"Years actually and it's getting way too easy for me. I may move up to bigger things." Shuffling more, he spread some out and licked his lips. "Pick a card and don't show me it." A smile came across his face, he loved making new friends.

She had been enjoying a perfectly peaceful afternoon sunbathing by the poolside, her playlist playing on her Bluetooth speakers, and a half-finished mimosa sitting on the table next to her. Serena was transported to that Hawaiian resort she’d visited last summer, only to be brought right back to reality when she heard his voice. She thought that he wasn’t going to arrive until next week, but obviously, he changed his plans. Rather than get up and greet him, she stayed where she was, sprawled out on one of the beach chairs, eyes covered with sunglasses and her skin glistening with the sunscreen lotion she’d already applied to her skin. Don’t let him come over here, please, she silently begged, not wanting to deal with him so early in the day.

Carlos looked at the other he’d made his way to Serena because Parker had told him he’d be safe with her, but in truth after what Henry told him he’d never be safe again, staying with these people would get them killed and he didn’t want them to suffer especially if he could take it on himself. “Well I suppose I learned it from Parker then, he was always around when I was growing up… I hate not being able to see him or talk to him…”

"Oh--- shit," Nate laughed, arm around Serena to keep her close (and from falling) as the bedside lamp hit the ground. He really hoped that wasn't one her mom had picked out-- Nate couldn't remember if she was back in her Art Deco era or not. He looked back at Serena, the biggest grin on his face. How did he get so lucky? Serena was perfect and he'd give anything to freeze this moment with her.

Não era a estratégia que ele mesmo havia dito ser a melhor, mas ir para um encontro com Liv nas atuais circunstâncias não parecia uma ótima ideia. Não era que ele não quisesse a parte do relacionamento quieta e calma dentro de casa ─ ele queria. Porém, ele queria ainda mais alguém que estivesse disposto a ir em todas as loucuras com ele ─ fosse não dormir depois de trinta e seis horas de balada ou uma viagem pro Hawaii inesperada pra surfar. Talvez o maior dos problemas entre eles fosse o fato de que Serena havia falado que tinha ido ali pelo dinheiro, e ele tinha seus problemas com quem dava essa priorização ao dinheiro ─ ele mais do que ninguém sabia como dinheiro era bom, mas se ele perdesse tudo que tinha, ela ainda gostaria de estar com ele? Bem, levando em conta os dois, talvez eles nem acabassem juntos. “E não, eu não pensei com o meu pinto dessa vez,” ele afirmou, oferecendo a mão para ela. “Você sabe cozinhar? serena was fuming by the time dinner was over. she had tried so hard to be the perfect hostess for her husband, his friends and their families and yet she felt as if everything was falling apart. not dinner itself. but her. them. he was teasing her, it was the only possible explanation. she excused herself from the room, catching him by the arm just as he was about to return to the group. once alone in the hallway, she glared at him with angry eyes, words coming out in a hiss. "I can't believe that you would try to make me jealous in front of my husband and our friends!"

⸻   THIS  WAS  an  unfortunate  result  of  both  her  job  and  the  people  she  ran  with.  being  stuck  in  an  alley  with  blood  all  over  her,  unable  to  tell  where  hers  ended  and  his  began.  the  fucker  had  gotten  away  from  her,  but  would  no  doubt  tell  tall  tales  of  their  escapade  this  night,  and  sadie  was  more  than  alright  with  that.  scaring  someone  off  with  her  powers  (  if  they  could  be  called  that  at  all,  seeing  as  most  of  what  she  did  was  invisible  to  other  people  and  they  didn’t  actually  do  much  )  was  a  better  alternative  than  actual  killing  anyone  who  bothered  her.  now  she  just  had  to  figured  out  how  to  fix  this  mess  she  put  herself  in,  but…  well,  that  was  a  bit  easier  said  than  done.

sadie  managed  to  drag  herself,  half  crawling,  to  serena’s  place,  which  was  the  nearest  of  all  her  capable  friends.  not  that  she  had  many  of  those.  alright,  it  was  the  only  person  she  knew  didn’t  actively  dislike  her  who  lived  closer  to  the  alley  than  her  brothers,  even  though  it  was  still  a  fucking  long  way  away.  “  need  help,  ”  she  breathed  heavily  after  knocking  on  a  window  and  staring  through  it  like  a  creep  until  serena  noticed  and  opened  the  door.  “  not  all  of  it’s  mine.  ”

if elijah was being completely honest, this wasn’t exactly how he expected his night to end up as . that’s not a complaint, not in the slightest, a special delight swimming in his chest as he sits across serena, all too pleased with himself . elijah’s the clingy type, he knows that well by now, even if serena is something relatively new to his life, someone he’s still trying to work in there and he hopes they become someone he sees more . the offer was almost blurted out as he tugged a sweatshirt on, cheeks flushing pink the moment their gaze landed back on him . was it silly ? he feels shy almost, after everything, but as he sits across from them, offered face masks draped over their skin and music playing over speaker, elijah can’t help but feel some relief . “ is that one okay ? ” he inches forward, concern drawn over features as he reaches to adjust the sheet mask over their face . “ I have more too, if you don’t like that one . can’t have me fucking up a shoot or something for you with a bad face mask . ”
