i keep having weird horror game nightmares
#one time i had a nightmare where i downloaded an app that put you in a randomized game during the nighttime. and you you couldn't delete it#without doing a ton of steps#and all of the games had different rules that you had to pay attention to or youd die. especially for ones with creatures in them#the last one i remembered had this thing that couldn't kill you as long as you were hidden and it didn't know and i was so terrified. i was#trying to delete the app forever but it tried to trick you into allowing the games to go on even if you deleted it. and once you did you#couldn't redownload it to get yourself out properly. i ended up being able to do it but i couldn't sleep the rest of the night because it#felt so real and i wasnt sure i had actually gotten out#and then yesterday night i had a dream i was selected by this weirdly religious like. 8 armed ball robot along with a group of other people#and it brought us to this house and it was fine for a bit but then things started happening and there ware rules. and there was another kid#there with me in this room and we had to hide under a blanket or else something would get you. and then it evolved so you also had to copy#the sound pattern it was making. but for that one there was also a different girl there was was definitely part of the house that i didn't#trust. and then there was this other thing where if you weren't tucked in this tall lady would eat you. and i was barely tucked in because#she came out of nowhere and i thought i was going to die but by some weird glitch it registered as tucked. but she leaned over me and tucke#me in properly and i was so sure she was going to kill me and she'd be all up close doing it. and i had this feeling constantly that the#robot was still around out there watching and it terrified me more than anything else#the last thing i remember from that wad waiting for the tall lady to make her rounds again but i woke up. and like again i wasnt all that#sure it didn't happen and then my mom checked up on me and it freaked me out dhfhdjsjkd#anyway i dont like dreaming#personal posts and stuff idk

BABYSITTING WITH HIM
Tumblr media
characters ♡ oikawa, tendou & sakusa
tw ♡ children, cursing & mentions of arson
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TŌRU OIKAWA
♡ he is pretty much a professional babysitter, or so he thought
♡ which is why he accepted when you asked if he could help you take care of your nieces/nephews for the weekend
♡ i mean, he takes care of his nephew all the time so how hard could babysitting possibly be? it was basically a free pass to spend the day with you
♡ however, he began to regret his decision as he sat on your couch and realised that he wouldn’t be able to get even somewhat intimate with you when there was constantly an annoying little boy clinging to his arm, asking him if he had any games on his phone
♡ “sorry, kid.” oikawa smiled, clenching his jaw to hide the rage but it wasn’t very effective, “i’ve not got any games. maybe you could go play with your toys or something.”
♡ he let out a sigh, making the mistake of thinking that would be the end of their interaction
♡ “can’t you just download some?” the boy retaliated
♡ you snickered, watching as the energy visibly drained from oikawa, yet he still wore his frighteningly bright grin
♡ “i’ve not got any storage.”
♡ “then delete some of your apps or photos.” the boy said with a shrug, then proceeded to point at oikawa’s home screen, which happened to be a picture of him and you in front of an ethereal sunset, “start with that one. you both look like dorks.”
♡ you and oikawa’s unified gasps of offence were enough to show the boy that he was able to do exactly what he intended; piss y’all off
♡ hence, with a final mischievous snicker, he dashed off
♡ “i hate kids.” oikawa muttered, inspecting his homescreen to see if he really did look like a ‘dork’, “what is his problem?”
♡ “what if our kids turn out like that?” you joked
♡ his eyes widened momentarily, turning to look at you with an uncharacteristically sheepish expression, “our w--”
♡ “mr kawa!” a cry could be heard from the kitchen so without hesitation, you both hopped to your feet and rushed over there as quick as you could
♡ once you both reached the area the yell came from, you were fortunately not greeted by anything gruesome
♡ instead, you both got to behold two children trying to reach the top shelf with the power on friendship; the taller boy was standing on a chair, while the toddler held it still
♡ however, his grip on the jar of the Nutella must’ve loosened at some point as it now lay dejectedly on the ground, half spilled across the tiles and the other half drenching the toddler, not that they seemed to mind though
♡ in fact, it looked like they were having the time of their — albeit, short — life
♡ the container was only plastic, hence you didn’t have to worry about shards when you darted over to the poor, chocolate-covered baby and scooped them up into your arms, “are you guys, okay?!”
