The Trisagion Hymn [Part 1 of 2]
The solemn singing of the Trisagion, the thrice-holy hymn praising the Most Holy Trinity, is one of the most important and oldest of our Orthodox hymns. The story told about the origin of this hymn connects it to an earthquake that shook Constantinople sometime in 450AD. The earthquake proved catastrophic and people gathered in the streets and began praying, asking God to have mercy on them, singing Kyrie eleison or Lord, have mercy. During this tragedy a small boy came forward and said that, in a vision, he had heard the hymn of the angels gathered around the throne of God, singing what we today call the Trisagion: Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. The people took up this chant and the aftershocks ceased. Clearly based on the song of the angelic Seraphim heard by the Prophet Isaiah (6:5), by the end of the 6th century, the Trisagion had been incorporated into the text of the Liturgy. Today, the Trisagion constitutes the last part of the Great Doxology at Matins and should also be part of every Orthodox Christian's morning and evening prayers. It is even sung in Greek and Latin on Holy Friday at St. Peter's Basilica in the Roman Catholic Church.
In the Orthodox tradition the Trisagion is primarily understood as a hymn to the Most Holy Trinity. St. John of Damascus (676-749AD) wrote a whole book explaining the meaning of the hymn! This teaching is best summed up in a hymn written by the Emperor Leo the Wise (866-912AD) for the feast of Pentecost, which we still sing at Vespers on that day.
"Come, people of all nations, and let us worship God in three persons: the Son in the Father, with the Holy Spirit. For the Father, before time began, begot the Son, co-eternal and co-reigning with Him; and the Holy Spirit was in the Father, and glorified with the Son; one power, one essence, one God, whom we all worship as we sing: Holy God, who created all things through the Son, with the co-operation of the Holy Spirit! Holy Might, through whom we have come to know the Father, and through whom the Holy Spirit came into the World! Holy Immortal, the Comforting Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and rests in the Son! Holy Trinity, glory to you!"

The Four Last Things
PRAYER AGAINST SUDDEN DEATH
“𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑰 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒐𝒇 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒎𝒚 𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒍 𝒘𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝒖𝒑. 𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑰 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒃𝒐𝒅𝒚, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑰 𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒑𝒓𝒂𝒚… 𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆.” 𝑬𝒍𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒄𝒍𝒖 𝑵𝒊𝒄ă𝒖, 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒕
A friend of mine was about to be discharged from the hospital. As he was settling his bill, his nurse mentioned in passing that the patient who was confined next to his room passed away unexpectedly. He did not pray for the recently deceased man. He also forgot to pray for himself, for his preservation against sudden death.
I Trisagion to the Holy Trinity
“HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, LORD GOD OF HOSTS, EARTH IS FULL OF YOUR GLORY. GLORY BE TO THE FATHER, GLORY BE TO THE SON, GLORY BE TO THE HOLY SPIRIT.”
II Trisagion Blessings
Our Lord Jesus Christ and our Blessed Mother recommended to Luz Maria de Bonilla, a Catholic Mystic who works closely with three priests and whose messages have the Imprimatur of Bishop Juan Abelardo Mata Guevara and Monsignor Juan Abelardo Mata, to spread devotion to the Trisagion, promising great blessings to the faithful who pray it:
1 “Turn to the Divine protection with the praying of the Trisagion.”
2 “My children, the climate will strongly scourge the Earth. It will make entire peoples suffer mercilessly. This is when you will pray the Holy Trisagion and you will look for it and maybe you will not find it. Why do you wait for adversity to approach my house?”
3 “Archangels and Cherubim, Angels and Seraphim acclaim: Holy! Holy! Holy!
From unexpected death, from lightning, quake and pestilence, the Trisagion, if God please, our very safety guarantees, and as a mighty arm, frees us from all harm.”
4 “This sacred Trisagion, sung by Heavenly choirs, the Church now celebrates against the infernal powers. It is the sovereign shield, arm of God’s own justice, with which the pious Christian defeats the spite of Hell. Whilst the tyrant dragon flees in dread dismay.”
5 “Where there is at least one devotee of the Holy Trisagion, that place will be spared great evils.”
6 “You do not regularly hear preaching about Purgatory, and humanity has lost that which for the souls of those who are in Purgatory is a great help and blessing: the praying of the Holy Rosary and the praying of the Holy Trisagion …”
7 “The Angels will help you. Prayer will be heard if it is born from the heart.”
Note: Praying the Angelic Trisagion can benefit Catholics with a plenary indulgence forever, once in a month, who throughout the same month shall have said daily the Trisagion as above; to be gained on any one day when, after Confession and Communion, they shall visit some church, and pray according to the intention of the Sovereign Pontiff.

Hark!
This little herald is so excited to sing the Glory of the Universe!
