We Should Have Never Come Back (Youngest Runaways AU)

It has been a couple years since Floyd took baby Branch and made his small hideout their new home (at least until the tunnels to escape are completed).

It has also been a year or two since the pair one day stumbled upon King Peppy's pod and sort of became babysitters to baby Princess Poppy, much to the interest of Princess Viva. The older siblings smiled as they saw Branch and Poppy quickly becoming close.

It gave the pair something to do and it helped provide some clothing. Viva also took the time to begin teaching Floyd how to sew, something that he eventually took upon himself to practice on his spare time even after the escape.

The pair also went gray since leaving home, but that's just what anxiety and second-guessing yourself can do.

One day, Floyd, against his better judgement, decided to visit the old pod. His mind was gnawing at him to at least visit his brothers now that Branch was older. Ever since the stunt he pulled in leaving two years ago, that seemingly snapped the other brothers to the reality of the situation they caused and grounded them into staying. BroZone did have to get put into hiatus after that, though.

Putting the grass-shaped scarves over his baby brother's face and his own, the pair left the small bunker and began to make their way towards the pod (after Floyd works up the courage to face the rest of his family that is).

Looking up from the hideout entrance, he spotted the three older brothers on the tree branch in front of their old pod, singing On Top of the World.

He looked down to the younger Branch, who seemed to be humming along to the song.

As he smiled at the sight, he suddenly heard the thuds of footsteps. Bergen footsteps. He quickly grabbed Branch and hid in a nearby bush.

It all happened so fast.

The younger pair heard their grandma screaming at their older brothers, which according to the sounds of them still singing, didn't notice anything wrong. They then heard their brothers suddenly scream as they fell to the ground near the bush they were hiding in. The pair slowly came out of the bush and stared wide-eyed as the giant chef took their screaming grandmother away, with the other brothers screaming for her.

Floyd's heart went numb and he could have sworn that both he and Branch somehow went more gray.

Turning their attention to the others, the five brothers made eye contact for the first time in a while. The older brothers' shame was met with Floyd's silent but huge amount of rage and Branch's sadness and disappointment.

What Floyd told them next crushed them even more.

He told them that he intended to visit them, but now he does not want to see their faces ever again. Grandma was dead because of them.

As the pair turned and left, neither of them took notice as the guilt and shame took over and the three older brothers turned gray.

The trio looked at each other and agreed that it was best that they left the Troll Tree and went their separate ways. None of the brothers sang since, and that's how it was for 20 years.

I Can't Take It Anymore (Youngest Runaways AU)

John Dory was the first to storm into the pod, with the others following. Floyd dragged his feet as he already began to hear the three eldest brothers began to argue about their performance.

"See what happens when you don't follow my lead?" the eldest brother ranted as Spruce glared daggers right behind him.

"Dude, that is exactly what happens when we follow your lead!" he immediately hissed back at him.

Baby Branch looked at the developing argument with growing concern and fear in his eyes as Floyd inched over next to his side.

"Yeah, dude! This used to be fun! Now it's all about being perfect," Clay joined in at some point.

The youngest siblings stared in shock when Spruce suddenly declared that he was quitting the band, tearing off his purple vest.

As the two other older brothers began to argue with more intensity, Floyd glanced over to Branch and saw the fear and heartbreak in his eyes.

Now, Floyd was not only the sensitive one of the group, but also the peacekeeper and mediator. He knew that he should have spoken up right there, but after seeing Branch's eyes, something in him snapped as he made a decision. Neither of them should have to tolerate this fighting anymore.

He crouched to Bitty B's level and looked him in the eyes.

"Branch, we need to leave," the redhead held his shoulders, not realizing that there was fear showing in his eyes.

"...Huh?"

Before the trolling realized what was happening, Floyd scooped him up into his arms and held him tight as he bolted past the other brothers and out of the pod.

JD, Spruce and Clay immediately stopped fighting and tried to run after the redhead in confusion.

"FLOYD! PLEASE WAIT!" JD tried to call out to him, now sounding more distressed as the other two brothers pleaded for the redhead to stop.

"Don't look back," Floyd kept on repeating in his head as tears fell from his face.

Branch, who was pressed against the older brother's chest, began to cry as he didn't understand anything that was happening except that Floyd was very upset and also crying.

After turning a few more corners as the chase continued down the Troll Tree, the pair lost their pursuers as Floyd hopped into a hidden entrance on the ground floor, leading to a small underground hideout he made a while ago to escape from the world.

As the pair hushed down under the hatch door, they could hear the faint screams of their older brothers.

But Floyd knew that they could never go back.

So while I was wrapping up the chapter side of my Rocking Harmony AU, I made a few more AUs for trolls, including CRK and a big and special underground outcasts au (still ironing out a few things for both of those). A smaller AU that I'm ready to show in the meanwhile is called the Youngest Runaways AU. Basically, instead of Branch's brothers leaving him after their fight, Floyd just snaps and runs off with Bitty B before the other three can have a chance to leave themselves. (More info and some drawings under the cut!)

