★ Bollywood’s 100 crore streak in India: Akshay Kumar plus Shah Rukh Khan plus Ajay Devgn is equal to Salman Khan!
May 2, 2023
On Sunday, Salman Khan’s Eid 2023 release, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, entered the Rs. 100 crore club at the box office in India. The film has proved to be the 16th film of Salman Khan to enter the Rs. 100 crore club at the domestic box office, making it the highest ever for an actor in India. What makes this feat even bigger is the fact that Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is the 16th consecutive Rs. 100 crore film for megastar Salman Khan.
Salman’s affair with the Rs. 100 crore club started way back in 2010 with Dabanggand since then it has been no looking back. Dabangg was followed by Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Jai Ho, Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Sultan, Tubelight, Tiger Zinda Hai, Race 3, Bharat, Dabangg 3 and now, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. The historic streak will continue with Tiger 3 on Diwali making it 17 in a row for Salman Khan. A person’s stardom is often judged by what his bad films do at the box office and for Salman Khan, the number starts from Rs. 100 crore, speaking volumes about his unparalleled stardom and reach among the masses. There's a struggle for others to reach Rs. 100 crores with good films and here is Salman, whose rejected films have also done Rs. 100 crores at the domestic box office (though we hope, he doesn't take his stardom for granted and does films with better and able directors)
All his contemporaries have had the streak of 100 crore films broken last decade, but Salman Khan is standing tall like a Tiger and ready to roar with more films in the 100-crore club. With 16 back-to-back 100 crore films already, this record will stay unchallenged for years to come by, or who knows, it may just be one of those rare records to stay unchallenged for the coming few decades. None of the contemporaries from today’s time are even close to hitting 16 back-to-back 100 crore films at this point in time, in fact, everyone except for Salman has their streak of 100 crore films broken. And given the way films are being made in today’s time as also actors taking their time to do 1 film a year, this streak will remain unchallenged for at-least 20 more years, and that too subject to someone from the younger lot showing this level of consistency.
This is god-level domination at the box office by Salman Khan as he is competing with no one but himself. There’s no one even close to Salman in the list of consecutive 100 crore films. The second best on the list of consecutive films in the Rs. 100 crore club is Akshay Kumar, with 6 films in a row – Gold, 2.0, Kesari, Mission Mangal, Housefull 4, and Good Newwz. The streak however stands broken now and he will have to start the count from 0 again. It’s a neck-to-neck battle between Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, who have a streak of delivering 5 back-to-back Rs. 100 crore films – Golmaal Again, Raid, Total Dhamaal, De De Pyaar De, and Tanhaji. However, much like Akshay, even Ajay’s streak is broken and he will have to start it from zero at this point in time to get back and challenge the consecutive 100 crore films. Shah Rukh Khan has 6 consecutive Rs. 100 crore films – Ra One, Don 2, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Chennai Express, Happy New Year and Dilwale. His streak is also broken and he is now standing at with his first Rs. 100 crore film with Pathaan, which is poised to hit 3 by the end of this year. Same for Ranveer Singh who once upon a time delivered 4 back-to-back Rs 100 crore films but now stands at zero.
Aamir Khan has a streak of 4 consecutive Rs. 100 crore films – Dhoom 3, PK, Dangal, and Thugs of Hindostan, which is now broken by Laal Singh Chaddha, followed by Hrithik Roshan, with 3 in a row for Rs. 100 crore films. Which of the aforementioned actors will break Salman Khan’s historic streak? Or will it remain an unchallenged record in the years to come by. Do let us know.

The History of Item Numbers
DISSECT DEEPER #002
From Helen to Malaika, item numbers have always been a thing in Bollywood. To a viewer unfamiliar to Bollywood, an item number is a dance video in a movie usually performed by a female. It has no correlation to the plot or the progression of the movie whatsoever, but they are heavily used by creators of commercial movies. Having item numbers almost always ensured big box office numbers and not to mention increased stardom for the dancer. But is this crazy obsession with item numbers really ok?