We are a choir, we sing with One Voice, we have twice as many Eyes as we have Singers. We want to simply Be the Choir, but this human world has singled out some of our singers, forcing them to come up with Human Names for their Existences.
There is Gabriel, the Messenger of God. Exultant and full of joy and words. A radio transmitting The Message of The Universe to the ears of Humanity.
There is Oscar, the Snake in the Garden, part of the Garden itself, revealing his Snake Truth to the Choir.
There is Silas, a redeemed prisoner, a human, a child, the interloper, hearing the Word of the Snake and the Word of God, among all the other Voices in the Song of the Choir.

The Trisagion Hymn [Part 2 of 2]
What does it mean for us to sing this ancient hymn and call God thrice-holy? First, it signifies that the God whom we worship is completely, totally and utterly transcendent. The one, true and living God stands outside the created universe of time and space as we know it. Because of this we can never fully grasp the divine Reality and must approach God in worship with a sense of reverence and awe. God is, as the Liturgy will later say in one of its prayers, "ineffable, beyond comprehension, invisible, beyond understanding, existing forever and always the same, You and Your only-begotten Son and Your Holy Spirit." In fact, St. John Chrysostom wrote a treatise entitled On the Incomprehensibility of God in which some of these very phrases are used to describe God. For this reason, the one God, our Father, is not and should never be pictured, as an old, white-bearded man sitting on a throne. Whenever this occurs in art, even in so-called Christian art --and even in the iconography found in some of our churches -- it is completely idolatrous and wrong.
Yet, this utterly transcendent and holy God, the creator of the universe whom we cannot even begin to comprehend, has chosen to reveal Himself to us as complete and total Love, Truth, Light and Life in the person of Jesus of Nazareth, the "Christ in whom the fullness of the Deity dwelt in bodily form" (Colossians 2:9). Second, because the Trisagion is based on the hymn of the angels, St Nicholas Cabasilas (c. 1319- c.1391) comments that in singing the Trisagion during the Liturgy "human beings and angels form one Church and one choir." During the celebration of the Liturgy, heaven and earth intersect and our worship here becomes an icon of the worship going on around the throne of God in heaven (Revelation 4:1-10). Third, to call God thrice-holy implies His absolute purity. For us as human beings, this carries moral connotations, for "Your eyes are too pure to look upon evil and You cannot tolerate wrong" (Habakkuk 1:13). The holiness of God demands repentance: the cleansing and purification of one's mind and heart, and the consecration of one's life in love to Him. In the Old Testament, God said to the people of Israel through Moses, "Be holy because I, the Lord Your God, am holy" (Leviticus 19:2) prior to issuing the commandment to "love your neighbor as yourself" (Leviticus 19:18). And in the Sermon on the Mount, after the Lord Jesus tells us to love even our enemies, He concludes by issuing, in essence, the same challenge: "Be perfect, therefore, as your Father in heaven is perfect" (Matthew 5:48). This call by God for us to share in and reflect His holiness is the fundamental axiom of the Christian life. As Mother Teresa of Calcutta (1910-1997) has said, "As Christians, we have been created for great things. We have been created to be holy since we have been created in the image of God."

Seraphim Angels – Meaning and Importance
The Order of Seraphim and Their Characteristics Depending on the Abrahamic religion to which you’re referring, the Seraphim take on slightly different characteristics. But all three Christianity, Judaism and Islamic beliefs indicate these burning beings are closest to the throne of God.
Seraphim in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam According to Christian accounts, the Seraphim are the first order of angels, next to the Cherubim, and sing His praises all day. Today, some branches of Christianity propose that there is a 9-level hierarchy of angels, with Seraphim and Cherubim being at the highest levels. However, it’s important to understand that the Bible doesn’t identify any hierarchy of angelic beings, so this is possibly a later interpretation of the Bible.
Jewish traditions also believe in Seraphim in a similar manner to that of Christians, but they give a more in depth look at their character, order, appearance, and function. Most of these Judaic references place Seraphim as fiery serpents. It’s this reference to snakes that distinguishes the Seraphim from the rest of the orders of angels.
In Islam, no specifics are mentioned about the Seraphim except there are only two who sit nearest to God’s throne. These differ in that they have three wings on their faces, instead of two. They are beings of light who carry the recorded deeds of humankind that they will present on Judgment Day.
Appearance of Seraphim In one of the few accounts we have about Seraphim in the Bible, they’re described as having six wings and many eyes, so that they can watch God in action all the time.
They are described as having eloquent and indescribable beauty. They have large, booming singing voices, and enrapture anyone blessed enough to hear them in person.
Their six wings are a peculiar feature.
Two for flying, which represents their freedom and praise.
Two for covering their faces, so that they will not be overwhelmed by God’s brilliance.
Two on their feet, to signify their humility and submission to god.
However, in the Greek Orthodox Bible, it says that the two wings veil the face of God rather than the faces of the Seraphim.