♡ “yeah.” the boy chuckled, noticing that holding the toddler was transferring the chocolate onto you too
♡ “if you wanted nutella, you could’ve just asked.” oikawa sighed, helping the boy get down safely from the chair before putting the object back at it’s intended spot at the dinner table
♡ “you could have gotten seriously hurt! i thought you would know better than to do something like this.” you scolded, becoming even more furious as the baby continued to playfully slap your face with their grimy hands, “please don’t do that again.”
♡ before they boy got the chance to do anything besides murmur a vague apology, oikawa interjected, “they won’t get the chance.”
♡ and he was right
♡ after cleaning everything up (including the child, which took forever), you didn’t let either of the rascals out of your sight until your duties as babysitters were complete
♡ “i think we handled that pretty well.” oikawa mused, gathering his stuff along with you as you both got ready to leave
♡ “yeah, maybe we should do this again sometime.” you suggested, but it was followed by a few second was complete silence
♡ until you both burst out laughing
♡ “yeah, never again.” you agreed
♡ “the kids can take care of themselves.” oikawa said with shrug, offering his hand to you, before you both strutted out of the disaster house
♡ ever since then, it was a common inside joke between you to, when in the vicinity of a kid causing mayhem or being a nuisance, whisper to each or exchange a look that says, ‘it’s a great day to not be babysitting.’
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SATORI TENDŌ
♡ at first, you thought that asking tendou for help babysitting would be a bad idea bc he is just as hyperactive as the damn kids sometimes so he’d probably not be the best influence
♡ and you knew this bc one time you happened to run into him while out in the park with the kids and you asked him to watch them for literally a minute so you could run to the bathroom but when you came back all you almost had a heart attack because tendou was teaching them fkn tricks on the monkey bars
♡ however, you then realised that if the kids were busy committing arson with uncle tendou, then they wouldn’t be bothering you
♡ so here you are, playing monopoly with your boyfriend, a seven year-old and a one year-old
♡ well, it was less like monopoly and more like debate class since none of you could agree on the rules
♡ “well, uncle ten,” the older sibling began, in a very matter-of-factly tone, “if i burn your property down, then i  don’t have to pay you for landing on it.”
♡ “but then you also go to jail.” you pointed out
♡ “not if the police don’t catch me.”
♡ you burst out laughing, meanwhile tendou kept his business face on, “good point, but watch this.” tendou spoke as he rolled the dice, though no matter what if he got a number between four and seven, he would end up landing on somebody’s property
♡ he got a four
♡ picking up his piece, he moved it across each square individually and once he was due to land on your property, he knocked his piece over
♡ “whoops, i slipped.” he chuckled, though his friendly aura immediately dropped as he looked you dead in the eye and said, “i’m suing.”
♡ “you can’t sue me because you tripped!” you yelled
♡ “i guess i just fell for you.” he said, resulting in the kids both making gagging noises before he stuck out his hand, “100 monopoly dollars, please.”
♡ “like i said,” you tried your best to stay strong and not laugh at his shitting pickup line, “i’m not giving you any money, you fell!”
♡ “i guess we’ll have to take this matter to court then.” tendou said, tapping the shoulder of the one year-old who was currently chewing on a 500 bill which you quickly had to confiscate
♡ “judge, do you think (y/n) owes me 100 monopoly dollars for poor health and safety conduct?”
♡ “yes.”
