hi i cannot stop thinking ab kakashi as hunter right. like both their identities are centered entirely around approval from the higher-ups and being better than everyone around them yadda yadda i could do an entire analysis ab this.

but kakashi finding out everything that danzō really did, immediately going into a panic attack like “i can’t go back he knows he knows i can’t—i can’t go back” and literally throwing his golden guard cloak off, everything that hunter did, before he runs out.

he gets into the first few layers of forest, literally like unable to breathe, before he’s like “where tf am i even going j just said i can’t go BACK because he’ll kill me!!” that thought alone is enough to send him running again—he just wants to get away, he wants out—straight into shikaku. his first instinct is to seek comfort, because shikaku has been nicer to him recently and shikaku showed him approval. but then he’s like “wait no no no you’re with the emperor i can’t—you’re going to turn me in i can’t go he’ll kill me” and he nearly escapes before shikaku grabs him, just making sure he won’t go, and explains that no, he and minato and xcharacter are working against danzō and kakashi’s safe with them, and kakashi just breaks. because what’s he gonna do, run away and live on the streets? danzō will find him. go back to the fox den? danzō knows where that is and he knows he’s been with obito. like if he outs himself here and gets himself turned in, oh well, it’s a quicker death.

he starts trying to explain, but nothing comes out. he’s so tense, shaking, and he collapses, just wheezing and holding himself and he wants to explain but he can’t. he literally can’t get words out; hell, he can barely breathe. and shikaku and minato sit on either side of him, just laying a hand on him to show their presence, to let him know that he’s protected, and they jsut let him breathe it out.

he probably passes out within a half hour. the next morning, he tries to talk about it again, but the thought of opening up makes him tear up and he shuts down again. shikaku doesn’t force him.

And Kks is Hunter (the last of his clan and just trying to prove his worth) with Danz.o being Belos (I would explain more but, it's MAJOR spoilers for the show)
