could handle getting choked, but this is just be thinking very generously. Of course, no one wants to get choked so he doesn't go, "Im going to choke you for a while." because that's not Yoshihide's style. People are already demonizing him, no sane person is going to agree to letting him get choked.
ALSO MR NARRATOR SERVANT MAN, YOU ARE JUST WATCHING. I guess from your point of view, it wouldn't make sense to object to such a *sigh* unreasonable grumpy stubborn old man and there might be socio-political factors but come on. Stop acting like you care. You don't seeem to. You ass.
Then snake comes out of no where some how, legitimate shock to everyone. That's not Yoshihide's fault.
This scene, fine. Whatever. I can't completly defend Yoshihide here when the owl comes for the child. He should have known better not to touch a bird that might not fully trust him, even if its feeding, esspecially from the back. They are sadly not that chill, you just got this bird Yoshihide. You have not developed a relationship with this bird, I own birds, I don't own birds of prey and their temperments are probably diffrent compared to a bird who is prey as opposed to a predator raptor, but you can't preen or touch them if they don't know you.
But, I don't think he threw the owl at the apprentice on purpose, that's my headcanon. He only got up to paint because it was already happening in front of him and he needed to hussle.
It clearly says "Yoshihide was a man who simply hated to have anyone pry into his business, ... he would never let his apprentices know what kinds of things he had in his studio." Moments later, Yoshihide answers the young apprentice, YOU DON'T NEED TO LOOK AT SOMEONE TO BE TALKING TO THEM AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL. LET ME FOCUS ON WHAT IM DOING WHILE TALKING TO YOU, I DONT MEAN TO BE RUDE, OK? ITS THE AUTISM. I KNOW YOUR THERE, ITS NOT NATURAL FOR ME TO LOOK AT YOU. WHAT THE FUCK DO I LOOK AT? Your nose? Your cheek? If I look into your eyes, that's akward for me, ok? Almost vomited just thinking about it. Ill look at you in the eyes I guess but some people find that hostile so what do you want?
I think Yoshihide legitimatly called the other apprentinces to help out this other apprentice being mauled by the owl and its also dark, and then the snake again. After that, the apprentice is fine. Hes fine, you didn't say anything about that, Mr Narrator Servant Man.
Because hes stressed. I also would stay away from someone who is STRESSED. OK? (I like having beef with fictional characters, its fun and no one gets hurt most of the time.) This is the only way to get his daughter back, he thinks. Hes begging for it, praying for it.
Skipping SA scene but this is a big reason why I really don't like Horikawa. Im also skipping around because I'm getting tired.
Horikawa you bitch.
HORIKAWA YOU FUCKING BI-
Mr. Narrator Bitch Ass Servant Simp still needs to shoot the artist while hes down, eh?
I have problems deciphering this part. The narrator switches sides breifly. Yoshihide just feels so much contempt because his one and only daughter and their monkey was just burnt in a carriage. It's easy to say its beautiful as an outside observer but come on, that's his daughter. It's a complex feeling beyond rage because on one hand, your finnished. This was the best way to end the art. On the other, still your family memeber getting burnt and catching on fire. He's broken. Fuckass Horikawa should be fucking sad. He should be ashamed.
Fuck you and your fucking shit Horikawa. FUck you. FUck you. This is such an ABUSER RESPONSE. Abusive fucking response you shit. This is how abusers rationalize hitting their children, ok? To punish and teach them a lesson, get the fuck out of here. Get the fuck, the termites in their time machines better get to you faster than I will you peice of shit.
Fuck you. You people suck. Yoshihide and Yuzuki and Yoshihide (the monkey) deserve better then this. He has nothing left but his art. Your lucky as shit he event had the drive to finnish the peice before his death. God, and then you just forget him, just like most artist are treated. You saw the art, you enjoy the art, you don't give a shit that their blood, sweat and tears went into that peice. Labor. They don't get to see their families sometimes, they get demonized, they get mocked, art is very underappreciated as a medium that can change lives and hearts and thoughts thinking, rewritting, and me as an individual am no diffrent to that, someone who also takes a lot in their life forgranted. I'm getting heated for no reason. I'm using targeted langauge but this isn't an academic essay, this is me wanting to put letters to post. I need to learn more about this courtship culture and this higharchy to get more off this text, im doing it such a dissevice.
But yes, unreliable ass narrator. I will throw hands with him any day of the week. That is all I can say.