♡ “that is the only word they know how to say!” you cried, begrudgingly handing over the money
♡ “thank you, angel.” tendou cooed, adding your singular bill to the pile he had already stored up; the winner of the game had already been decided
♡ and although you and the seven year-old kid both cried later after getting your asses kicked in monopoly (the one year-old cried too but they were just hungry), you all went out to get food and actually had a pretty good time
♡ it became a routine for tendou to help you babysit whenever he got the chance and y’all would always play table top games
♡ also when tendou got accepted into culinary school, he’d teach/show the kids what dishes he has learned to prepare and let them help by stirring the pot, adding spices etc etc
♡ and even when he moved to Paris, on special occasions, a box of chocolates would suddenly appear at the kids’ door and all the little pieces would be shaped and moulded into some of their favourite characters or made out of their favourite flavours
♡ and at one point the kids even insisted that you teach them how to make chocolates so they can send some back to uncle tendou <33
♡ they weren’t the best, but when tendou received the misshapen, slightly stale chocolates at his apartment, addressed from you and the children, he cried
Tumblr media Tumblr media
KIYOOMI SAKUSA
♡ his first response when you asked if he could help you babysit was ofc ‘ew no 🤢’
♡ needless to say it took a lot mansplain manipulate malewifing to convince him to come over
♡ but once he did, obviously he was in his full protective gear; there was no way in hell he was going to catch whatever germs the little goblins have
♡ honestly he almost sprayed a chid in the face with hand sanitizer when they came running up to him with open arms, trying to give him a hug
♡ which was unusual because the kids don’t tend to be overly friendly with new people, but you just brushed it off and figured that sakusa must’ve been an exception
♡ during his time babysitting, sakusa spend most of his energy trying to avoid the children at all costs that it basically became a game of tag, with you helping the child try to reach sakusa, and him hiding
♡ but honestly you couldn’t complain since the whole time the child was playing, they were safe with you rather than playing with fire
♡ until later you were reminded of their odd fondness for sakusa when they insisted that sakusa carry them to their bedroom when it was their nap time
♡ and as you were shifting through the books, looking for a story to read, it hit you why they seemed to be so familiar with sakusa
♡ it’s because he looked exactly like the prince in one of their favourite story books; same hair, both tall and they even had similar moles to each other
♡ upon noticing this, you immediately showed sakusa and was quite amused
♡ in fact, he found it so cute that he gave both you and the toddler a lil’ kiss on the cheek, as a parting gift — mask off and everything
♡ he ended up reading the story and the kid fell into deep slumber by the time he reached the second page
♡ letting out a sigh of relief, sakusa slumped onto the ground, allowing his own eyes to flutter shut for a moment, “what a day.”
♡ you shuffled over to you could lay down beside him, “indeed it was, prince sakusa.”
♡ “shut up.” he teased, poking your rib slightly before absently intertwining his fingers with your own
♡ next thing you knew, you were both awakened by the sound of a grumpy toddler...

Tumblr media
felix most certainly gets more than he bargained for, after his most anticipated wish comes true in the most unimaginable way possible
°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°
felix's daily mantras ranged from 'it's not that scary', to 'you can do it', even as far as 'it'll be okay'. the one that he never thought he'd use - and in a dream, nonetheless - was 'this can't be real'. but it was, at least in his dreams. he stood in the center of what looked like a school classroom - maybe ms. lee's? - facing off with a machine, with the words 'fortune teller cards - tear here' written on a plaque, with a slot just underneath it. before the curiosity had too much time to eat away at him, his dream self stepped forward and pressed the button just  a foot or so above the plaque, listening to the quiet churning inside the machine before what looked like a raffle ticket was spit out, into felix's waiting hand.
his eyes widened at the words 'your wish has been granted', before confusion took place of wonder and he stared at it harder, wondering which wish it was. he had many - when his parents struggled, he wished to be strong and able to take away their problems. when the kids at school teased him for his looks, or the fact that he was shorter than 97% of the male population at the school, he wished to be someone bigger, someone taller. when his best friends all began finding their soulmates and getting into relationships, he wished that he could be like that, finding the one he was meant for, whoever that may be.  he wasn't allowed more than a few moments to think about it, before a loud, shrill shriek broke the serenity of the room, and he jolted up in bed.
an unfamiliar room greeted his arrival back into the waking world, and he scrambled out of bed to the mirror hanging on the wall, praying that maybe this was the wish that he wanted to come true the most - to meet the one he was meant for.  he stared at a strangers face in the reflective surface, at the sharp jawline and soft cheeks and bangs that he knew he could never pull off, and suddenly realized that he, felix lee, was inhabiting the body of his soulmate.  scrambling to the door and searching for a bathroom, felix realized that his soulmate must be older than he was, since it appeared that he lived in an apartment by himself, given that there were no other signs of life in the space that he found himself in.  just down the hall from the bedroom was the bathroom, where felix threw himself in front of the mirror to make sure that it wasn't a trick, even though he knew from the start that it wasn't.  his soulmate couldn't be much shorter than himself, maybe a few centimeters, but the strong jawline and stern face made him seem much bigger than he actually was.  felix turned his face this way and that way, taking in all the features of his soulmates face, making different faces towards himself in the mirror, and even playing with the piercings that hung from his ears.  it wasn't long before nature called, and he did his business before wandering out of the room to find something to eat, wondering about the morality of taking a shower while he was in a body other than his own.  he decided that if he a: had to go somewhere, or b: was still in this body the next day, he would take a shower.
