Experimenting with colors I don’t always reach for today-like red. When I read my sweet friend @sandikeene shared a photo of her most recent #pocketjournal I had to share another one too. The reason? We made these while spending some time together in the mountains a few weeks ago. It is such a happy and special experience to make art with a friend. My favorite part about this one is the gold foil that I added through a favorite new stencil from my new #urbantexturesstencilcollection. This little Pocket Journal™ marks the 7th one I’ve made and I love how very different each one is. Each time I make one I change it just a bit and so now I have this beautiful ( and ongoing) collection of tiny art journals. I can’t wait until they are all filled up! How many have you made? A favorite corner of a favorite painting. Art offers us the opportunity to reinvent ourselves each time we sit down to create. I love the simple fact that no matter how many times I attempt to recreate something I always end up with something different. The inevitable twists and turns of making art helps to pave the way for new ideas and so duplicates are rare. I learn this way. I learn what I love and what I don’t. I learn the hard lessons of covering things up and letting go of what I can’t change. And I learn to recharge my creative self by pushing the rules aside and allowing inspiration to take the wheel.