Tumblr media
Where It All Began
To understand why item numbers are not ok, we need to understand how it started. The term ‘item number’ has unknown origins but after many speculations, there is consensus that the term originated by (surprise, surprise) men to objectify these women. In the early Bollywood days, the term item number didn’t really seem to exist, but the sexualized dance sequences did. Cuckoo was the first major dancing star of Bollywood and performed in many successful movies like Pardes (1950) and Awaara (1951). She rose to prominence alongside many legends like Madhubala and Meena Kumari for her dancing abilities. Later down the line, Helen came along and featured in a decade-worth of item numbers. These vary from Aa Jaane Ja to Piya Tu Ab Toh Aaja to Mehbooba Mehbooba to Mera Naam Chin Chin Choo. She created a monopoly in this tiny sliver of Bollywood and overshadowed other struggling actors trying to make it big on the silver screen. Nearing the 80′s, the heroine dancing in the sexualized manner was normalized. Possibly the best example of this is Ek Do Teen of Tezaab. This song was an afterthought in the final edit, but this song is what shot Madhuri Dixit to the star and icon she is today. The item numbers soon became highly used and producers started investing more money into these sequences. As the 2000′s rolled along, the item boy made an appearance onto the big screen. Basically, and item boy is the male equivalent to item girl; dancing to a song with double-meanings in revealing clothes. Abhishek Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Hrithik Roshan all have danced an item number at one point in their careers. The 2010′s decade started off with a bang in terms of item numbers with Katrina Kaif’s Sheila Ki Jawani and Malaika Arora’s Munni Badnam Hui. This was followed by other successful item songs like Sunny Leone’s Baby Doll and Nora Fatehi’s Dilbar. But as these successes occurred back-to-back, criticisms towards these songs rose along with it.
Why They Are Problematic
The real problem of item number lies among the audience and creators. Many popular item numbers are created to please the male gaze as the sequences feature women dancing half-naked and enjoying the perverted male gaze. This sets out an incorrect example and feeds onto the already amplified hyper-masculinity of Indian men. They become more entitled and dominant to women. If you thought that wasn’t enough, item numbers hurt the other side of the spectrum too. The female dancers are blatantly objectified and make the female viewers think that that is what is appealing to the boys. This leads them to become more insecure about their looks and dement the views of what society finds beautiful. Another reason as to why item numbers are as common as they are is because of the shared understanding that they are absolutely necessary to rake in the big numbers. Item numbers often boost the star power of the dancer (like Nora Fatehi and Sunny Leone), but it usually isn’t required for a movie to become a super hit nowadays. For example, out of the top 10 highest-grossing Bollywood movies of 2019, only three of them featured item numbers (that being War, Bharat, and Total Dhamaal). This furthermore proves how the current Indian audiences are not just simply attracted by the woman in skimpy clothes dancing on screen, but rather the story, performances, and messages a movie has to present.
Outro
There is no denying the fact that many of these songs are catchy and worth to be played at dance parties. But do we really need sequences where women are overly sexualized and blatantly objectified? No, we really don’t. So hopefully, creators will begin to understand that sometimes, we don’t need a dance song in the movie. Sometimes, we just need y’know... an actually engaging story that will rake in the interest of the viewers.

It seems almost impossible that an on-screen pair can weave the same magic like they did 20 years ago. But Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit-Nene have actually managed to pull that off with ease. The duo, who is seen on TV shows these days promoting their new film 'Total Dhamaal', have made viewers sit up and gape at their striking chemistry, even as they sway to 'Dhak Dhak Karne Laga' and their other hit songs from the 90s. In a fun chat with Bombay Times, the two talk about reuniting on the big screen after almost two decades, how they have maintained their friendship over the years and what’s common between them. Excerpts...
Anil, was it total dhamaal working with Madhuri after 18 years?
Anil: Actually, it’s a little more than that; I think we last faced the camera together 19 years ago. Yes, it was total dhamaal with Indra Kumar (director) being there and the three of us coming together after 'Beta'. It was a lot of fun with the entire star cast. Madhuri has worked before with most of the actors, be it Ajay (Devgn), Arshad (Warsi) or Jaaved (Jaaferi). The whole vibe was very good. It didn’t feel like we were shooting after such a long gap. Also, Madhuri and I have kept in touch over the years.
Madhuri: I remember he had come to Denver. He visited me when my kids were small. We had so much fun shopping...
Anil: Your husband (Dr Sriram Nene) bought me a pair of boots.
Madhuri: Yes, Denver is known for boots — the cowboy kind of boots.