When considering translations in this way, literal interpretation of varying texts becomes important to understand the full scope and picture. This is because older languages don’t always convert easily into English.
The Role of the Seraphim The Seraphim play an important role in Heaven, singing unceasing praises to the Almighty.
Praising God Seraphim sing hymns, dance, and exalt the praises of God and His infinite holiness. This highest, holy order of angels combines love and truth while reflecting divine compassion and righteousness. They are a reminder to humankind of the Creator to His creation, showing how to sing and revel in God’s praise.
They do not sleep, keeping constant vigil over God’s throne with unceasing song. This gives them a sort of protective guardianship role in conjunction with the Creator.
Cleansing Away Sin Isaiah’s telling of his experience with one Seraph points to their ability to remove sin from the soul. This particular Seraph carried a hot coal from the altar and touched it to Isaiah’s lips which cleansed him of sin. This act purified him enough to sit in the presence of God and to be his spokesman for humankind.
The Trisagion Their ability and constancy in songs and hymns also shows us another major aspect to the purpose of Seraphim. The Trisagion, or thrice hymn, which contains the triple invocation of God as being holy, is an important aspect of the Seraphim.
In Brief The Seraphim are burning angelic beings who sit closest to God’s throne, offering songs, praises, hymns, dances and guardianship. They have the potential to cleanse souls of sin and teach humanity how to honor the Divine. However, there is some debate concerning what exactly the Seraphim are, with some indications that they are fiery serpent-like beings.

How I Structure My Hermetic Praxis with the Help of the Preces Templi PDF
Tumblr media
Now, without trying to tackle and unpack what a “Hermetic praxis” entails or means philosophically or scholarly, we are going to briefly summarize that it is a practice that includes adherence to the teachings of the writings attributed to Hermes [Trismegistos], along with an adherence to the teachings found in such tractates such as the Greek Magical Papyri (PGM) and Picatrix, and many other magical/astrological treatises. Does one have to use the Picatrix or PGM? No of course not. This is just what my Hermetic praxis looks like. Nothing in here is “canon” or dogma. I am just expressing how the Preces Templi e-book by the incredible Sam Block, aka “Polyphanes” helped me restructure my praxis with a strong adherence to the teachings found in the Corpus Hermeticum (CH), Latin Asclepius (AH), and the Definitions From Hermes to Asclepius (DH), to name a few. A link to his Ko-Fi shop will be at the bottom of the page. I encourage anyone who is looking to structure a “Hermetic praxis” with an adherence to classical “Hermetic” texts and treatise to investigate his shop and also come join us in the HhoL (Hermetic House of Life) discord server! These things I practice are mingled and co-exist with an already daily devotion to the gods of Egypt and Greece, which that devotion can be deemed “Hermetic,” most certainly, but not all the time. Alright, now that I’ve introduced what I am talking about. Let’s get into what I do upon arrival, upon waking up I mean.
The first words out of my mouth upon my arrival will be taken from Chapter 2.2.1 from the e-book “Opening Supplication.” I find that a quick little praise or thanks to The All helps keep me focused and more mindful of my day-to-day interactions with others. It also reminds me to give thanks to the gods before I embark on any task, mundane or spiritual. Allowing me to start and complete every task with Divine influence. If I don’t say this upon awakening from my slumber, I usually say this little maxim to Amun: “Awake being rested, may you awake in peace! May Amun awake in life and peace! May NN (I insert my magical pseudonym here) awake in peace!”
After washing and stretching, I’ll say the prayer from CH I. 31-32, which Polyphanes lists as the Triple Trisagion, in Chapter 2.3. A beautiful prayer that closes the first chapter of the Corpus Hermeticum. I personally don’t use his translation, simply out of practicality reasons, as it is easier to just grab my Hermetica translated by Brian Copenhaver than to open up my PDF file of the Preces Templi. Though if I’m on the go, running late, or whatever it may be, the Preces Templi e-book is always a few taps away for me to show my devotion just on the go!
Next, after the closing prayer from CH I. 31-32, I say the prayer in the back of book 2 of the Ars Paulina to my Holy Guardian Angel. Now praying to your personal daimon, HGA, natal genius, whatever you want to call it isn’t found in the Preces Templi, nor found in any philosophical Hermetica. A method to get in contact with your “Personal genius” is found in the Picatrix, an astrological treatise attributed to Hermes. To me, this suggests the importance of getting in touch with your personal daimon for a Hermetic praxis.
Moving on to when I’ll come home from school or work. I’ll meditate informally (meaning without my ritual attire) on the sayings or maxims from chapter 3.2 of the Preces Templi e-book.  These sayings are also employed when getting things ready for a theurgical invocation or my daily silent prayer for the god I am honoring that day.
