Summary: You try to cope with the fact that you died with Eric’s surprisingly nice help. And just when you think things couldn’t get weirder you recieve an unexpected voicemail.
Previously:
Eric dropped you off at your cabin where Cam was waiting to surprise you in a way you never wanted him to. Cam attacked you and the last thing you saw before everything went black was Eric unable to enter the cabin.
Coughing and gasping for air you open your eyes. You just had the strangest dream. Or was it? You feel the warmth and stickiness of what seems to be blood all over you. Eric's hand is on your back as you try to get up. "Easy." He tells you gently. "What happened?" You see Cam's head lying a few feet away from his body. But at that moment your mind had different priorities. "How are you inside?" Your voice is raspy and cracks every now and then. "I thought vampires had to be invited in." Eric helps you get over to the couch and sits you down. He sits down opposite you on the table. "They do. But when the owner dies they can get in as they please." Confused you look at him. Wait. "I died?" You ask with effort. You know you shouldn't be talking so much after literally being choked to death. Eric just nods. Now you start to panic. "Am I a vampire? Or worse a zombie? Zombie's are real right?" Eric just puts his finger on your lips telling you to shut up. You always thought it was awkward and weird when men did this, but when Eric did it, it send a shiver down your spine. "I gave you cpr." Eric says. "Oh." You say not having thought about that. Knowing your life hasn't just completely changed by becoming something undead you feel more reassured. Still, the fact that you had died made you feel uneasy. You have always felt like you were invulnerable, a main character, this final girl in horror movies. But in fact, in real life, you were not Elena Gilbert or Buffy. You were just plain old y/n. Well maybe you'd get some points for having a vampire care enough about you to save your life. Sunken deeply into your thoughts you only realized Eric had gotten up when he came back with a glass of water. "Here, drink this." He gives you the glass of water and gently squeezes your shoulder. "Ah fuck!" You scream out in pain as Eric touches your beaten up shoulder. In the shock of having died and all you totally forgot about the flower pot destroying your shoulder. Eric looks at you a bit confused, but more concerned. Is it bad to say that his concern about you surprised you the most? "You know I  can make the pain go away." Eric sits down next to you on the couch and touches your hand as he takes the glass out of it. Thanks to the jolt of pain you had spilled most of the water on you and the couch. "If you don't stop acting like this I would almost think you are boyfriend material, Northman." You try to say this with your usual spirit, but you end up sounding a bit like a broken bird. "So you don't want me to heal you?" Even though he has lived for about forever, Eric Northman wasn't really that quick… Was he? You try to swallow to make it easier to speak, but when that doesn't work you take the glass from Eric's hand and take a few sips. You can feel his eyes watching you, but it doesn't make you feel uncomfortable. No, it just makes you feel kind of safe. "You came back to save me, gave me cpr instead of turning me into a vampire, the glass of water, what is next? Cleaning up this place?" You give him a faint smile. With all the blood on your face you must look terrible. "I just didn't expect you to be this good to me." You confess feeling a bit guilty. "Neither did I." Eric says to your surprise. Your eyes lock and for a moment you feel like you actually might like him. But then you realize what is sitting next to you. He is a vampire, a killer, not the boy next-door. "I have to go right now if I am going to make it back there before the sun rises." Eric gets up. Before you know what you are doing you take his hand and ask him to stay. "There is a small cellar underneath the floor. It's dusty and not as amazing as Fangtasia probably, but I really don't want to be alone right now." Eric takes your other hand and gets you on your feet. "And if you please, you may heal me a little bit. I think my shoulder is fractured." Eric is still holding your hands and looks at you. Partly you expected him to make a flirty remark, but he didn't. Maybe he knew that you weren't in the mood for one of his unwavering attempts to get you to sleep with him. "Okay, I'll stay." How was it this simple? Eric bites his wrist and offers it to you. You look him in the eye. "Just enough to speed up the healing, okay?" Eric nods and you put his wrist to your lips. His sweet metallic blood enters your mouth and you try to think about something else to refrain yourself from throwing up. After a sip Eric takes his arm back. "Thank you." You already felt a bit better. "I'm just going to freshen myself up a bit." A shower was out of the question, you can barely move your right arm. You disappear into the bathroom and start cleaning your face with a wet towel. It takes a while until you get all the blood from your skin, but when you do you look a whole lot less Carrie. Only the blood in your hair is refusing to come out completely. With your shoulder crying out in pain you give up. Carefully you slide out of your dirty clothes and put on your mothers old nightgown. When you came out of the bathroom Cam's dead body was gone. And so was Eric. With the glass of water you poured for yourself you walk over to the bed and lie down. Even with the vampire blood in your system you needed some rest. "Hey." You mumble when you see Eric entering the cabin. You hold the blanket up for him asking him to join you. Without saying anything Eric gets in next to you and you cuddle up against him. "Thank you for everything, Eric." You say before drifting off to sleep.