it wasn't long before he was exploring the rest of the apartment with a bowl of dry cereal in hand, munching on small fingerfuls at a time.  with sugar coated fingertips, he picked up a frame and took in the picture nestled inside - the same body that he was in stood at the center, with two people that were shorter than him on one side, and two taller on the other.  all of them wore bright grins, the happiness reflected in the photograph filling felix's own chest and making him smile as well, tracing his finger over the edge of the frame before setting it down.  he moved on to the next one, that appeared to be a family photo.  felix's soulmate sat in the center, seated in an ornate chair with a woman sitting on the arm of it, and a man standing just behind them, with his hands on their shoulders.  the smiles in the photo seemed fake, moreso for looks that actually being happy to take pictures with one another.  felix was reminded of the family photos that lined his own dresser in his dorm, pictures of his family on the beach and on a trip to the mountains and even once, when they went on a boat.  he could easily picture their faces in his mind, all sunburned smiles and a pure happiness radiating from the picture.  with a small sigh, he put the photo down and continued his amble around the room, stopping to examine the bookshelf full of records and cd's, most of the artists in a language he quickly recognized as korean, but could barely read.  it took him back to the time his mother had insisted that he learned her mother tongue, but he had refused, saying that he would never need it.  however, he did pick up the alphabet, and was using his small knowledge to sound out the words and try to pick out some words that sounded like their english counterpart.  after a few minutes, he gave up and moved on to the next area - the couch, with a coffee table in front of it and a laptop propped open on it's surface.
sitting next to it was a phone, still hooked up to the charger.  felix set his bowl of dry cereal down, scooping another mouthful into his mouth as he fumbled with the phone, realizing quickly that it had a fingerprint sensor, and that his soulmate - thankfully - had his index finger put in.  it didn't take much for felix to find the app that would allow him to call his own phone, fingers automatically dialing his familiar number.  a second of hesitance led to him deleting it, before retyping it, a cyle that repeated itself numerous times before he finally hit the call button, holding the phone to his ear as he shoved more cereal in his mouth, waiting for the click that would let him know that he was connected.  it rang once, twice, three times, before he was sent to voicemail.  frustrated, he tried again, and then a third time, before finally giving up.  after piecing together that his soulmate was in south korea, and that his own body was in his home in australia, felix looked up the time differences and frowned.  he was only two hours behind the other, meaning that it was nearing noon in his home country, while it was only 10 am for him.
sighing, felix flicked through the apps on the phone, tapping on facebook and then to his soulmate's profile, scrolling through in an attempt to piece together more about the other.  from what he saw, the other - seo changbin, he found out soon enough - was older, and didn't spend much time on facebook.  there were a few posts here and there, including a sudden influx for his birthday.  before long, felix had also located his twitter, finding a substantial amount more there than he had on any other social media - links to his soundcloud, rants about the industry that he worked in, and even friendly banter between himself and some of his friends, and even some of his followers.  as he was reading through a thread that the other had posted, a notification slid down from the top of the screen, indicating that an unknown number was calling, and prompting felix to accept or decline.  recognizing his own phone number, felix accepted and held the phone to his ear, listening to his own voice spouting a language that he knew he didn't know.  he told the other to calm down, slow down, and to find chris.
chris was their best shot at a translator - having learned korean from a young age, chris was considerably better than felix, and was almost considered fluent.  there was shuffling on the other line, before a click signaled that he had been hung up on.  with yet another sigh, felix found himself leaning back on the back of the couch, staring up at the ceiling with the phone hanging limp in his hand.  there was a silence that seemed to stretch on forever, before the phone rang again, and felix accepted without even checking the number.  he heard his best friend's voice on the other line, speaking quickly with the other.  in english, felix called for his attention, and tried his best to explain what happened, about his wish and suddenly ending up in a strangers home.  he blamed the whole ordeal on himself, but was stopped in his tracks by chris.  "did you not see what day it is?" the elder asked, prompting felix to check the date on the computer, finding that it was his 20th birthday.  his mouth dropped open, remembering what his teacher had taught them about soulmates, and everything clicked into place.