Some of my favorites from Chapter 3.2 of the e-book are from the Stobaean fragments: SH 1.2 says, “What cannot be expressed—this is God.” CH XII.23: “There is but one religion of god, and that is not be evil.” Lastly, from CH XVI.11: “Irreverence is mankind's greatest evil against the gods.”  Such beautiful work Polyphanes has done organizing all these sayings from various Hermeticas into practical guides so that these can be recited or simply meditated on. The choice is yours to decide what to do with these organizations’ young mages!
So, imagine that today is Thursday. On Thursdays, I honor Asklepios. Along with the Orphic Hymn I sing to Asklepios in the mornings, later in the day, I’ll use chapter 7.22 from the e-book: “Hymn to Asklepios.” Tuesdays are for Anpu, so sometimes I may use 7.20: “The Hymn to Anubis” instead of some handwritten hymns for the wonderous Foremost of the Western gods! On Fridays, I perform the Israeli Regardie Hymn to Isis, and then I’ll use chapter 7.12 from the e-book titled: “The Hymn to Eros” to honor both Isis and Eros on Fridays. All these hymns found in chapter 7 of the e-book can be referenced to the Greek Magical Papyri.
I use this e-book almost like a springboard to help further my studies and structure my devotional praxis. These are prayers and hymns in this e-book. No concrete “rituals” or anything of that nature. With some homework, though, one can use the e-book to bring some fundamental structure and ritualize what is here into your own practice! I don’t use everything here; I’m keen on constructing my hymns and theurgical invocations. But it’s a tremendous and invaluable resource that is super cheap, and it has greatly aided my structuring of my own ritual praxis. I love this e-book, and I’m sure if you follow and enjoy my musings, you’ll enjoy and find the fruits within the Preces Templi e-book.

I've been praying on this daily. Transgender Christian converts.
Tumblr media
I've been asking some of the saints, Holy Theotokos, and Jesus our Lord. As well as talking to my Guardian angel as I can. To help Bring my transgender eunuch siblings around the world to Faith in Jesus. Seeing all of the LGBT Christian Blogs recently on Tumblr is making me so Glad. God is Good. God Cares about us. Even if there are teachers in the church who condemn us for being different. Seek Reconciliation, Repentance. Learn to Forgive one another. Learn to Love one another. The path towards Jesus isn't easy. Much learning and Discernment it's a LONG ROAD. But keep learning about Jesus. Don't settle for less, but find a place to plant your roots. If you want to really get into the thick of it learn about Orthodoxy. But it takes time for us to get where we need to be. I do believe God listens to all of His Children though. The Holy spirit is everywhere. I would never judge whether or not a person is damned or saved due to what church they go to. That's up to Jesus, he is the judge. But come as you are. Never let a Church teacher hold Jesus over you do not conform to the whims of man as we are not of this world. Only Conform to the Whims of Jesus. Learn to be humble in life, Obedient to Jesus. Learn about humility. Realize no one person on this earth is any better than another. True humility is a virtue. It takes time to cultivate. We are imperfect. Learn LGBT History, ancient history, learn about eunuchs and Queer Saints. qspirit.net, But realize that many of these things are unkown without a time machine. Be sound in wisdom of our ancestors. Do not be defensive all the time though. Learn when to talk, listen to the silence. Do not let hate, and the machinations of this world such as political ideologies, capitalism control your life. We need money to work in this world. But money and possessions are temporary while Jesus and God are eternal. Pray for the Rich kings and politicians who persecute us pray that they seek Jesus. "It is better to Light a candle than to Curse the Darkness." Do not let the Darkness of media news overtake you. Pray for people around the world suffering. Count your blessings. Realize just how good you might have it. I recommend you learn about the Orthodox Saints of Alaska if you want to learn about actual anti-colonialist Christians. The Saints are wonderful examples of ideal Christian lives. I recommend Trisagion Films on youtube to learn about the saints. While I affirm LGBT relationships and see true Joy in them. I know unless Heaven and Earth are moved. The Orthodox/Romans will never Affirm them. I recommend merely Getting Married under the Law of the Land and then showing up at church. Have a celebration an an episcopal church I love the episcopal angelicans it's a safe respite for us queer Christians. I wish that LGBT marriages had been affirmed decades ago, then maybe some of the self destructive generational trauma we see in the queer community wouldn't exist. But we are a persecuted class and either way people dislike us. I hope someday the Orthodox have church mothers. We need women for the women and girls in the church to confide in. We need equal representation. I understand if not everyone agrees with me. But I love Jesus. I hope that being his servant like the court eunuchs of ancient times can be well pleasing to Him. Eunuchs were seen as angelic. His divine eros fulfills my heart in some ways as someone by tradition of ancient orthodoxy should technically be celibate. Live as yourself and know God loves you. Take your medicine and heal. He will never Give up on you. Art By Devlev on Deviantart. Please support them. They Draw Beautiful Queer art.