Hell Screen
narrator: Yoshihide was an artist that everyone hated and who was an awful person, but his daughter was kind and sweet and everyone loved her so we all kinda tolerated her dad
Yoshihide: I would do anything for my daughter, Yuzuki. I can't paint something unless I've seen it with my eyes.
Yuzuki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filial_piety
Lord Horikawa: You've painted some nice art for me. I'll do literally any favor for you now.
Yoshihide: Can you release my daughter from your service
Lord Horikawa: no. fuck you
narrator: he wasn't in love with her or anything, he just felt bad that Yoshihide was her only family.
Lord Horikawa: Also I'm commissioning a massive scene of the Buddhist Hell, artist who can't paint something without having seen it
Yoshihide: ok
[various agonies of Yoshihide's apprentices]
[psychological agonies of Yoshihide also]
Yuzuki: [is seen growing unhappier and more stressed as the days go by]
narrator: people are saying Lord Horikawa's forcing himself upon her. this is false because he is too cool. this is Yoshihide's fault
[incident in which the narrator encounters Yuzuki fleeing from what was clearly assault]
narrator: yeah
Yoshihide: I'm almost done with the painting. I just need to see a maiden burn in a carriage so I can paint it
Lord Horikawa: okay [puts Yuzuki in a carriage and burns it]
narrator: stop saying it's because she didn't reciprocate his love it was clearly to punish Yoshihide for being so fucked up. I know this is true because Lord Horikawa said so
-- End --
#thoughts about hellscreen#aghhhh#i wanted to sing before doing studying today but this was more important use of my time clearly#joking but this was fun skiming and re-reading a bit of hell screen again#have a nice day op!#re-reading yuzukis death for like the 5th? 6th time? aughhhh

formulating small thoughts on all of the sinners in limbus so far (some vague limbus company spoilers, LARGE TEXT WALL WARNING):
yi sang - the blorbo. the scrimblo even. he is definitely one of my favourite sinners after canto 4 (will post my full thoughts on that later) which is surprising because i didn't really like him that much before at all. i was really neutral on him but canto 4 has just made me love him to bits
faust - she is super interesting to me, considering her source material i think she has the potential to have the best canto. i am also just constantly entertained by her antics (hell's chicken was the BEST for getting to know everyone a little more outside of the main plot. i'm super excited for 4.5) it's obvious she's hiding something, i think dante even mentions as such, but i think that makes her cooler. she is the one who (presumably) recruited all the sinners and vergilius, so she's rlly rlly interesting and i hope we get to know more soon (soon as in 2 YEARS WHEN HER CANTO IS OUT)
don quixote - definitely top 3 sinners for me, she's everything... she grew on me so much, after things like her moment with sinclair, the facade slip in canto 2... she's just super interesting to me and i'm really excited to see what comes with her canto. plus her favourite moment of mine which is the bongy chicken log where she talks about eating the chickens, and then proceeds to not own up to it. phenomenal job don
ryoshu - hellscreen is one of my favourite pieces of literature referenced by limbus, and it's real fucked up. ryoshu is very entertaining to watch, though she rarely speaks. seeing sinclair translate her acronyms is very silly and overall as a character i really like her so far. excited to see what's to come for her
meursault - i like meursault, there's no one i actively dislike, but i'm just neutral on him. he's cool i just dunno how to feel about him yet. his source material is cool though i'm excited to see how his canto goes. his moment in hell's chicken was silly and made me like him a lot more
hong lu - he's silly. i think all of the sinners are silly but hong lu takes the cake. though after canto 4 i've started respecting him a lot more, he can be really mature and he is a sweet little guy he's just a little dumb sometimes. i really enjoy his presence in the group though, he's great, i can't wait for his canto (though i'll probably never read his source material because of its sheer length, but i'll probably force myself to eventually because i am interested). thank you project moon for making me read classical literature
heathcliff - funnily enough heathcliff was one of my least favourites out of the group at the start of the game, but he is definitely one of my favourites now. it's been really sweet to see him gradually start to care about the other sinners and he has mellowed out a lot which i appreciate. wuthering heights is cool and i'm excited to see his canto (which i think is coming after ishmael's, so hype!)
