the answer is yes, and maybe. everything in me says yes 100% watch it, and i assume as someone who likes cryptids youd have a particularly soft spot for folk horror, but at the same time it's not everyone's cup of tea, and i get that.

if you have seen or enjoyed the movie midsommar's aesthetic, you will absolutely like it. ari i think very obviously drew i visual inspiration from wicker man for midsommar, a lot of the shots and thematic symbolisms are present in both (you could attribute it to being "about" paganism, but i mean...some scenes are very parallel) but i think there are very obviously some direct references/tributes since wickerman really is one of the origins of the modern folk horror genre. (i attribute most of the parts of midsommar i enjoyed to my thorough enjoyment of wicker man, because otherwise i didnt much care for a lot of parts of that film myself)

be forewarned: quite a few boobs, lots of very casual talk about sex and sexuality, definitely not a "watch when your parents are in the room" movie, if that bothers you. oh and also its a musical.
