[Mousetrap finds themself in the shared game room not long after they said they would. They spent a few minutes deliberating and talking themself in and out of going to find Diamond. The last time the two spoke, it was on very uncertain terms, and Mousetrap had been half-convinced that they would not be a welcome interaction. They reminded themself that they did not have to say who they were. They would not be recognized.]

[As MT scans the room around them they spot Diamond sitting in the corner, on their phone the Jenga tower fallen over and seemingly abandoned. Their hair was longer then it had been when MT had seen them on Child Proof, also with light blue ends.]

[As soon as they see Diamond, Mousetrap hesitates and almost turns around. They shake their head to clear the thought and continue forward. They won't be recognized.]

He- hello. Jenga giving you- trouble?

[They speak quietly as they stop a small distance from the table. Their hands are in the pockets of their hoodie, and their gaze is somewhat nervously darting around the room.]

Hii, everyone! God this feels kind of wrong, um- breaking into his account and all, considering. I was right, by the way. All the Showfall people have the same formula for their passwords :D

[You walk into the common area of the hospital, despite the mold that on the floor, walls, and even many of the patients there are many people playing different games with each other as if there is nothing wrong. There's one woman, poorly playing chess, who has almost no mold however. Her bright red headphones stand out from the crowd.]

[She glances at you as you walk by in the same way people tend to just when they hear a sound or sense movement, then returns to her game, but she quickly looks back.]

Theo?!

[In less then a moment she's hugging you, but quickly pulls away.]

Sorry, I'm supposed to ask if you want a hug first. It's just- I didn't... I didn't expect to see you. Are you alright? Eating enough, sleeping enough? How's... how's everything been... you're soo much bigger then I remember... you've also lost you're yellow...

[She's smiling, but it looks almost forced. There's sadness hidden behind her eyes.]

[Mousetrap does not seem to notice the woman at first, but as she calls the name, he startles and turns to face her. Before they can process what they're seeing, they're being hugged, and their entire body tenses up.]

[They don't manage to say anything yet. Their eyes are wide, darting over the face of the woman and trying to process her appearance. When she takes some distance, Edgar circles in front of Mousetrap's legs to create a buffer. Mousetrap reaches down to briefly rest a shaking hand on his head.]

I- I don't- I'm... sorry, what- what..?

[They should recognize her. They know that they should recognize her. But they can't. Because this isn't happening, because this can't be happening, because-]

[They take a forced, steadied breath.]

[Whether it's happening or not, the woman is in front of them. And they need to react. They take a step or two back, steady themself on an empty table behind them. Edgar follows to continue providing a barrier.]

[This isn't happening.]

[There's a knock on the front door]

..... MT? It's uh... it's Star... again.

Can I... can I come in?

[Two locks click, and Mousetrap opens the door. They do not appear to have slept, or rested in any particular form. There is still the remnants of blood under their nose.]

Come- come in. Yes.

[They nod and step back, leaving space for Star to step through. With the extra space to see, Edgar is visible, pressed against their left leg.]

[Star is on the couch when you get home, scrolling though their phone until you come through the door]

Heya man, you were out for a while. I was almost worried.

[They grab their cane to stand up and walks closer]

You doing alright?

[Mousetrap winces. They were clearly trying to shut the door quietly to avoid being noticed, but that didn't work. He doesn't look very okay. Actually, it looks like they probably have not slept in several days, and their hands are shaking, leaning on the wall for support.]

I... got lost.

[There's a tone of admission in their voice, as though they don't actually want to say it.]

I- I'm fine. Thank you. Just- I just needed a break.

[The woman returned to her room after therapy to find her child - clearly panicked - curled up on a chair with a blanket she hadn't seen. Edgar had his head on Theo's lap looking up at him.]

Hey... Theo...? Are okay?

[Mousetrap flinches, looking up and flipping their phone over almost reflexively.]

Y-yes. Fine, thank you.

[A text is sent to your phone]

<Hey, you're at the park, right?

[A response, shortly after.]

<yes. I am on a bench, Edgar is with me. I remembered you will not know who you are looking for, and figured he may be more noticeable.

Mousetrap! Good day, Mousetrap. You've been doing very well, so I'd like to offer you more of a challenge. See, we just found a perfect opportunity to reclaim our most profitable actor in recent years, so of course I had to take it! I'm sure you get it.

Problem is, I don't know how to program people yet, so I need you to get it started for me.

that is veryh different from what I was doing until this point. I was helping to repair the drones, not reprogram entire peole.

[The dog remains firmly in place, even going so far as to progressively wiggle further across your lap and on your body.]

[Bwouf.]

[Edgar pushes his way out of Mousetrap's room and makes himself known next to you - on your lap if he is able. At the very least, his head rests on your knee.]

[Star had managed to fall back asleep by the time Edgar lies on their legs. They wake up slowly and they look like they'd been crying a lot before sleep took them. They rub their eyes, grumbling about how crusty and gross their face feels and their voice is scratchy from sleep. Then they start petting Edgar]

Hey, buddy. Is the good doctor here to uhh... help me out, huh? Here to cuddle me better?

[Star is Calling you]

[It takes several moments, but the call is picked up. There are a few seconds of silence on the other end before a voice - unsteady and quiet. They sound more uncertain than one might expect from the way they present online.]

He-

[They falter, and pause to clear their throat.]

I have been watching the two episodes of the newest Showfall production. it is... sickening, to be quite honest. the lengths to which that corporation is willing to go to get their "results" is horrifying to witness.

despite that, I cannot seem to stop myself from watching them over.

it pains me somewhat to see that one of the escaped actors has ended up back in Showfall's grasp. I have no way of knowing if she willingly signed back up or if something else happened, but regardless...

I only hope that she can get back out. nobody deserves to be trapped in a place like that
