I’m on air from Panama to Istanbul with Turkish airline.
There are many “Chinese migrants” flying on this flight deported from Panama/ USA.
This is what I found out.
At Panama Tocumen airport gate 35, I saw many migration officers. About 5 officers with “Migracion” on their Jackets. They were escorting Chinese people. Roughly 20 Chinese. They were young. Many women. No children.
I asked one of the officers, “I’m a journalist researching about migration issue. Are those Chinese from US? Are they migrants?”
“They are not migrants. They came to Panama but not allowed to enter the country so they are escorted to the flight from Panama.”
However one of the Chinese man told me a different story.
“I was going to the US but got caught”, laughing.
They were illegal aliens seeking to enter US.
As passengers were going through the gate, some of us were asked to stay at the gate including myself, one Chinese lady, Panamanian lady and a white man.

Aeromexico’s Unprecedented Achievement
Aeromexico emerged as the most punctual global airline in 2024, with 86.7% of its flights arriving on time, as defined by arrivals within 15 minutes of the scheduled time. This milestone, highlighted in aviation analytics company Cirium’s annual report, marks a significant leap for the airline, which was previously ranked outside the top 10. Cirium’s CEO, Jeremy Bowen, described the achievement as “absolutely a surprise” during an interview, attributing it to Aeromexico’s robust company culture, investment in modern equipment, and strong collaboration with its hub, Mexico City International Airport. Notably, the airport also ranked fourth globally for on-time flights.
Other airlines in the top five included Saudia (86.35%), Delta Air Lines (83.46%), Latam Airlines (82.89%), and Qatar Airways (82.83%). Delta, in particular, was recognized as the “best global airline for operational excellence” for the fourth consecutive year, reflecting its balance of punctuality and scale as one of the largest airlines worldwide.
Global and Regional Insights
Globally, the on-time performance rate declined slightly by 0.5% in 2024. This dip was partly attributed to a Crowd Strike software update that grounded thousands of flights, as well as abnormal weather conditions. Despite these challenges, several regional airlines outperformed their global counterparts. South Africa’s Safair led the regional rankings with an impressive 93.82% of flights arriving on time. Oman Air and Copa Airlines followed, with on-time rates of 90.27% and 88.22%, respectively.
In the Asia-Pacific region, Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways continued to dominate, although their on-time percentages slightly dropped compared to 2023. Meanwhile, Europe saw Spain’s Iberia Express and Iberia secure the top two spots, reflecting consistent performance from previous years.
Top Airports for On-Time Performance
Airports also played a pivotal role in ensuring punctuality. Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid International Airport topped the global rankings, with over 86% of flights departing on time. In the medium-sized category, Panama’s Tocumen International Airport led with 90.34% on-time departures, while Ecuador’s Jose Joaquin de Olmedo International Airport was named the most punctual small airport globally, with 91.38% on-time departures.
The report underscores the significance of punctuality in enhancing passenger satisfaction and operational efficiency for Aeromexico. It also highlights the importance of synchronized efforts between airlines and their hubs in achieving industry excellence.

Exploring Panama: Navigating Airport Transportation with Ease
Panama, a vibrant country known for its rich history, diverse culture, and the iconic Panama Canal, attracts millions of visitors each year. From bustling city life in Panama City to serene beaches and lush rainforests, Panama offers a wide array of experiences for every traveler. One crucial aspect of any trip is efficient and reliable transportation, especially when navigating from the airport to your destination. Here's a comprehensive guide to Panama airport transportation, ensuring your journey starts smoothly.
Arriving at Tocumen International Airport
Most international travelers arrive at Tocumen International Airport (PTY), located just outside Panama City. As the primary gateway to the country, this modern airport caters to a significant volume of passengers daily. Upon landing, navigating your way to your accommodation or next destination can be a seamless experience if you plan your transportation.
Options for Airport Transportation
1. Taxis: Taxis are readily available outside the airport terminals. They provide a convenient and quick mode of transport to various parts of Panama City and beyond. It's advisable to use authorized taxis to ensure safety and fair pricing. Most taxis accept cash, and it's a good idea to have some local currency (Panamanian Balboa) on hand.
2. Ride-Sharing Services: Popular ride-sharing services like Uber operate in Panama City. These services offer a modern and often more cost-effective alternative to traditional taxis. Using the app, you can easily book a ride to your destination, ensuring a hassle-free experience upon arrival.
3. Shuttle Services: Many hotels and resorts provide complimentary shuttle services for their guests. It's worth checking with your accommodation in advance to see if this option is available. Shuttles offer a comfortable and direct transfer, often with knowledgeable drivers who can provide useful insights about the area.
4. Public Transportation: For the more adventurous traveler, public buses (known as "Diablos Rojos") and the metro system provide budget-friendly options. The metro line is relatively new and connects various key locations within Panama City. While public transportation is economical, it may not be the most convenient if you have a lot of luggage or are unfamiliar with the routes.
Choosing the Best Option for Your Needs
When deciding on the best mode of transportation from the airport, consider factors such as convenience, cost, and personal comfort. If you're traveling with a lot of luggage or prefer a direct route to your hotel, taxis or ride-sharing services might be the best choice. For budget-conscious travelers, public transportation or shared shuttles can be excellent options.
Exploring Beyond Panama City
Once you've settled in Panama City, exploring other parts of the country is highly recommended. From the historic Casco Viejo district to the picturesque San Blas Islands, Panama has much to offer. For intercity travel, Panama Local Transfer Transportation services are available, providing reliable and efficient means to explore various regions.
Safety Tips for Travelers
· Book in Advance: For peace of mind, especially during peak travel seasons, consider booking your airport transfer in advance. This ensures availability and can often provide better rates.
· Stay Informed: Keep updated with local travel advisories and traffic conditions, as Panama City can experience congestion during rush hours.
· Use Reputable Services: Whether choosing taxis, ride-shares, or shuttle services, always opt for reputable providers to ensure safety and reliability.
Conclusion:
Planning your transportation from Tocumen International Airport is crucial for a smooth start to your Panamanian adventure. Whether you prefer the convenience of a taxi, the affordability of public transport, or the comfort of a shuttle, options are plentiful. For reliable and professional transportation services, consider visiting ptytransfers.com for more information and booking options. This ensures your journey in Panama is as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.
