let’s play ntwewy: part 1
Tumblr media
we start our journey with--
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
.....................we start our journey with two pals meeting up to hang out. our first objective is (WHAT ELSE?) to go to the 104 building
on the way, rindo gets a message from his internet friend swallow, who he plays pokemon go with. seriously.
Tumblr media
(i am immediately suspicious of this guy. perhaps neo twewy will turn out to be a story about stranger danger)
speaking of suspicious, you can also listen in on various passerby, including this group of randos mumbling about keeping an eye out for someone
Tumblr media
eventually...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so after that COMPLETELY INNOCUOUS EVENT they decide to get something to eat. you get to choose whether to have ramen or indian. if you choose ramen fret says something that doubtless sounded better in his head:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(i went with ramen on my first run but i go with indian this time to see if it changes much of anything)
(...not really! but rindo seems happier with the food, at least)
Tumblr media
rindo is really pumped about a squirrel, but i guess so was i when the anime started week 3. fret is rindo’s bestie/moot/oomfie/whatever but doesnt know about swallow or pokemon go? fascinating.
seems swallow caught skwovet in the scramble crossing?! looks like it’s time for an “”IRL MTG””
as they leave the indian place, they seem to be overhearing randos...’ thoughts??? but then rindo bumps into someone while texting and walking, so theyre not in the UG yet. probably.
Tumblr media
onward to the scramble!
okay yeah, passing by 104, they’re DEFINITELY hearing a ton of people’s thoughts. what the fuck! that’s not how it’s supposed to work!
THEN things get weird
Tumblr media
rindo starts having visions of THE APOCALYPSE and... well, what’s about to happen, basically. spoiler alert.
(yeah this definitely isnt his first timeline, is it)
suddenly there are explosions and they see some guys fighting noi--STRANGE MONSTERS which, gonna be honest here, look way better here than they do in the anime. they think it’s a movie being filmed, until they realize nobody else seems to think anything of it...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so fret fucking dies.
actual dialogue: “are you okay?!”
(fret isn’t okay)
BUT SUDDENLY
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and somehow, fret avoids becoming a pancake. cue opening credits!
alright, i think that’s a good place to stop for now? lmk if you want any of these individual comix rebloggable (or expanded on even) and i’ll queue them up for like... a month from now? should be good
NEXT TIME: SHOKA
part 2 ->

Two original pages, by a wealth of underground artists. Here’s the listing (from Heritage Auctions) from when this piece sold for $14,340.00 in August of 2014.
Robert Crumb, Harvey Kurtzman, Gilbert Shelton, and More East Village Other "Come the Revolution" 2-Page Comic Strip Original Art (EVO, 1969). Improvised "jam" comic strips were big among the Underground Comix gang, appearing in every issue of Zap and other UG titles. The guys (and on occasion, the girls) would really cut loose and go crazy, bouncing off each other's work. Here's a marvelous jam that originally appeared in EVO V4#44, and in addition to the names listed above, there were contributions from Spain Rodriguez, Kim Deitch, Yossarian, Roger Brand, and Ralph Reese. On this one, each panel is drawn on a separate piece of Bristol board (using ink over blue pencil), with each artist doing at least one panel solo, and everyone joining in on the last panel of page two. The boards are held together by tape on the reverse sides. Image area for each combined page averages 13" x 18.25", with each page matted to an overall size of 17.75" x 24". There are a few scattered small stains (mostly on the second page), but no major problems; in general, Very Good condition.

The classic underground artists sure seem to enjoy doing “jam” pieces! Here’s a classic example that recently sold for $14,340.00. Below is the auction listing from Heritage Auctions.