ishmael - ISHMAEL. she is amazing. wonderful. beautiful. i'm not sure if i'd say she's my favourite sinner but she is definitely in my top 3 with donquixote, though if you asked me idfk who else is in the top 3. SO excited for her canto and she seems really interesting from the tidbits we got about her so far. like, she's gone to the outskirts? i hope she finally gets the closure she needs and deserves (..and we get a sea shanty from mili LOL)
rodya - the mother of the group... rodya was another character i didn't really care for at the start of the game but she's SO sweet and i don't understand how i didn't like her. canto 2 wasn't my favourite but it was really silly and i hope she gets another focus canto at some point because it feels unfair that sinclair and yi sang (and probably everyone else from this point) get a mili song but gregor and rodya don't??? i dunno, i really like both of them and i think it's a shame since their arcs didn't feel complete.. so hopefully she gets more spotlight!
sinclair - sinclair is very very cool. i like him very much, his canto was really interesting and kromer was a really cool villain, i like seeing him slowly gain confidence over the story and demian looks to be a really cool character as well. like gregor and rodya, his arc didn't feel fully complete to me (?) but hopefully he can get more of a spotlight in the future despite canto 3 being phenomenal already. i am not opposed to more sinclair content, he fits in the group really well and he bounces off the other sinners well. i really like him!!!
outis - words cannot describe how excited i am to learn more about outis. she's such an asshole but we support women's wrongs. was there any need to make fun of sinclair like that in canto 4? no, but she did it anyway. she seems to give less and less of a fuck about maintaining her relationship with dante every canto and i find that hilarious, outis is amazing. i'm really excited for her canto, i like her a lot
gregor - he is done so wrong in his canto. SO WRONG... gregor deserves the world, all he has ever done is be a cool guy to the rest of the sinners and he was the first person to kinda be nice to dante. and that was from the start as well. massive respect to trauma dad he is amazing. i hope he gets more spotlight soon, he works so well in the group and he has such fun interactions with everyone.
dantehh - they're so cool. they're so amazing. shuckaroonies they are a really interesting character. i really REALLY appreciate that they're not a self-insert because i think that would shatter my soul. i'm really interested to find out who they are, how this whole reversing people's time came from and where they came from because faust seems to know who they were before. they are a very good executive manager. well done on scoring those goals for lcg you absolute legend
these obviously aren't my full thoughts on all of the sinners, i'd love to do individual posts analysing all of the sinners and possibly a post with predictions about the next cantos based on the their respective source materials. but this is just how i feel about them after engaging in limbus for about 2 months and getting into lobcorp and ruina. (if you have read this far, and somehow haven't played these two games, PLEASE PLAY THEM THEY ARE SO GOOD...........)

on the subject of music: i think ryoshu would like jun togawa's music! she was a japanese singer who mostly worked in the 80s, and her stuff was very satirical of a lot of themes and aspects of japanese pop idol culture, and a lot of her stuff was a big influence on avante-garde art in japanese culture - her song "suki suki daisuki" mostly focused on the violent feelings that arise from cute aggression/combining love with violence, and while i can't remember which song it was specifically i know there was a song about a girl turning into a bug? she has a huge amount of range in her voice, she can sound both high-pitched and cute but also sing in a deeper, more powerful and almost operatic voice.
also her music videos and some of her costumes in them are DELIGHTFULLY weird :,D maybe ryoshu might enjoy her work
Listening to Jun Togawa. First thought when i listened to "suki suki daisuki" I see what you mean about her switching tones. I envy vocalist that can easily switch their tones, its one of my vocal goals i guess. Always respect vocalists that switch between tones. Such a gen-z thought but this is the sodikken of those days hehe. Every youtube comment I read loved mentioning the girl turning into a bug part. I listened to Suki Suki, Radar Man (I keep hearing "RIIDAR MAN" because im a kamen rider fan), Osozaki Girl, Tamahime Sama and Mori no Hitobito. Edit Actually: I ended up listening to all of the Tamahime Sama album. I found the insect song! It's Musi no onna
When singing, its good to think of your voice as an instrument and she plays with that perfectly. I'm loving Teinen Pushiganga.
Yeah, I think Ryoshu can appreciate it. She might think its campy but in a good way. If not, Yuzuki can love this music enough for both her and her mother. Tamahime Sama feels very Hellscreen lyric wise or a song Yoshihide would like. It reminds me of Naraka, specifically the hell of Mahāraurava when snakes are birthed inside the sinner's body. It's the hell for deceiving others (i need to do more research on Naraka, i've neglected that.) Translation I'm looking at here X.