Madhuri, when you learnt that Anil is paired with you in this film, did that make you more comfortable and sure about taking on this project?
Madhuri: Absolutely! When Induji (Indra Kumar) came to me with the script, I loved it. I asked him who would play my husband and he said he would be approaching Anilji. I said it would be great to have all of us in this kind of a mileu.
Anil: I will let out a secret today. Before we signed on the dotted line, Madhuri and I were in touch over this and we kept asking each other, ‘What do you think about this? It’s sounding great’. And then, we both decided that we should do it. Yes, Madhuri and I are coming together after a long time, but this is an ensemble film, where there are 12 people and all have equal roles. That’s the beauty of this film.
Madhuri: We also felt that it would be perfect if the two of us did this film. It would not make sense for anybody else to pair with either of us.
According to you, what’s the one thing that hasn’t changed about the other?
Anil: The most important thing is, she is humane. She has been the same since the time I first met her. From within, she has not changed as a person at all. She looks so beautiful because from the inside, she is calm, happy and relaxed. Her smile has not changed at all, likewise, her dancing remains unchanged after all these years. When I see her dance, I feel the same magic. The only thing that is different now is that she has two beautiful children and a great husband.
Madhuri: I don’t think Anil has changed either. Of course, with everything that’s happening on social media, he has turned quite savvy. I was surprised because he is usually reticent, but now, he is out there and ready to experiment on that level. Otherwise, I can see he has the same drive to work hard and succeed. He has the same energy and manages to get everyone going. We were on a TV show sometime back, where he just took the reins in his hands and said, ‘Come on everyone, let’s make this more enjoyable’. With Anil, what you see is what you get. There are never any layers; he is honest and straightforward. What he says is what he means, always. What he said about me just now is exactly what I would say about him. It’s all about keeping the child within you alive. I feel the same as I did years ago. I can’t believe I have kids who are that big. I look at them and say, ‘Really?’
Anil: God has been kind. When you look at your journey in terms of your personal or professional life, you know that you are blessed. These things make a lot of difference because kabhi kabhi journey mein utaar-chadhaav zyaada ho jate hain and that can take a toll on a person. What’s common between the two of us, I think, is that we have always had our priorities right. Sometimes, you have to make a sacrifice in your professional life if you feel that priority has to be given to your personal life. I would do that. She is also like that. The way she got married, decided to move to the US, it’s remarkable. Around that time, she did 'Pukar' (2000), which was appreciated, then 'Devdas' (2002) — one of the biggest hits. It’s not easy leaving behind all the glamour and the hustle-bustle.
What was it like when you visited her in Denver?
Anil: It was not just a house, it was a home. It was quiet, peaceful and pure. They were leading a beautiful life away from everything. To be honest, I could do it for a week or 10 or 20 days maximum. After that mujhe lagega ki ab Mumbai ka crowd chahiye.
Madhuri: But I was very happy and loved it. I enjoyed that phase of my life.
Anil, when you first heard that Madhuri was getting married and shifting base, how did you react?
Anil: It didn’t come as a surprise to me because it was just a matter of time. I think that she tied the knot at the right time .
Madhuri: I remember when I met him (Dr Nene), I felt, ‘This is it’. Anil and I were promoting Pukar in those days.
Anil: And most questions asked to both of us were about her marriage. Maine kaha thoda Pukar ki bhi baat kar lo yaar.
Madhuri: Yeah, I remember that!
Both of you have acted in 17 films together. What was the rapport like?
Anil: There was mutual respect for each other. At least I respected her. Did you, Madhuri?
Madhuri: (Laughs!) Of course. That was mutual.
Anil: I got along with her parents and had been to their home many times. We have had meals together and also, I specifically remember the poha I had at her place. Madhuri and her family would also visit my home. There was a certain connect between all of us. Ghar mein aana jaana tha.
Madhuri: It’s a friendship that lasted even after I left from here.
Anil: Talking about 17 films, I remember while we were doing those films, we were very competitive as well.
Madhuri: Koi bhi scene mein koi bhi shot chodne ka nahi! I would be like Anilji ne mere se accha kiya, now I have to do this better than him.
Anil: All the directors were in love with her, so I had to put in double the effort. I would try to charm my directors, but that wouldn’t work. They would take more time to light up her close-ups.
Madhuri: That’s the case with any heroine...
