#tigers#lions#jaguars#mountain lions#snow leopards#leopards#cheetahs#trivia time...#mountain lions and cheetahs are the two biggest cats that can purr#that is because they actually belong to the felinae genus like small cats and aren't panthera like the other big cats#however while none of the panthera cats can purr there are two who can still meow -- tigers and snow leopards#tiger meows sound more like moos and moans due to the size of their vocal chords but listen to them enough and they are definitely meows#meanwhile snow leopards can actually only meow and scream... they can't roar like the other panthera cats#also snow leopards are a separate species from leopards#and despite their name they're more related to tigers than they are leopards#and another thing... tigers and snow leopards are the only cats that can chuff#many mistakenly think that chuffing is something that all of the non-purring cats do but lions jaguars and leopards don't do it#they mainly growl and roar... jaguars and leopards have a distinctive roar that sounds like a buzzsaw#anyways... i'm obsessed with big cats as you can tell ๐ธ
