It’s my birthday next weekend and all I want to do is go skateboarding with my kids. Should be fun if the weather holds up!

If I remember right, Dennis at Familia said this mug was designed by artist and owner of Send Help skateboards, Todd Bratrud. There was another mug with Gargamel busting a 360 kickflip, but this Snoopy mug spoke to me. 😀

Mugshot Monday - “Old Man Mug” by Todd Bratrud for Familia Skateshop with Morning glory Blend by Peace Coffee

I told my kids I posed for this coffee mug -- because I’m an old man who still skateboards. 😂

They laughed at my dad-joke. But I consider myself the luckiest dad to have all three of my kids get into skateboarding. What’s even cooler than that is my sister’s kid skates, too!

That means I get to tag along at skateparks with them and carve around and re-learn kick-flips all the time. And I get to watch them learn how to ollie, learn how drop in, and learn heal-flips. It’s so much fun skating with your kids.

This mug art is by legendary local illustrator Todd Bratrud for Familia skate shop. I love it.

I also love the vibe at Familia. Owner and pro skater Steve Nesser has helped set up new decks for my kids. And Dennis Burdick is always super stoked answering all their skateboard questions and telling them stories. Dennis also let’s me know when new Familia mugs are coming out.

The concrete is a lot harder now than when I was a kid, but I hope to keep pushing my board for many more years to come. I know as long as these kids are still skating, that’s totally going to happen. Cheers!

Nike SB Dunk High Strawberry Cough Drops on Nike SNKRS Next Week

We recently found out that the Nike SB Dunk High Strawberry Cough will be releasing at skate shops on October 22nd. Today another update has been reported as the highly anticipated SB Dunk will be releasing on Nike SNKRS just a few days later. The Nike SB Dunk High “Strawberry Cough” is designed by artist Todd Bratrud, who also helped design the “Skunk” and “White Widow” SB Dunks. Inspired by the popular strain of marijuana, this Nike SB Dunk High features a textured red leather upper with green hairy suede overlays to mimic the look of an actual strawberry. Additional details include green hairy suede Swooshes, a coughing strawberry logo on the heels and insoles, and a translucent rubber outsole. Look for a Nike SNKRS release to take place on October 26th for $110. Will you be going after a pair?
