Whitesnake Released April 7 1987 This has got to be one of my Top 20 Favorite Albums of All Time.  So many great songs on this album, this album should really be a greatest hits.  Released in 1987 this album aggressively competed for top spots on the Billboard 200.  Got as high as number 2 on the charts competing against Michael Jackson's "Bad", Whitney Houston, and U2's "Joshua Tree".  It is their 7th Studio Album and is the last album to have the collaboration of David Coverdale and John Sykes.   Lots of great vocals from Coverdale on here and many examples of his vocal range can be found throughout.  The guitar playing is extraordinary, the entire album is pretty much at a fast melodic pace so keep the volume on 10!! I’ve been wanting to highlight independent labels more since they work so hard and spend so much time and money to put out music that they believe in. I talked about @dhu_records not long ago and thought, let’s add some smaller label love to the challenge. I’ve been a Riding Easy (Easy Rider) fan for some time, if you don’t know the specialty is heavy psych, doom, metal, and rock. I trust what‘s put out and know that I’ll like it; I mean I’ve even gotten hate mail for being a supporter of this label (true story). Not only is the music great but the musicians on these records are some of the nicest people and part of this IG community. I’m only missing a couple things, and couldn’t fit anything else in this picture anyway, but don’t worry I have a divider (bottom of the shelf on the left cut off some) for the label so I will at some point have them all. Silk + Steel Giuffria Released May 1986  Gregg Giuffria left the band Angel and formed the band in 1981 There are some great vocals on this 2nd album from the band Giuffria, lots of great memorable  guitar playing and definitely lots of keyboards.  As the sides of the albums state, the Silk side represents a more "romantic side"  as opposed to the "Steel" side of a more "hard rock side".  The album peaked at number 60 on the Billboard 200 charts.  I remember owning this album on both CD and Cassette and now I have it on vinyl.  It is a definite keeper since I enjoy almost all the songs on the album and if I ever needed to find this album again, I know it would be difficult to find. August Eric Clapton Released November 24 1986 Considered to be Clapton's "comeback" album, it produced the number one hit "It's In The Way That You Use It", which was also used in the movie soundtrack "The Color of Money".  This album was mostly produced by Phil Collins and has Tina Turner sharing vocals in the songs "Tearing Us Apart" and "Hold On".   Each year I've become more and more of a Clapton fan.  I do own a good number of records from him and I have not yet fully listened to all of them.  What I have heard already, I've liked. Chicago 17 Chicago Released May 14 1984 This is Chicago's 14th studio album.  The prior album "Chicago 16" and this album "Chicago 17" were really big sellers in the 80's and for me really defined the sound of the band during that time.  Prior to both these albums I've always thought of the band as more of a Jazz band.  Chicago 17  has 4 hit singles in which all of them charted within the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100.  This album would become the last album with Peter Cetera as vocalist in the band and remains the band's biggest seller. Side One Stay The Night - 10/10 Great song, great music video! Hit Single We Can Stop The Hurtin' - 8/10 Hard Habit To Break - 10/10 Classic love song from the 80's. Hit Single Only You - 6/10 not a fan of the horns, still like the song. Remember The Feeling - 10/10 this should have been a hit. Just A Stone's Throw Away (Debut Solo Album) Valerie Carter Released 1977 This is my first time spinning this album.  I've played it several times over the last few days and it is enjoyable.  My first thought was that this is going to be an R&B album.  However it is a blend of most genres.  Valerie Carter has great vocal range as heard on her hit song "Ooh Child".  Upon reading about her bio, Valerie is influenced by what I call the Southern California music scene.  Her album was contributed by some of music's well known artists such as Jackson Browne, Deniece Williams, and Linda Ronstadt.  I recommend giving this album a listen if you happen to find a copy. Mistaken Identity Kim Carnes Released  April 1981 Who do you know that has "Bette Davis Eyes"? This is Kim's 6th Studio Album and it was on the Billboard 200 charts for 4 weeks at number 1.  It also received Grammy Award for Album of the Year. Kim Carnes had a massive single hit in the early 80's which was played over the radio over and over again.  Her voice is very unique, raspy like Bonnie Tyler, and Rod Stewart.  It wasn't until I played this album recently that her voice is very similar to Rod Stewarts.  Her voice really makes you want to listen closely to the lyrics.  Overall this is a great album for my personal score of 8 out 10 songs are a favorite of mine, Carnes is a great songwriter and this album is a perfect example of it.   Side One Bette Davis Eyes - 10/10 Classic 80's Single Hit Hit And Run -   8/10  Sounds like a classic Rod Stewart song Mistaken Identity - 4/10  When I'm Away From You - 8/10. Mechanix UFO Released February 1982 Do you believe in UFOs?  For me, it's this band.  Hard rock classic which brought forth great musicians to the modern world. This is the album I learned to play air guitar on.  UFO is a British Rock Band formed in 1968.  It still bothers me that this is a band that should have had a larger fan base.  The music is just incredible.  Mechanix is their 10th studio album and is filled with great melodic tracks, memorable guitar solos, and some of the most thoughtful lyrics compacted onto vinyl.  Some of the songs almost have a western cowboy sunset feel to it since the lyrics are incredibly soulful and harmonized by the waning of the guitar strings.  The album strikes many soulful moods of love like "Terri" to the hard lead guitar licks of "Feel It".  For me personally, this is one of my Top 20 Favorite albums of all time, I know there are other UFO albums that many enjoy but this one will always hold special to me.
