U-161, a type IXC sinks by the stern after being depth charged by US aircraft in the Atlantic Ocean -September 1943
Before she was sunk, U-161 had destroyed 12 ships totalling 60,107 tons, one warship (1,130 tons) and damaged five others (35,572 tons). She also damaged one warship (5,440 tons) and caused one merchant vessel to be declared a total loss (3,305 tons)

One thing that fascinates me is that it seems to be a worldwide phenomenon that people in the past have used rocks to paint, carve and/or hammer in art in. Of course the motifs differ a lot through time and space, but the material used is the same.