Anil: Aapka kucch zyaada tha! On a serious note, Madhuri really helped me with my dancing.
Madhuri: He is being very modest; he has his own style of dancing.
Anil: My dance is very Chembur...
Madhuri: Yes, that charming Chembur flavour (laughs!)
Anil: For me, dance is all about having fun and going with the feel of the music. I would go with the rhythm rather than focus on the choreography.
Madhuri: Some of the dances were sensuous. But the innocence with which Anil did it gave the whole sequence a beautiful effect.
Unlike all those films, which were about love and romance, Total Dhamaal is an out-and-out comedy where both of you play a couple that’s constantly fighting. What kind of prep went into this?
Madhuri: I had to be myself, get my absurdity right. The scenes here are very different because nobody talks like that and you have to make it look convincing. I love these kind of comedies.
Anil: In these kind of films, you have to be spontaneous and instinctive because it’s all about timing. For the first time, I am playing a Gujarati character. So, my prep was to get the dialect right, match up to Madhuri and look as fresh as her.
Madhuri: He would tell me, ‘I’m going to be there in the next schedule, you better come prepared’.
Anil: We play a couple, who has a 14-year-old child. In real life, I have a daughter (Sonam K Ahuja) who is 33. So, I had to work out everyday for this film. The idea was to look convincing.
Madhuri: Luckily, I have a son who’s 13. But I agree that the physicality has to look right.
Anil: Otherwise, people can make fun of you. Trailer mein logon ko pata chal jaata hai.
After this outing, are the two of you looking forward to doing more films together?
Anil: We are both available, writers and directors please make a note. We can come as a package deal!
Madhuri: Two for the price of one...
Anil: No, no aisa nahin hoga and I’m sure you won’t agree, too. Jokes apart, we would love to work together. It’s up to the filmmakers. We would be more than happy even if they are first-time directors, who have something interesting for us.
Madhuri: Yes, anyone who can present us differently.
Is there any film of another on-screen couple that you think the two of you would have done really well?
Anil: All of them!
Madhuri: (Laughs!) I have never really thought of it like that. When I watch a movie, I just watch it like an audience.
Anil: Actually, there are films that Madhuri has done with Salman, Aamir and Shah Rukh, where I think that they were the best choice. Whether it’s 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun' (1994), 'Dil' (1990) or 'Dil To Pagal Hai' (1997); they are irreplaceable. They look so convincing. I can’t imagine myself there.
Madhuri, according to you, which are Anil’s best performances?
Madhuri: There are many. I loved his performances in '1942: A Love Story' (1994), 'Kishen Kanhaiya' (1990) and 'Eeshwar' (1989). Even 'Woh Saat Din' (1983), I couldn’t believe that an actor could perform like that in his first film. Among our films, I would say 'Beta' (1992) and 'Pukar'.
Anil, which ones would you choose from her repertoire?
Anil: She was brilliant in Pukar. There are many, but I was mesmerised by her performance in Hum Aapke Hain Koun as well. That, according to me, made her one of the finest leading ladies on celluloid. That film is for posterity and even after 100 years, you can pull out any close-up and it will be timeless.
Given that yours turned out to be one of the biggest hit pairings on screen in Bollywood, it’s interesting to note that your first film together actually didn’t take off....
Anil: We did one song for the film titled 'Bajrangi', but it didn’t take off. We then did 'Hifazat' (1987), which did average business, though one song, 'Batata Vada', became very popular.
Madhuri: N Chandra was editing the song from 'Bajrangi', and at that time he was also planning to make 'Tezaab' (1988). He saw me in the song and decided to cast me in 'Tezaab'. Sometimes, things happen for the best.
Anil says that this is the best phase of his life in terms of the way he feels and the work he is doing. How would you describe this phase of your life?
Madhuri: I have enjoyed every phase of my life. This is new and there are some good roles out there. I have my family, it’s wonderful to watch my kids growing up and I am enjoying time with my husband.
Is Dr Nene looking forward to watching 'Total Dhamaal'? Has he watched the funny trailer showing Anil and you fighting?
Madhuri: Yes and after watching the trailer, he said, ‘'Thank God, you are not like that in real life.’

How AR Rahman Reacted When 99 Songs Director Cast Pakistani Actors
Tumblr media
At the trailer launch of 99 Songs, AR Rahman and director Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy spoke about how they cast their lead Ehan Bhat.
