‘Global Football Week’ series will see three English sides play exclusively in Melbourne
Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Arsenal Women FC will headline a series of international football club matches at the MCG and Marvel Stadium in May.
And Newcastle will take on an A-League All Stars team at Marvel Stadium on May 24, before an Arsenal squad including three Matildas becomes the first Women’s Super League outfit to play on Australian soil.
The three-game “Global Football Week – Melbourne” series will see all three English sides and the A-League All Stars play exclusively in Melbourne.
Arsenal, featuring Melbourne born and raised Matildas captain Steph Catley, will face an A League Women’s All Stars squad that will play for the first time.
Girlpower will be given top billing in the Marvel Stadium double header, with the women’s match played after the men’s.
Arsenal’s squad also includes Matildas stars Caitlin Foord and Kyra Cooney-Cross.
And the Gunners boast England captain Leah Williamson, Irish skipper Katie McCabe and forwards Alessia Russo and Beth Mead.
Big crowds are expected at all three matches. Fans will also be able to attend open training sessions to see star players up close.
It comes after more than 54,000 fans filled Marvel Stadium for a Matildas match against Uzbekistan last month.
Tickets, from $59, will go on sale via Ticketek at 12pm on March 28.
A waitlist at www.TEGSport.com.au will give access to a pre-sale on March 27.

Match Review: Manchester United Women 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur Women
In what was dubbed a dress rehearsal for the Women's FA Cup Final on May 12th, United and Spurs managed to share the spoils - for now - but there were positive signs for United if they can sharpen up on goal.
Tumblr media
Stats are a lovely tool to have, adding flavour to any match report and game analysis, and the stats - as shown below - point out two things: United were the side in control, and United should have won the game.
Tumblr media
United's backline were instantly put under pressure in the first 30 seconds but United woke up and got a good footing in the game. Ella Toone came accidentally close in the 9th minute, trying to find Leah Galton at back post, but it was Melvine Malard who opened the scoring with a beautiful header off a millimetre perfect free kick from deep by Gemma Evans; lofted with the utmost precision for Malard to nod over the approaching Spurs keeper Becky Spencer.
Tottenham countered quickly with Naz and Vinberg - a sign of things to come - but were held off, and as quickly as they hit United, United hit back. Pressure onto Neville saw Naalsund pick up a loose ball outside the box, quick pass to Malard, pivot, shot, and then in the scramble between Spencer, Parris and Nilden, a free kick was given against United.
Poor positioning cost United for the equaliser, with a deep Spurs cross cleared out only as far as Spence. A scuffed volley bobbled the ball through to Beth England for an easy tap home past an aghast Mary Earps, but it was Maya Le Tissier - fresh from her contract signing - that stood out of sync with the rest of the defence and failed to play the offside trap. Frustrating.
Tumblr media
United's second goal conceded was in similarly silly circumstances; Mary Earps screaming at Aoife Mannion to chase the loose ball, Mannion presuming Mearps has it, and Tottenham's Vinberg strolling in to play the ball into the box. Le Tissier covered well, with Mannion filling her void in CB momentarily, but wizardry from striker Jess Naz spun captain Katie Zelem and fizzed in a shot straight above Mary Earps' head. Poor from the keeper, poor from Zel, and poor from nearby Tooney who could have easily pressured Naz from that close range with a sprint to jostle. Maybe she was worried about giving away a penalty, but someone should have closed Naz down and forced her to choose the wider path towards a waiting Gemma Evans or to back off outside the box. A communication issue no doubt, given no Jayde Riviere or Hannah Blundell starting.
Blundell on for Mannion at half time made sense, and the second half saw more intensity and aggression from United; with far more crossing to pressure the Spurs defence in the air now that Blundell was on. 55th minute subs introduced both Lucia Garcia for Nikita Parris and Rach Williams for Melvine Malard, but the United couldn't quite find the net. Further subs in the 76th saw Miyazawa on for Toone and Geyse on for Galton, but it took a Gemma Evans corner in the 91st minute to find Rach Williams, the bar, bounce back out, and be crashed into by Maya Le Tissier to even the game up and give United a very much deserved point at Leigh Sports Village.
There will be frustration at United's failure to convert the oh-so-many chances in the second half, but the turnaround in United's style was a good sight to see, and on another day (say, the FA Cup final?) maybe several goals went in and this was a comfortable win rather than a consolation point. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- The disappointment doesn't end there though. Fans will also be concerned at the potential departure of United's tenacious Spaniard Lucia Garcia, whose contract is close to expiring and - based on Instagram - might not be renewed/extended.
Tumblr media
And how we will miss her humour, as well as that unquestionable hard work on the field, if she does leave us. Another huge mistake from Manchester United Football Club if so.
Tumblr media
Only three games remain in the WSL; Leicester away, Liverpool away, and Chelsea at Old Trafford - before which comes the FA Cup Final at Wembley. It's going to be a difficult few weeks, but the hottest fires produce the strongest steel...