Considering everything you had quite a peaceful sleep. When you woke up around noon you still felt the pain in your shoulder, but it wasn't nearly as bad as last night. You drew yourself a hot and relaxing bath. Maybe not the best thing to do when you have a lot of things you can think over, but don't actually want to. At the beginning you were so excited about this whole supernatural adventure, but now you had actually died. To be fair the reason you died had nothing to do with the supernatural. If it hadn't been for a vampire you would have stayed dead. So maybe it wasn't that bad that you got involved in all of this after all. After being completely clean you get to cleaning the house before you make yourself some food. In a few hours the sun will start to go down again and Eric will need blood. And you really don't want to be his bloodbag. There is a small town not too far from your cabin. But you don't feel all too safe leaving Eric alone in the cellar during the day. After finishing your food you decide to get the mountain bike from the shed. Cycling there won't take as long as walking, it's a good compromise. Eric Really needed the blood and what could happen in those 30 minutes that you were away? No one knows about the cabin. Now that you think about it, how the hell did Cam know about the cabin anyway? And how did he know you were there? Was he following you or maybe tracking your phone? And if he did, who else could be too? There were so many questions and every time there are added more to the stack. On your way over to the store you are thinking about the food you could cook tonight and the nice bottle of wine you could pair it with. Only to remember that Eric is a vampire. In your family it had always been a way of showing love and appreciation when you cook a nice meal for someone. The thought of not being able to do this for Eric suddenly makes you very sad. Still you could still cook a nice meal for yourself. In the store you stock up on some blood for Eric, just in case, and some things for yourself. In the checkout line your eyes fall on a tall and handsome man. He has a nice smile and his bald head reflects the light overhead. When he tells the cashier goodbye his eyes meet yours for a second and you realize he is a supernatural being. Not because of his purple eyes, but his quiet mind. You could read some flashes and you could tell he was into you. "Ah fuck me." You curse under your breath, maybe a little too loud because the cashier was giving you a look. As the man was walking away you heard him think, clear as day, "She looks a bit like Sookie.". Why do all the supernatural men know your bitchy sister?!? You hand the cashier the cash and run out after him. "Hey, wait!" He turns around. Up close his eyes are even more beautiful. No y/n, focus. "You know Sookie, right?" His smile just brightens. "Ah, you must be y/n, Sookies long lost sister." He says. "I'm Quinn." "What? Does everyone know I'm Sookie's sister?" You ask. "Everyone in the supernatural community, yes." Quinn says. Everyone knew who you were, yet Sookie doesn't even want to acknowledge you. "Okay, that's something." You say uneasy, not really sure how to react. "Look I got to run, I'm planning a party for the town's celebration of Halloween." Before he turns around you see his eyes glint as if he just had a good idea. "You know, what? You should come by tomorrow. It's at the town square." "Oh, thank you. If I'm still around I'll be sure to check it out." You say for the sake of trying to be polite rather than looking forward to a party. The shock of having died still hasn't quite left you. Quinn leaves and you get back to your bike. The rest of the day was rather uneventful. You went out into the forest to chop some wood for the fireplace. It would probably get pretty chilly tonight.
