Watched this friday’s episode! Here’s my brief commentary on it (keeping it under the cut bc spoilers):
I’m sure that most of the people who have seen this episode agree with me that this can’t be the last we saw of TRio. It just would not fit at all. Even if they did actually end up going their separate ways (again, which is /highly/ doubt. TRio belongs together, full stop, and the writing team knows that too) I’d like to think that we would at v least see glimpses of what they were doing/where they went after the separation, but instead this episode cut to other stuff immediately after their argument. So there’s just no way that won’t still be resolved. Anyway, Latias finally showed herself and looks like Hunter J’s long lost brother is taking over in the next episode, it’s been a while since we’ve had some actual drama in pokeani so I’m kind of looking forward to that. (but WHAT DO YOU MEAN 2 EPISODES LEFT??????? That’s not ok)
Other than the episode ending rather abruptly, I actually found some of the stuff (such as, James teaching Mime jr to do puppy eyes and Brock’s paradise scene) kinda fun and it could have been an enjoyable episode if it weren’t for the weird ending. But guess we’ll have to stay tuned to see what really will happen.
Ps. even though not every mon of tr’s was ‘physically’ present in this ep, I was glad that at least we got a lil montage of them. Even though /MAMA/ was missing. How dare.

Damn, just saw last week’s episode and I think someone must be cutting onions nearby... (I blame the Laverre City music :P) Episodes like this hit me hard for some reason but I’m glad that the Banette had a lovely reunion with its owner in the end :’) (also I love the duo Misty-Croagunk who keep Brock in line)

Watched last week’s MPM episode (yeah, I’m a bit behind with this)! It was a p nice one, lots of old friends (bayleef ♥), old music too (special shoutout to the Hoenn music which I probably should have expected because so much water), TR was used well (imo) and the ending legit caught me off guard. Yes, I was definitely thinking at some point ‘why don’t they use a poke ball’, but they actually /addressed/ that in the end and I didn’t expect that so it made me laugh out loud. Also, seems like a recurring theme in these eps that Brock and Misty point out Ash’s good qualities and idk, I find that p sweet. He is a pokemon master already even if he doesn’t know it yet.

Watched the newest pokeani ep! (spoilers!)
While the plot itself wasn’t necessarily something we haven’t seen before (Ash and Pikachu have definitely been separated in the past too), I loved the little twists and nostalgia moments this episode had. Instead of having to rely on Pikachu to get rid of the Spearow, Ash decided to help it, and similarly he befriended a Rattata unlike the one he met in the very first episode. And Pikachu and Caterpie staring at the moon obviously reminds me of the scene in early OS where Caterpie tells Pikachu about his dream to evolve, only this time the roles are sort of switched and we see a lovely montage of Ash&Pikachu moments from past seasons (S&M20!!! ♥ And no, I definitely did not tear up during that scene :P). If you ask me, this is the kind of episode I /do/ want to see during Ash’s final season, one that showcases his character development and special bond with Pikachu. (I loved how Brock and Misty acknowledged that Ash doesn’t seem quite the same without Pikachu. And even TR chose to not try to capture Pikachu after such a heartfelt reunion)
Tbh the only real nitpicking I have re: this episode is that they put Snivy in it... only for the 1 scene. If they are bringing old mons back I’d prefer they’d give them proper screen time. In the scene where Ash and Pikachu were falling I was hoping she’d pop up again and use vine whip to catch them but na, they used Latias instead... but well, can’t have everything. All in all I still enjoyed this episode and the nostalgia stuff definitely worked for me.

Time to comment the newest episode a little (spoilers):
While I know that the battle caused some controversy among the fans (Yeah, I was not thrilled that Ash lost but it was only 1 on 1 and Corphish probably hasn’t battled in a long while, so this was not exactly comparable to a championship battle) I personally really enjoyed this episode. Many funny moments and lots of callbacks to OS (the kid me is secretly kind of happy the clauncher/udeppou took a liking to Corphish bc I always felt it was unfair how Misty got togepi after they had a fair battle). I am super glad Misty acknowledged having seen Ash’s battles (the CHAMPION!) and as someone who grew up watching OS the final scene, and well, all the other references also made me happy (btw, just bc Ash claimed the Cilan lure works better doesn’t mean he doesn’t value Misty’s. This is just Ash’s way to talk to her). We haven’t seen Ash and Misty interact 1-on-1 probably since early OS so it was fun to get to see that dynamic for a whole episode. I also liked the music choices in this episode, some BW and OS and a remix of the Galar battle music... Also, I loved seeing some of my favorite Ash mons, aka Toto, Corphish (that I will probably be calling heihei from now on. Lol) and Rowlet but not gonna lie it would have been fun if the ones that didn’t get to battle had done more than cheered on the bg. But sadly there’s only so much screen time in one episode, I do understand why it wasn’t possible.
Now I’m very much looking forward to seeing next week’s ep with even more chaos in form of Brock and Cilan!! (Also, Latias following Ash confirmed)

The episode itself wasn’t anything /mindblowing/ (that’s fine, I wasn’t expecting it to be) but oh my I am sucker for nostalgia and I loved seeing Donphan, Noivern, Buizel and Sceptile in action... And Ash taking care of Latias like Brocko taught him a long time ago :’) BUT NEXT WEEK. Not only Misty, but ROWLET??? I am sooooo excited for it, can’t wait!!
