You have to stop comparing Rick Riordan to J.K. Rowling.
J.K. Rowling is an extremely problematic person. She’s said and done so many horrible things both in her writing and on Twitter, and I won’t list them all here. 
Rick Riordan has also probably done some problematic things, and if you are offended by something he wrote I won’t invalidate your experiences. But the fact remains that he is overall a decent human being and tries to improve.
He starts out strong in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Most of the characters have dyslexia and/or ADHD, which makes kids with one or both feel incredibly seen. J.K. Rowling, by the way, has refused to include any canon neurodivergent characters, specifically autistic (with the exception of Luna, who’s often interpreted as autistic) because ‘magic fixes anything.’ A lot of ND people, especially autistic people, have tried to explain that there’s nothing ‘wrong’ with them, et cetera. But anyway, Rick Riordan starts with a buttload of ND representation. Kind of a big deal. Not a lot of POC or LGBTQ+ representation, but it’s not bad.
And then he gets better. He listens to fan input and adds characters of multiple races, nationalities, ethnicities, etc. Some already existing characters are confirmed to be LGBTQ+ and some get partners. J.K. Rowling said Dumbledore was gay and then backed that up with little to no text evidence in her next works. It would’ve been so easy for Rick Riordan to do the same with Nico di Angelo, but instead we get some coming out content and Solangelo. And yes, while some characters are problematically written, he is at least trying. And there’s no Cho Chang. He adds some gender representation in Magnus Chase with Alex Fierro, which is obviously not perfect. He also adds some disability rep with Hearthstone. Some people are annoyed that there’s no punctuation with Hearth’s signing, but in my opinion it’s better than nothing. 
All that aside, Rick Riordan has done nothing like J.K. on social media. She’s using her social media platform exclusively to bully trans people and play the victim. He uses his platform to endorse books and let us know when the next ones are coming out. He’s also admitted that his writing and is imperfect, which J.K. refuses too. If you aren’t happy with something in Rick Riordan’s books, you probably have every right to and I will happily listen to you rant. No author is truly unproblematic, and Rick Riordan is no exception. However, you have to stop comparing him to J.K. Rowling, who has, to use the common term, lost her shit.
