Hi, my name is Gem.

I am 41 years old and live and work in Broadstairs, Kent, a town located by the sea. I work as an artist and specialize in pointillism and screen printing. I have a degree in Textiles & Surface Design. Previously, I worked for John Lewis for over a decade.

In my Print Studio, I have over 40 screens and ten squeegees.

I enjoy listening to artists like Tony Anderson and Hans Zimmer on Spotify while I work. I taught myself colour theory and have the ability to mix and match colours by eye.

Apart from my work as an artist, I also enjoy cooking. I am skilled enough to make lasagne from scratch!

🚨SCREEN PRINT WORKSHOP UPDATE🚨

🥳THE NEW DATE IS SAT NOV 11th. Same time and same venue @westgategalleria 🥳

HOWEVER, there are only 4 spaces left; I will be running this workshop with a possible Xmas theme in mind, depending on my student's feedback.

🥳I am thrilled to announce my inaugural screen printing workshop in collaboration with @westgategalleria on Sat 30th Sept. 🥳

During the 4-hour session, I will guide you through the traditional screen print craft, starting with creating your own stencils for printmaking on paper. With my assistance, you will print your unique designs onto paper and eventually onto your tote bag, which you can take home. Details below. 👇👇

This workshop is suitable for all levels, and all materials will be provided. You will learn how to create paper stencils, draw the design, and cut out the print area. Moreover, you will be taught how to position and print with your stencils to create your unique printed material.

Creating your own printed piece of wall art and tote bag will bring you immense joy, and the session will be relaxing with a break for drinks. You can find the link to register in my bio.

The workshop will be hosted at @westgategalleria , a vibrant gallery with over 60 artists and makers and a great workshop space. Hot drinks will be available on-site, or you can head to one of the bespoke shops along Westgate's high street. The gallery is easily accessible by train and bus, and parking is available nearby.

I am pleased to inform you that I am participating in the East Open Artist House, Broadstairs Trail once again. Over the next three weekends: 14th-15th / 21st-22nd / 28th-29th Oct - 11am til 5pm.

This year is particularly special as it marks the first official year that the Broadstairs Trail is a separate route, having previously been paired with Ramsgate.

I cordially invite you to join me and my sister, @amiblastockjewellery , as we proudly present our latest collections, work in progress, and products for sale at the event.

What is EKOH:

The East Kent Artist Open House (EKOH) is a community event in East Kent, United Kingdom. It allows artists to open their homes or studios to the public, showcasing their artwork and creative spaces. These events help artists connect with the local community, art enthusiasts, and potential buyers.

Artists from different fields like painters, sculptors, photographers, ceramists, printmakers, and others usually participate in these events. Visitors can view and purchase the artwork, engage in conversations with the artists and get insights into the creative process.

Many Thanks for the tag ☺️ Love the shot. Very dramatic at @turquoisegem_home Who loves printing? I am thinking of re-listing my print workshops again for the new year. What do you think? These would make awesome Christmas presents. I have ran past workshops before the pandemic and these where 1-2-1 workshops in my print studio.