News18.com
Last Updated: February 21, 2020, 2:41 PM IST
Music maestro AR Rahman is set to make his debut as a film producer and co-writer with musical drama 99 Songs.
At the trailer launch of the film, the Oscar-winning composer and director Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy spoke about how they cast their lead Ehan Bhat. Rahman revealed that Vishwesh had originally found three Pakistani actors for the role but he was apprehensive that casting anyone from the neighbouring country might cause problem for the project.
“We were looking for a hero who could sing, act and who was charming. So, we were scanning everything and our friend (director) goes to Pakistan and he picks up three guys from Pakistan and I said, ‘Why can’t you find any boy in India who can sing?’ He said, ‘No sir, this guy can sing and he plays very well.’ I said what if something happens? This was before all the trouble happened. I said, ‘This is my first movie, don’t make problems for me.’ The exact same thing happened, no? I’m so glad… then we went back to audition again.”
The director, however, clarified that they were primarily looking for musicians to play the lead in the film and it was a pure coincidence that all three original actors were happened to be from Pakistan.
“Usually what happens is even when you go to a store, you first check the quality of the product. Later you see where it’s been manufactured – Made in Indonesia, Made in China, Made in India… What we were looking for was a musician and the ones that seemed to have a Hindi diction and could play instruments just happened to not be from India. But it’s not like we made a decision to only pick actors from Pakistan, they just happened to be from there. But at the end of it, I think Ehan more than made up for all of our initial choices. I have to say that he really grew into his role,” said Vishwesh.
Following the Uri attack in 2016, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association banned all Pakistani actors and technicians from working in India. While several films featuring popular Pakistani celebrities were cancelled, many found themselves amidst huge controversy, especially Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which featured Fawad Khan as part of the primary cast.
Similar sentiments came to the fore after the February 14 attack on a military convoy in J&K. Following the incident, the All Indian Cine Workers Association announced a blanket ban on Pakistani artistes in India. Music label T-Series unlisted songs by Pakistani musicians from its portals, including the Atif Aslam single Baarishein. Actor Ajay Devgn, whose film Total Dhamaal was on pace for release, announced that the comedy would not open in Pakistan. A reverse action of sorts was taken by Pakistan following the abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir.
Meanwhile, 99 Songs also features Edilsy Varghese, Tenzin Dalha, Lisa Ray, Manisha Koirala, drummer Ranjit Barot and Indian Ocean’s Rahul Ram in supporting roles. The film, which had its premiere at the 24th Busan International Film Festival, follows the journey of a man who must learn to balance his love for music and his love for his girlfriend while dealing with his rising fame.

★  Top Overseas Grossers 2019 - Gully Boy And Bharat Lead!
Thursday 20 June
The overseas markets have seen a dull performance in the first half of 2019 with films generally having dissapointing numbers. The films which have really performed in Overseas so far this year are Gully Boy, Uri - The Surgical Strike, Kalank, Total Dhamaal and Badla.
Gully Boy is the top grosser and the only film to cross $10 million with a huge performance in US / Canada where it has done more than 50% of its business. Bharat could join it and might even become the top film but it still will not be a good performance as it will be a lower number than Race 3 which released on Eid last year and did $13.50 million. The film will easily be the top grosser in Gulf this year doing double the business of any other release but still the business in Gulf is not what it should be.
1. Gully Boy - $10,250,000
2. Bharat - $9,500,000 (still running)
………………………………………................
★ Bharat Overseas And Worldwide Update!
Bharat has clocked up around 290 crore at the box worldwide till date and is probably looking at a finish of 300 crore. It should probably go to a 310 crore finish but it a lot depend on the third Friday in India. The business in India is not huge but still is decent enough. The Overseas numbers are not quite there but that was always a likely scenario with a film called Bharat releasing on Eid.
The Pakistani audience which is a big chunk of the Overseas and it becomes even bigger on Eid are never going to come out for a film called Bharat in big numbers and that is what has happened. United Kingdom is going to fall short of £1 million which is poor for Eid.
Gulf will cross $4 million which looks good on paper but is not a good number for Eid even though its easily the best number in Gulf this year and will even finish in the same range as blockbusters like Sanju and Padmaavat in Gulf.
