I was frustrated with how they screwed over Topaz in Thor: Ragnarok by killing her. However, based on the redemptions I have seen in media (except maybe Sunset Shimmer’s from Equestria Girls, which came out of absolute nowhere), redemptions usually need to have something that makes the redemption worth it, mainly a tragic reason the character is the way they are. The examples I can pull out of my head are pictured below:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Topaz, on the other hand, did not have a sad motive for her actions or a tragic backstory. She was basically like a Stormtrooper, a mook who is supposed to be seen as unsympathetic. Plus, read this page from a Marvel book:
Tumblr media
As you can see, most of the points made about Topaz on this page are negative, like how she lacks empathy for those who are less important than her and how she uses the melt stick to enforce the rules. The Melt Stick, for those unaware, does this to people:
Tumblr media
And I think they couldn’t have added Topaz to the Revengers. There would have been way too many characters on the Revengers, as well as Korg and Loki, to focus on. Topaz would have served no purpose to the story, and it would confuse the audience if she just randomly was like “I’m sorry for trying to kill you” like Sunset Shimmer did in Equestria Girls. Plus, villains don’t usually get redeemed in the MCU. It’s rare for that to happen.
What I mean by all this is fingers crossed we do get a redeemable Rachel House villain….
(And to think I used to want an ending where Hela causes the apocalypse, which would have been the result of Thor dying or being trapped on Sakaar forever…I know better now!)

Sara Elizabeth (Moore) Hall - Circa 1880's - Weston, WV My great-great-grandmother. Married to John Watson Hall. Crop of a scan I made of the original small tintype photo. Spent a couple days retouching all the bad scratches and grunge off the image. The pink cheeks are a retouch done to the original photo by the photographer. I'm impressed by how neatly and subtly he was able to do that retouch on such a tiny photo! I think it was only 1/8 plate size at the most; only a couple inches on the longest side. This was a common retouch done at the time.
She died in 1892 from consumption at age 42. Her husband John would live to age 68, dying 1908, and her daughter Edna May would live until 1984, just a few months shy of 99 years old. I remember going to Edna's funeral when I was 6, almost 7, years old. That is the first funeral I remember going to, and I think she was the oldest person I have met - meaning, I think she's the only person I've ever met that was actually born in the 1880's. I knew nothing about her parent's Sara and John until very recently. It's been a fun research project digging up the lesser known history of my family.

It is annoying to purchase something and discover that it does not meet the claims of the manufacturer. *Yes, I realize there are printers that print wider than this, but then they're below what we normally regard as photo quality, so worrying about having 300 ppi to feed them seems pointless. I'm not aware of a photo inkjet that prints wider than 64", or a photo RA-4 / C-print / wet printer that prints wider than 72",* but I guess anyone wanting a panorama longer than a bit under 9 ft is just out of luck, or forced to accept using something less than 300 ppi. Wow, it really must be disappointing to be unable to interpolate an image to larger than 107x80" at 300 ppi. I was able to enlarge a smaller (12MP) image 6x, however. Specifically, when I select any size larger than 2.75x, it only gives chooses 2.75x as the enlargement. However, Gigapixel simply will enlarge the 11,648 x 8,73 pixels images from my GFX 100s more than 2.75x. I was surprised, because Topaz' website says they can be enlarged up to 6x without any loss of quality. I purchased Topaz Gigapixel AI today and it seems that the largest it allows me to enlarge most of my full-size image files is 2.75x. I meant to say that Gigapixel AI simply will not enlarge the 11,648 x 8,736 pixel images from my GFX 100s more than 2.75x. I only use it to uprez my old images that were originally shot at 6MP. Personally I've never used it on images that size though. That's using the latest version downloaded today v5.7.3.

I've not noticed any issues with maximum sizes however I did just download a GFX 100S sample image, and you're correct, I can't get it to enlarge it to enlarge it by more than 2.75x either. In playing with it a little, it seems that it caps the image size to 32,000 x 24,000 pixels, which seems like it kind of defeats the purpose because it is easy to stitch together a panorama bigger than that, and to do so without paying for additional software. I contacted Topaz but as it is the weekend, I suspect I won't hear back until Monday.

While I am still exploring the software, which was just released, I am quite amazed with the things it has to offer. Effects can be downloaded, applied, then customized further to get exactly the look you want. An expanding library of One-Click Effects, perfect for quick edits, or inspiring your creativity, will be available after launch. The program is associated with the launch of new adjustments by Topaz Labs, specific for Topaz Studio, some free, others paid. In fact, I believe many users might be happy with the tools Topaz Studio has to offer. That means no more jumping in and out of Photoshop to apply each specific adjustments. You can stack, add, rearrange, duplicate, delete or hide adjustments all within Topaz Studio. A simple click and the info expands, allowing for further adjustment of each “layer” introduced. The way adjustments are implemented is not only seamless, but completely transparent to you: the panel on the right side shows each “layer”, perfectly named, so you know the adjustment used. There is a whole collection of effects included in Topaz Studio, but as I mentioned, you can use the program as the central hub to access your Topaz Labs plugins. Everything you need is there, but once you start to go deeper into the menus you understand this is more than a simple tool: blurs, vignettes, curves, precision sharpening, duotones, dehaze, bloom, color correction, masks, everything seems to be there, all the way to the special effects you can get from some of the plugins created by Topaz Labs. The interface is easy to grasp, and the tools most needed/used are directly accessible from the panel on the right side. I’ve yet to try it with other software, as Affinity Photo, which already accepts Topaz Labs plugins, but for this first “hand-on” of the program I explored the potential of the standalone options. While the program works standalone, it can also be used as a plugin for those who prefer to work in Photoshop or Lightroom. Then use the improved masking, blending and cropping tools to retouch and reframe your composition.” Add, arrange and combine the power of unique adjustments to perfect your images. Topaz Studio combines, as Topaz Labs states, “the customization of Texture Effects, the editing power of some of your favorite host applications, and the sharing power of the Topaz Community. The now revealed Topaz Studio takes things a few steps further and offers users a complete photo editor that follows many of the conventions now expected to fin on photo editors able to work with your images from the RAW files. Topaz Labs offered previously – and still, offers – its photoFXlab, a standalone application that worked as an interface for all things Topaz. The program, now in beta, is an interesting proposition and one that makes, for me, complete sense. In fact, it is even more than that, as it also becomes the interface for Topaz Labs plugins you may already have. It’s designed for people who want to edit their photos through an easy to use interface, and while it is simple on surface, it is supported by the same technology that fuels Topaz Labs software. It features fundamental tools like cropping rotating and resizing your images and has a built in histogram and scopes to show your hue, saturation, and luminance of your images. Topaz Studio is a brand new standalone editor, more than just a host application. The creators, Topaz Labs, want feedback from users, to help finish a program that offers the fundamental tools and expanded creative horizons.

For instance, Adobe Photoshop has an updated guide manual for using its tools to help you expand your mastery of photo editing. Your editing software should also have some learning resources to guide you through unfamiliar editing functions. You'll also want to choose a picture editor with a customizable interface that lets you rearrange the online editing tools that you're most likely to use, or automatically set preferred brightness, contrast, shadows, and highlights. Consider software with navigation features such as guided search tabs and collapsible editing modules. Also useful are the presets designed in collaboration with professional. Since most programs come with hundreds of photo adjustment features, a good photo editor should have an easy-to-navigate interface. As Aurora is a RAW photo editor, its support for layers and masks is especially useful. These features may include cropping, photostatting, changing the color modes, adjusting the resolution, and much more.
