i wished people were even slightly open to liking matt. and were more open to the fact julie plec ruined his characterization instead of him just becoming an asshole in later seasons. :(
#i could be anywhere and they'll be so much matt hate#like matt's probably the most hated character in the fandom#and i'm just like??? luv there's so many other characters in tvd you should hate#AND ARE FAR MORE PROBLEMATIC#and the saint that is matthew g donovan#matt has flaws like anyone else#but some people will stan and forget problematic characters#if they're played by someone well considered as 'attractive'#whatever that means these days like#i love figuring out the deeper workings of characters#and like some people only take him as face value#just a character that serves as elena and caroline's ex boyfriends#and tyler's best friend#it's always nice to think of characters as standalones#and the interconnectivites between these standalones#rather than everyone being side characters to a few central people#as if these people are the center of the world like???#tvd is mainly stefan and elena's story yeah but that's not it???