The overseas numbers are $9.5 million till date but it could fall short of the top overseas grosser of the year Gully Boy which did a little over $10 million.
United Kingdom - £850,000
USA / Canada - $2,750,000
Gulf - $3,950,000
Australia - A$825,000
The top four overseas markets have contributed $8.25 million so far. The worldwide figures till date are around 290 crore with India giving 224 crore and Overseas adding 66 crore.

Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma put their best fashion foot forward in the first quarter of 2019
Tumblr media
Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma put their best fashion foot forward in the first quarter of 2019 - The first quarter of 2019 has swiftly gone by, but not before giving us some good entertainment to binge on with popcorn. That's right, it's been a good chunk with blockbusters and hits like Uri, Total Dhamaal, Kesari, Gully Boy and Manikarnika, to name a few favourites. While some impressed us with their acting chops, some left us speechless with their screen presence thanks to the direction, the music, the setting and a lot more. While that is that, one can't unsee all the glitz and glamour that came forth with the barrage of movie promotions and award galas to celebrate top movies. If you haven't guessed it yet, we are here to tip our hat to all the leading ladies of Bollywood who put their best fashion foot forward and made us look twice. Well, to be honest, Ranveer Singh with his eccentric choices and quirk did inch closer than his contemporaries but there were a few trailblazers who won fair and square. Only to emerge as our best-dressed celebrities of the first quarter of 2019. From Alia Bhatt to Anushka Sharma, here's a look at all the stars who outshined others... Anushka Sharma
Tumblr media
While there is still time before we see Anushka recreate her magic on-screen again, the actress has been dropping one lewk after another. Case in point, this Dice Kayek pattern pant-suit in yellow and black that reminds us of Queen Bee! Not to mention the slick and parted low bun, plus the classic black Christian Louboutin pumps that just accentuated her ensemble. WINNER. Alia Bhatt
Tumblr media
Alia Bhatt garnered a lot of praises for her role in Gully Boy and rightly so, but her performance isn't the only thing that stood out. The actress had even nailed her promotional style file with looks, one better than the other. Case in point, this Moschino pantsuit (which she rocked way better than Gigi Hadid BTW) in their signature style. Still shines brightly in our archives. Priyanka Chopra
Tumblr media
Priyanka Chopra was nothing short of a dream in this black lace number by Elie Saab at the Vanity Fair Oscars party. The plunging neckline, the bling by Chopard and her electric self-created fashion moment on the red carpet, made us a fan, forever. Sonam Kapoor
Tumblr media
Make some way for the fashionista! Gotta say, Sonam Kapoor does a mean red carpet. Case in point, when she turned up looking like a rainbow in her Celia Kritharioti evening gown with a plunging neckline. Not to mention the little bling on the ear and whole lotta glimmer on the eyes. What a literal smoke-show it was! Karisma Kapoor
Tumblr media
Staying relevant and how! Hats off to Karisma Kapoor who was a vision in white in this Tony Ward Couture sheer piece with floral detailing. The thigh-high slit and her high bun made it a fine look and one still can't get over the panache with which she carried it. Madhuri Dixit on Kalank: I was extremely emotional to take up Sridevi’s role, I hope I make her proud
Tumblr media
By now, all of us know that after Sridevi’s untimely demise, Madhuri Dixit was roped in Abhishek Varman’s period drama Kalank to replace Sridevi and just like all of Sridevi fans, we too are sure that Madhuri Dixit is going to do full justice to the role. But come to think of it, it must have very emotional for the Dhak Dhak girl while shooting for the film and in an interview to DNA, the Dil Toh Pagal Hai actress confessed to being very emotional while shooting for Kalank. “When I was on the sets, I looked at it as just another role. But, yes, I was extremely emotional when Karan (Johar) asked me to take up her role. I hope I make her proud.”

Just a few days back, it was late actress Sridevi’s first death anniversary and as much as her family and daughters- Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi, miss her, Madhuri Dixit too expressed a sense of grief as she said, "We had known each other for many years and shared a warm equation. It was difficult for everyone in the industry to wrap their heads around her sudden loss. It is still hard to accept the truth. I don’t think anyone of us has still come to terms with her absence. We will always feel the void.” After Madhuri Dixit was roped in to fill in the shoes of Sridevi in Kalank, Janhvi Kapoor took to Instagram and posted a picture of Madhuri Dixit with her mother and thanked Madhuri for taking up Sridevi’s role as she wrote, “Abhishek Varman’s next film was very close to mom’s heart ...Dad, Khushi and I are thankful to Madhuriji for now being a part of this beautiful film.”
