#Transformers #StudioSeries #Leaderclass #Decepticon #Blackout, pt. 2: Helicopter mode! As predicted, this thing was a real bear to transform. Forty-six steps! Lots of panels and tabs—I definitely put plastic stress on the left shoulder assembly in transforming it; it was latched on like a mother. Comparisons to the 2009 Revenge of the Fallen Leader Class Optimus Prime, an infamously tricky transformation, are well founded, but I was reminded more of 2010's Hunt for the Decepticons Starscream (Bay-movie-design Leader Class). Like that Scream, this Blackout's transformation centers around a single thin strut—and when that puppy breaks, game over (swipe to see). I'll probably transform him back to robot mode and then leave him there permanent-like. He is a big, handsome helicopter toy, though, and the little #Scorponok he comes with is neat. #Transformers #StudioSeries #Leaderclass #Blackout, a new toy of the evil helicopter from the first (2007) Michael Bay Transformers movie. I stopped watching those movies after the third one, but I still have my collection of toys from the first two, and Blackout's one of the few characters of whom I never got a reasonably scale-accurate toy. He's on the small side for a Leader-class, but he's sure bulky (looks like a bear to transform, too--I haven't even tried yet). I really dig the thing where he comes with his own little diorama backdrop... and y'know, for all that those movies were confusing messes on a story level, I always have had a shameful affection for the robot designs 😅 He's holding the Target gift card that covered 3/5 of his purchase price, because these pics are going as a "thank-you note" to my brother who gave me the gift card for my birthday last month.
