The window is open because that's how Nick exited the caravan. Obviously after Ray just wandered in they realised they should probably lock a door for once in their lives but then Sand put the key in his pocket and that way lay danger with Ray "don't take me up on the threesome i'll cry" Pakorn around so Nick just Kobe'd himself out of the window.