it wasn't long before felix and changbin were exchanging plans, filling one another in on the things that needed to happen until they switched back.  changbin requested that felix post a track that he had been working on, and actively promote it on social media until changbin was able to do it himself.  in return, felix asked that changbin keep his blog semi active, asking chris to help with translations of the content and such.  along with that, felix had a dinner with his family later that week - just in case, he filled changbin in on what that would entail, before changbin threw back that he had dinner plans with his friend group the day after.  they spent hours sharing information and plans, filling one another in on the things that needed handled.
when they finally hung up, felix lay back on the couch with another long sigh, and a mantra of 'what did i get myself into?', followed shortly after with a loud groan.

Thinking About What You Need In A Secure Messenger
All the features that determine the security of a messaging app can be confusing and hard to keep track of. Beyond the technical jargon, the most important question is: What do you need out of a messenger? Why are you looking for more security in your communications in the first place?
The goal of this post is not to assess which messenger provides the best “security” features by certain technical standards, but to help you think about precisely the kind of security you need.
Here are some examples of questions to guide you through potential concerns and line them up with certain secure messaging features. These questions are by no means comprehensive, but they can help get you into the mindset of evaluating messengers in terms of your specific needs.
Are you worried about your messages being intercepted by governments or service providers?
Are you worried about people in your physical environment reading your messages?
Do you want to avoid giving out your phone number?
How risky would a mistake be? Do you need a “foolproof” encrypted messenger?
Are you more concerned about the the “Puddle Test” or the “Hammer Test”?
Do you need features to help you verify the identity of the person you’re talking to?
We can’t capture every person’s concerns or every secure messaging feature with a handful questions. Other important issues might include corporate ownership, country-specific considerations, or background information on a company’s security decisions.
The more clearly you understand what you want and need out of a messenger, the easier it will be to navigate the wealth of extensive, conflicting, and sometimes outdated information out there. When recommendations conflict, you can use these kinds of questions to decide what direction is right for you. And when conditions change, they can help you decide whether it’s time to change your strategy and find new secure apps or tools.
This post is part of a series on secure messaging. Find the full series here.
Are you worried about your messages being intercepted by governments or service providers?
End-to-end encryption ensures that a message is turned into a secret message by its original sender (the first “end”), and decoded only by its final recipient (the second “end”). This means that no one can “listen in” and eavesdrop on your messages in the middle, including the messaging service provider itself. Somewhat counter-intuitively, just because you have messages in an app on your phone does not mean that the app company itself can see it. This is a core characteristic of good encryption: even the people who design and deploy it cannot themselves break it.
Do not confuse end-to-end encryption with transport-layer encryption (also known as “network encryption”). While end-to-end encryption protects your messages all the way from your device to your recipient’s device, transport-layer encryption only protects them as they travel from your device to the app’s servers and from the app’s servers to your recipient’s device. In the middle, your messaging service provider can see unencrypted copies of your messages—and, in the case of legal requests, has them available to hand over to law enforcement.
One way to think about the difference between end-to-end and transport-layer encryption is the concept of trust. Transport-layer encryption requires you to trust a lot of different parties with the contents of your messages: the app or service you are using, the government of the country where the service is incorporated, the government of the country where its servers sit. However, you shouldn’t have to trust corporations or governments with your messages in order to communicate. With end-to-end encryption, you don’t have to. As a matter of general privacy hygiene, it is generally better to go with services that support end-to-end encryption whenever possible.
Are you worried about people in your physical environment reading your messages?
If you are concerned that someone in your physical environment—maybe a spouse, teacher, parent, or employer—might try to take your device and read your messages off the screen directly, ephemeral or “disappearing” messages might be an important feature for you. This generally means you are able to set messages to automatically disappear after a certain amount of time, leaving less content on your device for others to see.