Matchday! Manchester United visit Tottenham Hotspur on this afternoon (17:30 BST), for our first away fixture of the Premier League season.
Erik ten Hag's side got off the mark with three points on Monday, beating Wolves 1-0 thanks to Raphael Varane's header.
We have a good record at Spurs' new stadium, having won twice and drawn twice in our four visits, and we will be looking to keep that run going in north London.
Ange Postecoglou and his men will provide tough opposition though, as they embark upon a new chapter without talismanic striker Harry Kane.
United’s display on Monday evening caused much debate, and the squad will have to significantly improve their performance to beat Spurs.
Come on United!

Premier League: Bowen, Zouma Combine To Secure Point Against Tottenham
Tumblr media
West Ham United: Jarrod Bowen’s sensational season continued as his assist for Kurt Zouma helped West Ham United secure a 1-1 Premier League draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday evening at London Stadium. With a draw, Tottenham missed the chance to move level with Aston Villa in the top-four race. Spurs remain fifth with 57 points. West Ham, who are winless in their last four matches, stay seventh on 45 points. Brennan Johnson fired Spurs in front on five minutes, but Zouma’s equaliser soon after ultimately proved enough to earn the Hammers a point. Pedro Porro and Son Heung-min went close to doubling Spurs’ lead, but the visitors were pegged back in the 19th minute as Jarrod Bowen’s corner went in off Zouma's back as he attempted a header, Premier League reports. West Ham began the second half strongly as they looked to complete the turnaround, with Guglielmo Vicario producing reflex saves to deny Michail Antonio and Konstantinos Mavropanos. Michail Antonio then squandered a marvellous opportunity on the hour. Having outmuscled Micky van de Ven to latch onto a long ball, the Jamaica international fired straight at Vicario. Lukasz Fabianski was grateful to see Destiny Udogie’s strike in the fourth minute of stoppage time sail into his grasp in an end-to-end finale, as both sides had to settle for a point. One Shot for 88 Minutes
Playing 88 minutes, he only had one shot. Admittedly, Tottenham Hotspur took the lead in the game but failed to capitalize on Son, who was at the forefront of the game, and Son struggled. The rating recognized Son's struggles.
Tottenham faced a come-from-behind defeat of 1-2 at a home game against West Ham in round 15 of the 2023-2024 English Premier League (EPL) held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, the U.K., at 5:15 a.m. on the 8th (Korea time). Son started the game and played until the 43rd minute of the second half, but failed to score an offensive point.
In the 11th minute of the first half, Pedro Pororo's right-footed kick from Tottenham's right corner flew in from the gate and scored a header to take a 1-0 lead.
After finishing the first half with a 1-0 lead, Tottenham faced off at the counterattack by West Ham in the seventh minute of the second half when Mohamed Kudus' left-footed mid-range shot hit the Tottenham defense and fell in front of Jerod Bowen's foot, who was rushing to the gate. At a no-mark opportunity, Bowen didn't miss this opportunity and fired with his right foot, and goalkeeper Guillermo Gugliemo, who was caught in a dynamic play, failed to block and tied the game 1-1. Unfortunate loss. 토토사이트 추천
In the 29th minute of the second half, Tottenham allowed a come-from-behind goal due to a fatal defensive error. Destiny Udogi's back pass to the goalkeeper turned into a complete pass miss, and goalkeeper Gugliemo Vicario came out to blow his body and blocked it first, but West Ham's James Ward-Frouse ran and kicked the ball back into the empty net after the shot, allowing a 1-2 turnaround.
After the match, footmob, which deals with soccer statistics, gave Son a 7.3 rating. It was the fourth-highest rating in his team, following Romero, Pororo, and Brennan Johnson. The sofa score was 7.8, which was also the fourth-highest rating in his team.
Considering that Son Heung-min was only one shot even though he was a front-line striker, Son Heung-min's contribution to the attack in addition to shooting was high.
Even though they lost, Tottenham led the game itself, and Romero and POW were also at the top of the rating.

