Doel is dat de teelt van vezelgewassen voor bouwmaterialen groeit van circa 2.000 naar 50.000 hectare en de verwerkingscapaciteit naar minimaal 400.000 ton vezels per jaar. De Vrije Akademie werkt met professionele kunstdocenten en is sinds 2021 een gecertificeerd kunstencentrum. U kunt vragen stellen en kennis maken met de kunstdocenten en alle informatie krijgen over zo’n 60 cursussen op de open dag. Er is van alles te doen en te zien.  In Kerkrade zijn 2 nieuwe jonge vakkrachten aanwezig die u alles kunnen vertellen over nieuwe cursussen  edelsmeden. Tevens kunt u in Landgraaf informatie ophalen over een nieuwe cursus kunstgeschiedenis en het pottenbakken eens ervaren. Er zijn ook komend cursusjaar weer diverse losse workshops gepland zoals bijvoorbeeld een sjaal vilten, werken met droogbloemen, kralen van keramiek, mozaiëk en zeepjes maken. Diverse cursussen tekenen & schilderen De cursussen schilderen bieden uiteenlopende technieken zoals ‘schilderen in olieverf, acryl, aquarel, pastel, abstract schilderen met acryl, model en portretschilderen. Alle cursussen zijn geschikt voor zowel beginners als gevorderden en worden gegeven in groepen waarin iedereen ook individueel wordt begeleid en zijn eigen stijl ontwikkelt. In Kerkrade starten onder andere Martijn van Erp, Wim Albrink, Joop Noordkamp en Esther Bour weer met hun cursussen tekenen & schilderen. In Landgraaf gaan Martijn van Erp en Ton Laeven (schilderen zoals de oude meesters) starten met een nieuwe schildercursus. Thea Dautzenberg geeft in Kerkrade de intuitieve cursus schilderen via de methodiek van ‘Vedic Art’. De lessen en workshops worden gegeven door vakkrachten; ‘toppers’ die vanuit hun opleiding en passie grote affiniteit hebben met het vak en dit kunnen overbrengen op de cursisten. Cursussen boetseren & keramiek, pottenbakken, edelsmeden en fotografie Marlies Noordkamp, Marjo Boesten, Ivon Drummen en Maria Stams starten met nieuwe cursussen in boetseertechnieken en portret & model. Ook voor edelsmeden, pottenbakken en digitale fotografie kunt u terecht bij ervaren docenten op onze open dag en allerlei vragen stellen. Saïd ten Brinke zal een presentatie geven over zijn fotografiecursussen voor beginners en gevorderden in Kerkrade. In Kerkrade kunnen volwassenen bij Arno Sijben deelnemen aan de cursus ‘verbeeldingskracht’. Deze cursus sluit aan bij hoe kunstenaars ‘denken en werken’ en is bedoeld voor volwassenen die zich willen ontwikkelen volgens aanpak die past bij profesioneel kunstenaarschap. Orientatiecursus kunstacademie en het open jongerenatelier Wil je weten of de kunstacademie voor jou een geschikte opleiding is? Dan is de Oriëntatiecursus Kunstacademie echt iets voor jou! Een aantal professionele docenten verzorgen diverse blokken in deze cursus in diverse technieken zoals tekenen, schilderen, kunstgeschiedenis, druktechnieken, fotografie, 3D en theatervormgeving. In deze cursus wordt aan opdrachten gewerkt waardoor een basis ontstaat die aansluit bij de inzet die men verwacht op de kunstacademies. In de eindfase gaan de deelnemers aan de slag met het presenteren en exposeren van hun werk. Als de deelnemer deze cursus met een goede beoordeling bij de Vrije Akademie afsluit, wordt hij of zij toegeleid naar de kunstacademie in Maastricht. Er zijn ook andere mogelijkheden voor  jongeren zoals het open jongeren atelier in Landgraaf en een speciale cursus tekenen en schilderen (Young Akademie). Fabulous Fashion, Kleileuk, kunst-bouwers, striptekenen en tekenen & schilderen voor de jeugd Nieuw is de cursus ‘kunst-bouwers’ in Kerkrade waarin kinderen gaan bouwen met diverse materialen. In de Fashion-cursus in Kerkrade gaan kinderen aan de slag met het maken van kleding, een ‘moodboard, ontwerpen en kennis over vormen en materialen. In ‘Kleileuk’ in Landgraaf kunnen ze bouwen en boetseren met klei. Op zaterdagochtend kunnen de kinderen in Landgraaf werken in het creatieve jeugdatelier waarin van alles aan bod komt zoals tekenen, schilderen, met klei, stof of papier maché. Er is ook een aparte cursus tekenen & schilderen op woensdagmiddag in Kerkrade. Verder kan er op woensdagnamiddag striptekenen worden gevolgd in Kerkrade en in Landgraaf op dinsdagnamiddag.

Er zijn mogelijkheden om via het jeugdfonds sport & cultuur financiële ondersteuning te krijgen. ‘Samen creatief’ Samen creatief is op maandag, dinsdag en donderdagmiddag in Landgraaf en op maandag tot en met donderdagmiddag en vrijdagochtend in Kerkrade. Op deze middagen kan iedereen aansluiten. Er wordt van alles gedaan zoals schilderen of werken met klei of hobby materialen. Reken lokaal de échte CO2-prijs, nú!