It’s important to remember, though, that just because messages disappear on your device doesn’t mean they disappear everywhere. Your recipient could always take a screenshot of the message before it disappears. And if the app doesn’t use end-to-end encryption (see above), the app provider might also have a copy of your message.
(Outside of messenger choice, you can also make your device more physically secure by enabling full-disk encryption with a password.)
Do you want to avoid giving out your phone number?
Using your phone number as your messenger “username” can be convenient. It’s simple to remember, and makes it easy to find friends using the same service. However, a phone number is often a personally identifying piece of information, and you might not want to give it out to professional contacts, new acquaintances, or other people you don’t necessarily trust.
This can be a concern for women worried about harassment in particular. Activists and others involved in subversive work can also have a problem with this, as it can be dangerous to link the same phone number to both the messenger one uses for activism and the messenger one uses for communicating with friends and family.
Messengers that allow aliases can help. This usually means letting you choose a “username” or identifier that is not your phone number. Some apps also let you create multiple aliases. Even if a messenger requires your phone number to sign up, it may still allow you to use a non-phone number alias as your public-facing username.
How risky would a mistake be? Do you need a “foolproof” encrypted messenger?
Depending on your situation, it’s likely that the last thing you want is to send information unencrypted that you meant to send encrypted. If this is important to you, messengers that encrypt by default or only support encrypted communication are worth looking into.
When a messenger does not encrypt by default and instead offers a special “secret” encrypted mode, users may make mistakes and send unencrypted messages without realizing it. This can also happen because of service issues; when connectivity poses a problem, some apps may provide an unencrypted “fallback” option for messages rather than wait until an encrypted message can be sent.
Are you more concerned about the the “Puddle Test” or the “Hammer Test”?
Are you more worried about the possibility of losing your messages forever, or about someone else being able to read them? The “Puddle Test” reflects the first concern, and the “Hammer Test” reflects the second.
Messaging developers sometimes talk about the “Puddle Test”: If you accidentally dropped your phone in a Puddle and ruined it, would your messages be lost forever? Would you be able to recover them? Conversely, there’s the “Hammer Test”: If you and a contact intentionally took a Hammer to your phones or otherwise tried to delete all your messages, would they really be deleted? Would someone else be able to recover them?
There is a tension between these two potential situations: accidentally losing your messages, and intentionally deleting them. Is it more important to you that your messages be easy to recover if you accidentally lose them, or difficult to recover if you intentionally delete them?
If the hypothetical “Hammer Test” reflects your concerns, you may want to learn about a security property called forward secrecy. If an app is forward-secret, then you could delete all your messages and hand someone else your phone and they would not be able to recover them. Even if they had been surveilling you externally and managed to compromise the encryption keys protecting your messages, they still would not be able to read your past messages.
Cloud backups of your messages can throw a wrench in the “Hammer Test” described above. Backups help you pass the “Puddle Test,” but make it much harder to intentionally "hammer" your old messages out of existence. Apps that backup your messages unencrypted store a plaintext copy of your messages outside your device. An unencrypted copy like this can defeat the purpose of forward secrecy, and can stop your deleted messages from really being deleted. For people who are more worried about the “Puddle Test,” this can be a desirable feature. For others, it can be a serious danger.
Do you need features to help you verify the identity of the person you’re talking to?
Most people can be reasonably sure that the contact they are messaging with is who they think it is. For targeted people in high-risk situations situations, however, it can be critical to be absolutely certain that no one else is viewing or intercepting your conversation. Therefore, this question is for those most high-risk users.
Apps with contact verification can help you be certain that no one outside the intended recipient(s) are viewing your conversation. This feature lets you confirm your recipient’s unique cryptographic “fingerprint” and thus their identity. Usually this takes the form of an in-real-life check; you might scan QR codes on each other’s phones, or you might call or talk to your friend to make sure that the fingerprint code you have for them matches the one they have for you.
When one of your contacts’ fingerprints changes, that is an indicator that something about their cryptographic identity has changed. Someone else might have tricked your app into accepting their cryptographic keys instead—or it might also just mean that they got a new phone. Apps can deal with this in two ways: key change notifications, which alert you to the change while not interfering with messages, or key change confirmations, which require you to acknowledge the change before any messages are sent. The latter generally offers a higher level of protection for vulnerable users who cannot risk misfired messages.