Wolves thump Chelsea 4-2 with Cunha hat-trick
LONDON, Feb 4 (Reuters) - A hat-trick from Wolverhampton Wanderers' Matheus Cunha again exposed Chelsea's defensive frailties with the visitors coming from behind to record a 4-2 win at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Tumblr media
It was the second time in a week the big-spending London side had shipped four goals after losing 4-1 to Liverpool on Wednesday and the defeat piled pressure on coach Mauricio Pochettino. Chelsea, who looked bright at the start, went ahead in the 20th minute through Cole Palmer, whose neatly-taken goal was his 10th for his new side in the Premier League. But two minutes later Joao Gomes found Brazilian compatriot Cunha whose shot took a big deflection off Chelsea defender Thiago Silva. Wolves' second just before halftime came from a shot by Rayan Ait-Nouri, which hit Axel Disasi and was given as an own-goal with Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic wrongfooted. Chelsea pushed forward but looked disorganised at the back. At the age of 39, Silva's lack of pace is showing and his young defensive team mates looked short of experience and cohesion. Cunha made it 3-1 midway through the second half, after Pedro Neto caught Chelsea on the break, and scored his third from the spot in the 82nd after being brought down by defender Malo Gusto. Brazilian Silva scored a consolation header with four minutes of normal time remaining but by then many home supporters were already leaving the stadium. The defeat piles pressure on coach Mauricio Pochettino with Chelsea dropping to 11th in the table and Wolves leap-frogging them to 10th. He said the players were lacking in confidence and performances were not good enough. "We feel the pressure and the stress to win, to play well to perform. We didn’t have time to feel confident," the Argentine said. "I think we are all not good enough. At the moment this is the reality. Myself, also. What we are showing today is we are not good enough. We didn't manage the situation properly." The former Tottenham Hotspur coach added that expectations were high and the players felt those expectations. "At the moment, we are not matching the history of the club… that is true. We need to accept and be critical. We will not give up." Several voices in the crowd started singing the name of former coach Jose Mourinho, recently sacked by AS Roma, who led Chelsea to three Premier League titles during his tenure. It was Wolves' first win at Stamford Bridge since 1979 and the first top-flight double over Chelsea since 1975. They beat Chelsea 2-1 at home on Dec. 24.

League season is back……………
Premier League - Matchweek 17
A warm welcome to all football fans around the world, the world cup has just finished and we have a new world cup winner. World cup managed to unite the fans to support their respective nations. Now that the world cup is over, fans will return to their respective domestic leagues to support their domestic teams. we will be covering in detail analysis of the Premier League and score updates from other leagues like La Liga, League 1, Bundesliga and Indian super league.
The premier league started with an excellent match between Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur. Brentford took lead early in the match to start the dominance at home, but the controversial decision went in favour of Brentford and Kane didn't get the penalty. but Kane redeemed himself with a wonderful header to the far corner and Hojbjerg equalizes with 2nd goal. A good match to start the league.
Crystal Palace vs Fulham match saw 2 red cards to the home team and Fulham is continuing the good form they have shown in the premier league. Mitrovic is having good times in the forward line and has started the post-break league with a goal.
Everton started the campaign on a losing note Podence scored after a long time. Yari Mina gave Everton the lead but they couldn't hold on to it. Ait Nouri helped the wolves to close out the game on the winning side in 90+5 minutes.
Newcastle United is continuing the dream run with the deadly combo of Almiron scoring the goal and Trippier providing yet another assist. Newcastle took an early lead of 3 goals in the first half and continued on to it to finish the game with a clean sheet.
Southampton looked rusty to start the game and Brighton took advantage of that to score 2 goals, while Southampton gave 1 goal to Brighton in the form of an own goal. to add to the misery of Southampton their most reliable player ward-prawse missed a penalty. it was a complete disaster match for Southampton.
Aston Villa vs Liverpool match did have all the flavours of a great PL match but unfortunately, Aston Villa lacked the finishing touches and missed a few good chances. On the other hand, Liverpool looked like a team in good shape, Nunez missed a few chances but overall Liverpool looked better team between the two.
The last game of the night did end up as expected. West ham took lead with an early penalty but Arsenal showed why they are on top of the table by scoring 3 goals in quick succession in the second half to finish the game and strengthen the top spot on the table.