I might also agree with the translator, might also just be a period but it plays off Akutagawa common trope of unreliable narrators or deception with how the image is? (Given the only ones ive read so far to full are in the grove, Rashomon, Hell Screen, and The Nose)
Thank you for this, I like her music! THE PUNK VERSION OF MUSI NO ONNNA IS PLAYING AS A TYPE THIS AND ITS PEAK. I'm listening to more later, I just came home an hour and a half ago. Thank you so much anon!
#others thoughts about ryoshu#thanks for the ask!#i like her works now!#esspcially cause musi no onna sounds like ode to joy and i like it#saterical eh?#i wonder if mili took some inspiration from her..#i love music that gives thoughts of ryoshu thank you for telling your thoughts anon!

Someone said they were interested in this and one person is really all I need for validation
warning for a long as fuck post
General story themes of alienation, dissociation, revenge, obsession, deception, reality v unreality and of course TraumaTM
Of course the most obvious allusion here is to The Inferno with the 12 being referred to as "sinners" and the words "abandon all hope, ye who enter here" first made famous by The Inferno having it inscribed on the gates to hell, being found in the trailer and in the twitter page description.
The Divine Comedy - Dante, Virgil
Themes of:
Perfection
Justice
Salvation
Choice and Love
Because of this The Inferno is likely to be the frame story, that which guides the plot for the other's. I think we may also see some of Pugatorio since Project Moon likes to have their characters confront their past to face the future.
I think most likely the character we'll play as is Dante, similar as to how we play as Roland in Ruina and Ayin in lobcorp. Because Dante isn't named as one of the "sinners" and because Vergilious mentions he is there to guide "us" on our journey which is very similar to Vergil guiding Dante in The Inferno through hell itself. So I think we'll see something very similar here with Vergilious guiding us through the nests of the city.
Speaking of hell, there are famously only nine circles of hell in the original text, this is where i imagine limbus company will differ since there are 26 nests, but we may see nine "levels" to the dungeons/abyss of ego at the end of the missons to retrieve the golden boughs
I don't want to go too far into the sinner's stories since i haven't read all of them but also because i think this video does a good job explaining those anyway . However the general themes are as follows:
Formatting is: sinner [book/author] -themes
Gregor [Metamorphosis/Kafka] - depression, alienation, burden, unable to fit in
Rodion [Crime & Punishment/Dostoyevsky] - delusion, materialism, literal fringes of society (backstreets)
Sinclair [Demian/Hesse] - reality v ideals, overdependent, insecurity
Yi-sang [Wings/Yi-Sang] - surrealism, disassociation
Ishmael [Moby-Dick/Melville] - obsession, revenge
Heathcliff [Wuthering Heights/Bronte] - obsession, possession, revenge
Don Quixote [The Ingenious Gentleman/Cervantes] - idealism, obsession, passion
Hong Lu - [Dream of the Red Chamber/Cao Xueqin]dream v reality, obsession, wealth
Ryusho -[Hellscreen/Akutagawa] deception, honor, justice
Mersault -[The Stranger/Camus] depression, obsession, dissociation
Outis -[The Odyssey/Homer] deception, heroism, blank slate
Faust - [Faust/Wolfgang von Goethe] dissatisfaction, deception, power
from this I can generalize that the character arcs will involve facing reality, tearing off a "mask" that the sinner might wear to either protect themself or hide themself from others and why they are working under limbus company. This is also where i think Purgatorio will come in a little with the seven deadly sins and with each sinner needing to face their past, desires, or what lies within them.
Despite popular belief the seven deadly sins, envy, wrath, pride, gluttony, sloth, lust, and greed don't send you to hell. Rather to purgatory, at least according to Dante. Purgatorio also has the theme of love show up again with the first of the three sins (pride, wrath, envy) relating to love of others suffering, sloth being a deficient love, and the final three (lust, greed, gluttony) relating to excessive love. Here we can also relate these three groupings of love to: obsession, possession, and disassociation. If we were to group the characters according to this it would look something like
Love of Suffering -Pride/Wrath/Envy
Ishmael
Ryoshu
Heathcliff
Gregor
Deficient Love - Sloth
Yi-Sang
Mersault
Sinclair
Outis
Anyway thats about all I have so I hope it gave you all some food for thought or idk some insight into the sinners.
Excessive Love - Lust, Greed, Gluttony
Don Quixote
Faust
Hong Lu
Rodion
I wrote up a whole ass post on limbus company and how I think the lore will work but then I deleted it bc i was like lol who cares