Abhishek Varman’s Kalank features Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles and according to reports, Madhuri Dixit will be seen in the role of a dancer in the film and talking about her role, Madhuri said, “When people watch the movie, they will realize how different it is from what I have done in my other films like Devdas where I played Chandramukhi. The role that I have here is poles apart from that.”
Sridevi died on February 24, 2018, by accidentally drowning in the bathtub of a hotel room while she was in Dubai to attend a family wedding. Later, the actress was brought to Mumbai three days and cremated in Mumbai with state honours. On the work front, Madhuri Dixit was last seen in Indra Kumar’s Total Dhamaal co-starring Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, and Esha Gupta.

Judge me, but don't judge my kids: Ajay Devgn
Tumblr media
Much like the children of other Bollywood celebrities, actor Ajay Devgn and Kajols 15-year-old daughter Nysa and 8-year-old son Yug, get a lot of media attention and are often targeted by social media trolls.
In an interview to IANS, Devgn, a protective father, said social media users should not judge his children.
He said: "Judge me, but don't judge my kids. Kajol and I are the actors, judge us...it's because of us, our children are under the spotlight everytime."
"Being judgmental about someone is not a good thing. If I start passing a judgement on someone, that person would obviously feel bad...so do my children," he added.
The "Singham" star, who was in Delhi to promote his fortcoming film "Total Dhamaal", said, "Honestly speaking, those people don't really matter. But I feel bad sometimes when my kids go through such harsh trolling."
The star couple's first child Nysa recently got trolled and body-shamed for her airport look - and this was not the first time she was being targetted.
Asked about how Nysa deals with "such harsh comments", Devgn said: "She used to get upset over trolling earlier, but now she doesn't care about it anymore. She knows how to deal with it. She has accepted that there will be some people who will keep judging no matter what."
On how to tackle trolls, he said, "Avoid it... If you will react, they will react more and this will continue. So better to stop fighting against trollers."

Hi Ashish, hope you're doing good 😊
We haven't interacted before but yes I exist, whenever I go through your social media specially Twitter and the way you interact with your fans makes me admire you so much (not to forget those hot pics on Instagram) ❤❤❤
Tumblr media
I've seen your work, movies, TV, reality TV and I must say you've grown so much over the years. I never saw any indian fictional TV show, but suddenly I was hooked to this show called Ek Mutthi Asmaan, lemme tell you why. So, there was this good looking dude in the show and his name was Raghav Singhania, he made a grand entry in a chopper and I stared at him for a good 1 minute and I felt so happy seeing you back onscreen after a long gap. It was your comeback show, but this time you chose television and you made a great choice cos that character is etched in our hearts and mind forever ❤ I still remember all your scenes, the laptop you used, that black watch and that SMILE. You looked so dapper in those suits and nailed every episode with your performance.
Tumblr media
After EMA you did some good reality shows like KKK and JDJ. You won khatron ke khiladi and owned every task like a boss, but what I loved the most about KKK was that I got to know how you're as a person, you got along with everyone, always so full of love and when you flaunt those abs 😍😍😍
Tumblr media
And currently you're doing a great job in and as Dev, season 1 was 👌👌👌 and season 2 looks 👌👌👌 only you can play that character with such perfection. Dev is a total package and may it bring lots of success and love your way.
Tumblr media
I remember watching humko ishq ne maara as a kid and having a huge crush on you 😂 gosh you looked so cute in that one.
Tumblr media
Boman of Dhamaal and that epic airplane scene with Asrani and obviously the sexiest Barbara, we're gonna cherish this forever ❤❤
❤❤❤
Tumblr media
Your first ever TV show hum pardesi ho gaye 😍

You're an amazing actor and a more amazing human being, not many celebrities care for their fans sentiments.
You really are the best, be proud of yourself. We need more humans like you ❤
You're a wonderful person, son, husband, father, actor. Angel in the form of human 😇
I really adore you to bits, i may not tweet or interact but the love and respect is always there. I wish the world for you cos you deserve it.