"You look stunning." Your heart dropped. Quickly you turn around to see a disheveled Eric standing in the middle of the livingroom. "Eric!" You exclaim. "You scared me!" He smiles. "What is that?" "I was just about to start making dinner." You put the pasta in the water. Eric sits down on the chair at the kitchen island. "How are you feeling?" He asks you to your surprise. You turn around to grab a bottle of blood from the fridge and put it in the microwave. "I'm fine." You tell him. "I mean, I'm alive, I should be fine. Right?" Eric just sits there and watches your every move. Almost as if he doesn't trust you and expects you to pull out a stake at any given moment. That is not what he is thinking, you are sure, but he does watch you intently. The bottle is warm and you give it a good shake before you slide it over to Eric. "Would I be a brat if I am not completely fine? Does that make me weak?" With your elbows on the counter you rest your chin on your hands. Expectantly you look at Eric. Were you really expecting some wise words, some understanding, from a centuries old creature? "I don't think you are weak." Eric tells you with a cold certainty that comforts you. "Will you still stay with me, please." You ask him biting your lower lip. "I just don't want to be alone. Knowing you are here… it makes me feel safe. For some stupid reason are you, the deadly vampire, making me feel better." "I have business in Bon temps." Eric says a bit frigid. "We still need to get our plan ready against the fellowship." Disappointed you look at him with your sad eyes. Eyes that any man would find hard to resist. His eyes dart from your eyes to your lips. There was no need for mind reading, you knew he was thinking about how bad he wanted to kiss those lips. Your lips. "But I will call Pam and tell her I am staying here a few more nights." Like a little kid your eyes light up. With a big smile plastered across your face you pour yourself a glass of wine. "I'll drink to that." You clink your glass with his bottle of blood and take a sip. "Don't you miss it?" You ask Eric while stirring the pasta sauce. "Eating real food. There is so much to discover in the culinary world." Eric just shrugs. "I have forgotten what food even tastes like. You can't miss what you don't know." You shake your head. "Nu-uh, that's not true." Eric raises his eyebrow at you. "Before the first time I fell in love I just craved to feel that butterfly sensation in my stomach. To feel even more alive than I have ever felt. To have someone look at you like you are their whole world. I wanted to be driven crazy by my feelings, to long for their touch. And that when they did touch me my skin would tingle in the most beautiful way imaginable. I had never felt it, but still I wanted it. True I didn't miss it, but I was missing out on it." You take a few sips from your wine and add a bit to the sauce. "Do you experience love like humans? If you even love at all." "I don't know." Eric admits. "I can love, but if I remember correctly it is not the same as humans do. It's more complicated." You raise your eyebrows at his answer, but instead of saying something about it you continue cooking and drinking some wine. Eric watches you in silence while he finishes his bottle. "I would really hate to be a vampire." You say while plating your dinner. "I'm just really glad you didn't turn me." You take a bite and look at his face. "Did the thought cross your mind though?" "It did." Eric says matter of fact like. "You would be so much stronger as a vampire plus you would get to live forever, but I knew that you wouldn't have wanted it." "I would not want to live forever. The fact that life is going to end, it just makes it that much more meaningful. By the way, I ran into this guy today, he knows Sookie." This got Eric's attention. It kind of hurt seeing how quickly his eyes shot up at the sound of her name. Why was everyone so obsessed with her? "Did you get a name?" "Quinn, he is some kind of event planner and he invited me to a Halloween party." You tell him casually. You've finished your dinner and start to clean up. "Another bottle?" Eric nods and you proceed to heat up another bottle of O-neg. "Ah, the weretiger." Your eyes widen in disbelieve. "A weretiger?" "There is a great deal you don't know about the supernatural yet, y/n." Eric says and shrugs. "You'll learn." He takes the full bottle from you, slightly touching your fingers. You sigh. "You're troubled." Eric states. "It's stupid." You say while putting away some of the things into the cupboards. Your back is towards Eric so he can't see the frown displayed on your face. But in a way he can still feel it. "You can tell me, I can be an excellent listener." You purse your lips in a frown that he could have read as 'yeah right' if only he had been able to see your face. "You don't really strike me as someone who eagerly listens to someone else's thoughts when he knows he can't benefit from it." "Oh." Eric sighs and takes a few sips from his blood. "What oh?" Curious and offended you turn around to face him. "You have decided I am the enemy again." "I have not!" You exclaim offended. Eric scoffs. "You do this every time I come too close to you. You act like I am  the bad guy incapable of caring for poor little old you." Eric is really starting to get agitated and he stands up. "But I am here!" He yells at you. "I saved your life and I stayed because you wanted me  to! I let you sleep in my arms because you wanted to feel safe!" Eric stops shouting at you in anger to rub his hand across his mouth. He searches your face for any indication of what you might be thinking. "I'm sorry Eric." Is all you are able to mutter. "I care, y/n, I don't like that I do, but I care about you a lot." Eric sits back down. Was that supposed to be a compliment? "I am taking you to that Halloween party tomorrow!" Wait What! "I didn't even say I was planning on going." To say that you are confused is not completely covering the wide reign of emotions housing your body. "From the second that I met you everything has been messy. Let's just have a nice evening together as if I didn't just kill your ex boyfriend last night." You watch him trying to hide the smile on your face. "And some weird cult isn't trying to kill you?" You ask him. "Yes and that too. Let's have one uncomplicated night. Just a normal man and a normal girl." Eric looks at you with a twinkle in his dead cold eyes you hadn't ever seen there before. There is a small smile on his lips, making you feel all giddy inside. "Are you asking me on a date mister Northman?" You tease him with a huge smile plastered across your face. Eric shakes his head. "Strictly professional." He holds his head a little higher and looks at you. "Unless I could get you to sleep with me." You laugh and shake your head. "Ah, yes, there it is."