Basic info I thought up for it so far:

-Floyd built a small bunker/hideout on the ground next to the troll tree when the arguments began to get more frequent. After the escape, he and Branch worked together to build the bunker that they originally drew up for themselves and their other brothers (minus the water slide smh)

-Branch for the first few years living with Floyd kept his blue and white glasses until he upgraded to blue and white goggles

-at some point between the pair leaving the pod and the great escape, King Peppy trusted them enough to oversee the finishing touches on the tunnels

-Floyd turned gray due to the stress and second-guessing of him leaving the pod and taking baby Branch, while Branch turned gray shortly after because he couldn't bear to see his brother be so sad

-they were in charge of escorting baby Poppy out of the tunnels and were the first ones to escape because of it. They were trusted to be her bodyguards ever since

-while over time trolls recognize Branch as Poppy's bodyguard, Floyd prefers to remain out of sight and as a result, next to no one knew he existed prior to the events of the first movie

-Floyd yearns for the day to see Creek obliterated (or to be given permission to do it himself)

-Branch's current cloak was made from Floyd's old vest that he sewn together

-Branch is much more stealthy and nimble on his feet, though that doesn't mean that Floyd isn't fast either. This is the reason that Branch was given a retractable pole for close-ranged attacks. Floyd prefers long-ranged attacks but carries knuckle dusters just in case

-Because he had to take care of two younger children for most of his life, Floyd practiced how to sew and even prides himself in having better sewing skills than even Satin and Chenille

-random fact time: this was actually originally just gonna have bitty b running away and finding and living with an abandoned baby rhonda!

Some tidbits of how Movie 1 could go down in this AU (Youngest Runaways AU)

So I've been thinking a bit as to how this au would play out in terms of the movies, so here's what I got in terms of the first movie:

-Floyd gets captured with the rest of the snack pack by chef

-after poppy finds branch in the bunker and tells him, he was pretty insistent on going with her

-poor branch has his hands full for most of the journey due to poppy being reckless (get back up again scene)

-since by this point in their lives branch and floyd's personalities are a bit of a swap of their canon ones, cloud guy is a bit nicer to branch in terms of getting him to reciprocate the high five

-when chef first reveals the trolls in her fanny pack to gristle, he points out that floyd is gray and not singing, to which he makes up an excuse as to not get separated from the others and still protect them

-floyd first accuses creek of selling them out/strangling him, then branch and poppy tag team

-cooper is the only one of the snack pack to have some idea of who floyd is because floyd began to grow attached to him and not hide as much around him (this begins pre-movie 1)

-when poppy asks why they won't sing, they just say that they saw a 'few certain individuals' sing to the point of getting distracted and their grandma made the sacrificial push

-in the true colors scene, while branch and poppy sing that song, floyd also sings a version of lonely people

-floyd and cooper help in lighting creek and chef on fire

me, who has a few aus that I should eventually get back to working on because they're all bouncing around in my head: hhhhhhh branch's brothers come back before the escape and got left behind instead of viva and basically lead the vacay island version of the putt-putt trolls. idk maybe they'll refer to themselves as the islander or vacay trolls or something

Biosoul Info and other tidbits! (Indie Underground AU)

Okay, so last post relating to the indie underground I made mentioned these entities called Biosouls. Branch and Poppy (and eventually other Light Keepers like Floyd) are the main guys taking them on directly, but what are Biosouls exactly?

Over the years, thanks to the scientists working together with the magic of Trollmir and Trolldin (will be discussed another time), some kind of atmosphere (Biosphere) spontaneously appeared. The souls of departed trolls that lived in the underground as well as fully artificial souls seemed to have combined with the energy of the labs and the magic and sort of became new entities. The main antagonist rounded most of them up and manipulated them to take on the forms of trolls on the surface and 'disposing' of the real counterparts.

Now, some doodles with crumbs of lore

-how Light Keepers with the Attacker State transforms is basically inspired by how Jibanyan transforms into his shadowside form in Yokai Watch Shadowside (the attacker states are inspired from shadowside and the into the shadows au I've seen, especially the beast modes!)

-Floyd doesn't awaken this attacker state until much later in the au, but it takes longer for him to use it because he's terrified of losing control. Unfortunately, this translates to him trying really hard to restrain his body from choosing for him and isolating himself to try and let it take its course alone

-like the shadowside forms, Branch and Floyd's attacker states for instance is a little different (Branch is the only one of the pair to have a tail, while Floyd gets shadowlike claws). If there are others like them, they will look different too.

-the members of the underground actually recruited Cloud Guy before the first movie took place to begin to test Branch and Poppy and eventually other trolls like the Snack Pack. Once he's on friendlier terms with Branch, he invites him to watch him train his brothers using similar methods.

-Mr. Dinkles is one of the critter agents that was planted with the Pop Trolls to help spot and help out any new potential members of the underground and was the one that helped in leading the Light Keepers to the underground for their protection. As for if Biggie knew this...

(As a reward for anyone who read this far, I'm giving a heads up that I am working on some stuff for the youngest runaways au, including around the time grandma got eaten and cooper meeting floyd for the first time!)