Thomas Rau, inspirerend architect en visionair, vertelde ons op de jaarconferentie van het Gelders Energieakkoord: “denk niet teveel na, denk vooruit!”. Dat was in maart 2016. Op 10 mei 2017 organiseerden we met bijna 200 Gelderse partners ons tweede jaarcongres. Jeremy Rifkin, visionair en adviseur van vele leiders van deze wereld, komt ons dan inspireren. We kijken vooruit, naar de meest waarschijnlijke veranderingen. Om op basis van die analyse te investeren in een duurzaam energiebeleid. Dat betekent bijvoorbeeld dat we voor alle investeringen de werkelijke CO2 prijs moeten hanteren. De 40 tot 80 Euro per ton CO2 biedt ons een heel ander perspectief op de keuzen die we maken.

Onze investeringsbeslissingen baseren we op kennis uit het verleden. Alsof de weg naar de toekomst rechtdoor gaat en keuzen uit het verleden ons de weg wijzen. We plannen de toekomst via de achteruitkijkspiegel. Een zwaar vertekend beeld. Over tien jaar zitten we opgescheept met oncontroleerbare klimaatverandering. Het poolijs en permafrost smelten, regenwouden verdrogen. Ontwikkelingen die op hun beurt klimaatverandering aanjagen. Massamigratie uit kwetsbare droge gebieden lijkt onvermijdelijk en de fossiele industrie is in crisis. Het politiek én maatschappelijk besef dat we radicaal moeten stoppen met fossiel energiegebruik is dan breed gevestigd. Eén van de maatregelen die onze wereldleiders nemen is het verhogen van de CO2-prijs en het uit de markt halen van CO2-credits, waardoor vervuilende landen en bedrijven ze niet meer goedkoop kunnen kopen. Het zogenaamde waterbedeffect in de emissiehandel is dan verleden tijd.

Beleggers investeren op basis van het risicoprofiel van hun projecten. Ze studeren op de grote economische en maatschappelijke ontwikkelingen en baseren daarop hun besluiten. “Resultaten uit het verleden zijn geen garantie voor de toekomst”, is hun adagium. In de beleggingsprofielen verandert de toekomstverwachting. Ook pensioenfondsen, de Europese investeringsbank en zelfs durfkapitalisten beleggen hun geld waar dat rendement zeker is. En steeds meer wordt duidelijk dat een lage CO2-prijs en een overvloed aan CO2-credits het minst waarschijnlijke perspectief biedt. Dát is waarom honderden beleggers en bedrijven als SHELL en Exxon een schaduwboekhouding bijhouden met de werkelijke CO2-prijs. Daarom hebben drie Brabantse bedrijven, Udea (een groothandel in biologische levensmiddelen, in Veghel), Artex (een stoffenhandel, in Aarle-Rixtel) en Strijbosch (o.a.keukenapparatuur, in Nistelrode), hun CO2-uitstoot laten uitrekenen en op basis daarvan investeringskeuzen in duurzame bedrijfsvoering gedaan.

Overheden doen dit nog nauwelijks. De Franse presidentskandidaat Macron pleitte onlangs voor een CO2-prijs van 100 Euro/ton. Een goed begin. In Gelderland werken we, vanuit het Gelders Energieakkoord, aan concrete programma’s. Verduurzamen van de 800.000 Gelderse woningen, de 25.000 MKB bedrijven, het transport. Stél dat we onze plannen baseren op de CO2-prijs van de toekomst? Een logische keuze. Want álle duurzame plannen zullen over tien jaar in die reële economie tot wasdom moeten komen. En stél dat we de financiering op die basis  gaan realiseren? Dan winnen wind- en zonne-energie, energiebesparing en schone technologie het ruim van de oudbakken fossiele alternatieven. Dan kunnen onze installateurs en bouwers hun bedrijfsvoering aanpassen, de mensen trainen die nodig zijn. Dan weet onze Gelderse samenleving waar ze aan toe is!

Politiek zijn we niet zover. Maar duurzame verandering begint toch niet aan de top? Die start toch aan de basis? Laat de provincie vervolgens de lobby naar ons kabinet en Europese commissie starten. Het grote bedrijfsleven is voor, getuige de brede coalitie die voor een werkelijke CO2-prijs pleit, inclusief VNO-NCW. Wat houdt ons tegen?

Usually when there’s a mouse in the house, the human inhabitants run for the hills. Here, debut children’s book author Karina Schaapman created a home just for those furry creatures. Her six foot wide, ten feet tall, hundred-room mouse mansion is made of cardboard boxes and paper mâché, and each room is filled with to the brim with all the trappings one would expect in a home - diapers and formula in the nursery, armoires overflowing with tiny undergarments, bookshelves bursting with miniature versions of Charlotte’s Web and Winnie the Pooh. The carefully shot photographs are by Ton Bouwer, and the folio-size pages allow for careful examination of each object.

This mansion isn’t for ritzy city murines; it gives off a warm, nubby, cozy feel, and the accoutrements appear pulled from a romp through an attic that hasn’t been touched since 1970. Families of gray and white cloth mice live here, and two young friends, Sam and Julia, scamper from room to room in search of adventure and fun.  There’s laundry to sort, a bakery to visit, and even a Friday night Sabbath to attend, complete with a tiny table covered by challah, candles and wine.  Schaapman’s detailed artwork is accompanied by thoughtful and informative text, and though the book clocks in at 60 pages, each chapter can easily be read as a unique tale. Pouring over the abundant detail on each page will captivate readers of all ages, and makes an excellent reading choice for snuggling up and spending a wintry afternoon with little readers.