You and Eric spent a nice night together, talking, drinking and eventually when you couldn't keep your eyes open anymore he let you cuddle up against him in bed. Late afternoon you are in town to pick up the costumes that Eric had ordered for you. You don't know what should worry you more, the fact that Eric wanted to wear a costume or the fact that he ordered one for you. He promised you it wasn't anything slutty. Trusting Eric on his word was the first step towards a better relationship with him. The town was already pretty crowded with people decorating and carrying supplies. Sometimes it would have been nice to have been part of a community like this. Cities just hit different. You walk into the post offices which is completely empty. "Hello?" You walk up to the counter and ring the bell placed on top. "I'm coming!" A female voice calls from the back.  A few seconds later she walks into the room. Your metaphorical jaw dropped when you saw her. She was about the most gorgeous human being you had ever seen. If Scarlet Johansson and Megan Fox had a love child together she would be the result. "Can I help you?" She beams at you. "Oh yeah, I came to pick up a package." Her whole presence made you a bit awkward. "It's either under Northman or y/l/n." She smiles. "Your boyfriend ordered you something?" Her bright green eyes beam at you. Gorgeous and kind, don't tell me she has an amazing personality too… "He is not my boyfriend." You say thinking it over in your head. "But I guess he is my date for tonight." "You are coming to the Halloween party!" She exclaims excited. "How wonderful!" At that moment your phone starts to ring so you quickly press ignore. 'You are not from around, are you?" She asks while she starts checking the packages for their names. "No, but my family does own a cabin nearby so I used to play at the Elizabeth playground a lot when I was a kid." Distracted you start playing with the pen on the counter in front of you. When you were younger you played with a lot of kids from this town, but you don't remember a gorgeous girl with dark copper colored hair.  "So we probably have met before, but we don't remember it. I'm Jenna by the way." She puts the package on the counter. "I'm Y/n." You accidentally drop the pen when you reach out to shake her hand. "Oh, I'm sorry." You pick up the pen and notice the picture of a sun above the name of a church. "You attend Brighthills?" You put the pen back on the counter and pick up your package. "My parents mostly, I don't really go that much anymore." "Ah, well I gotta run. See you tonight Jenna." You clumsily wave at her while trying to balance the big box in one hand before leaving the postoffice. "See you!" She calls after you as the door closes behind you. Now that you are alone you wonder who called you. You didn't recognize the phone number. 'You've got 1 new voicemail' You put your phone to your ear and listen. "Hey, hi, this is uh Jason Stackhouse. I think that I am your brother. I'm sorry I didn't call sooner, but I just now received your phone number and I didn't know how else to reach you. I'm sorry about my sister, uh, our sister, but I really would like to get to know you. Maybe we could go get a drink at Merlotte's sometime when you are in the neighborhood. Just let me know when you get this and call me back. Bye." Okay, holy shit. Now you also have a brother?!? You only knew about Sookie, you never knew that Sookie also had a brother. At least he wanted to get to know you…

Note
can i just say that you write godric and eric SO WELL! that and your original characters are so perfect. none of their existences are dependent on one another, which is SO hard to find in a fanfiction. they all feel so real, that it just blows my mind you achieved that with just words. you are such an amazing writer 🥹
OMG OMG OMG OMG Thank you 😭😭😭😭
You guys are so incredibly kind, (patient) and supportive!!
But let me tell ya, Godric is THE HARDEST character to write. Any Godric/Kate scenes require meditation and coffee and a lot of pacing. It is so rewarding when I get these comments, thank you <3
I put my WHOLE HEART in creating my original characters, and I try to make the canon characters complete as well, each with their own aspirations, desires an fears that suit the character we know and the plot of the story. I think you it in perfect terms "none of their existences are dependent on another". Love that
Thank you again <3
