[20.08.16]  Dreamcatcher, precious music video “Scream” surpasses 20 million views with news of a comeback
Along with Dreamcatcher’s comeback, their previous release “Scream” has also been gaining special attention.
According to Dreamcatcher Company, the music video for “Scream”, the title track of Dreamcatcher’s first full-length album, “Dystopia : The Tree of Language”, has surpassed 20 million views on the 15th. Including views on the distribution channel, the total music video views comes close to 23 million.
The reason why the music video for “Scream” is getting such fierce love is due to none other than Dreamcatcher’s approaching comeback. With every music video, Dreamcatcher tells a special story. The music video for “Scream” wrapped up the nightmare series that they had since debut and drew a lot of attention for being the kickoff to the start of a new story.
On the 17th, Dreamcatcher will release their fifth mini album, “Dystopia : Lose Myself”, and begin their comeback promotions. As a result of the interest of their InSomnia all around the world, the “Scream” music video has set a new record.
At the moment, the music video teasers for “BOCA”, the title track of their new mini album “Dystopia : Lose Myself”, have been revealed and are increasing the anticipation of the comeback. Fans are increasingly curious due to the appearance of various works of art that can be used to theorize about the story in these videos.
Dreamcatcher’s new song “BOCA” is a song that tells the story of an era of irresponsible and destructive words. In the lyric spoiler and highlight medley that have previously been revealed, the song conveys a special charm that has been created from Dreamcatcher’s rock guitar sound combined with an intensely catchy Moombahton rhythm.
Dreamcatcher’s new mini album “Dystopia : Lose Myself” gives more to look forward to, starting with the ‘Intro’, and includes six diverse and colorful tracks, with the title song “BOCA”.
Dreamcatcher’s title song “BOCA”, along with the other accompanying tracks from “Dystopia : Lose Myself”, will be available on all online music streaming sites on the 17th at 6PM, and on the same day at 10PM, Dreamcatcher plans to hold an online showcase through VLIVE where they will be able to meet InSomnia all over the world.

Conversation
Introduction/Get to know Me!
Hello ya'll I'm Radish Dweeb, here's an intro to my kpop opinions. I currently stan 5 groups and am getting into one (txt). Here is a ranking of my 5 ult groups (Mamamoo, Red Velvet, Oneus, Dreamcatcher, Brown Eyed Girls) with my bias, favorite album, and favorite song.
5. Brown Eyed Girls
Oh my lord this group is just amazing, stage presence queens. I feel really bad for the kpop mold, the number of times beg has broken it is ridiculous.
Bias: Miryo possibly my favorite kpop rapper of all time. She just brings so much energy to every rap and has incredible flow. adjfaldjf amazing.
Favorite album: Sixth Sense. The grove in this album. Vendetta, Swing it Shorty, and the Sixth Sense are so good.
Favorite song: Sixth Sense. Miryo's rap, the wistle notes, the HIT THAT HIGHH. adjkfahdkfjah here's my favorite stage of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo_zlGxhRUI&ab_channel=TV-People
4. Dreamcatcher
I used to think girl groups in kpop just did cute concepts, boy was a wrong. The moment I heard the guitar riffts in Piri, I feel in love with this group.
Bias: Dami or Siyeon I can'd decide. Dami has the amazing rap delivery, but Siyeon has them beautiful high notes.
Favorite Album: Dystopia: the tree of language. This album is my favorite for the lamest reason, it's the longest!!! In every Dreamcatcher ep I always have one or two songs I just ADORE. (Wonderland, I Miss You, Silent Night, Sleep Walking ect;) but Dystopia has so many songs that just let me bask in Dreamcatcher. Black and White, In the Frozen, and Red Sun (the rapppppppp) are just great.
Favorite song: Piri. I actually first saw the music video to this song during a really hard time in my life, and it brought so much comfort to me. I was hooked within the first 2 seconds of the video. Dami's rap and Siyeon's "blow that flute/piri" (its in Korean, so I'm just putting the English translation) were beautiful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pq_mbTSR-a0&ab_channel=Happyfaceentertainment
3. Oneus
Stage masters with one of my favorite group dynamics and an increible concept to boot.
Bias: While Hwangwoon looks like water on stage and constantly overflows with confidence (he's my bias wrecker), I gotta give this one to Keonhee. His clear tones are amazing, and really stand out during ballads (Blue Sky is my favorite example of this). Also the guy is a goofball with amazing reactions.
Favorite album: Raise Us. We have Twilight, White Night (beautiful song), the meme that is English Girl, and my favorite song Now. Just amazing.
Favorite song: This is a cruel question I've given myself. While I can't say my favorite song, here are my top five favorites (not ordered)
1. Valkyrie: got me into Oneus. Amazing just amazing
2. White night: The "I can love you in the dark" has made me almost cry
3. Now: The chorus is a bop.
4. Blue Sky: Amazing ballad, the live version of this song made Keonhee my bias.
5. A Song Written Easily: In It's time is just a great single/ep (it also has Hide and Seek which is great)
2. Red Velvet
Welcome to the group that made my obsessed with kpop. It all started out with me watching Russian Roulette, and being shocked when I saw chick got pushed into an empty pool (rip Yeri). 5 watches later, I found Peakaboo, Red Flavor, and the gorgeous video that is Bad Boy (keep in mind this was my first girl crush music video, so I was blown away). The rest is history.
Bias: Wendy. She's just such a good person, there are compilations of her caring for members, comforting them, and even stopping in the middle of a sidewalk to put litter in the recycling bin. Wow, she is wholesome. Also, her voice is amazing. Her high note in Bing Bing, adlibs in Psycho (damn you SBS), and her voice in Cool Hot Sweet Love make me break out in a grin every time.
Favorite album: This is very difficult. My favorite comeback has to be Psycho (again, damn you SBS) with its stellar music video and the bside that is In and Out, but it only has 4 songs. I'm going to have to go with The Red for my favorite album. We get Oh Boy (Wendy's vocalsssssss ahhhhh), Red Dress, and Ladies Room which are all amazing. The variety in this album is just overall really great.
Favorite Song: Cool Hot Sweet Love. The climax of this song with the layered vocals of "we gotta cool cool cool, hot sweet love" is legitimately one of the most beautiful things I've heard. ReVeluv for life.
1. MAMAMOO
How do I even start to describe this group. MAMAMOO holds a special place in my heart, and I am so lucky to be graced with their amazing vocals.
Bias: Okay MAMAMOO has my favorite kpop group dynamic of all time. They bring such a fun presence to their stages and are so relaxed with each other during variety shows. They feel like genuine friends and I love it. Unfortunately, my love of MAMAMOO makes it *very* hard for me to choose a bias. My current bias is Wheein. Her voice is the backbone of MAMAMOO and has this gorgeous healing aspect to it. She has also talked about her mental health and publicly supported the LGBT community (which I am a part of) while just being a great person. I also love love love Hwasa (queen), Moonbyul, and Solar, but Wheein is something special
Favorite album: This is very close between Melting and Yellow Flower. While Yellow Flower has my favorite solo song ever (Hwasa's solo Be Calm) and the bop that is Rude Boy, Melting is incredible. Everything from 1cm (the offical Wheein diss track), Friday Night, I Miss You, Cat Fight, and Just is pure gold.
Favorite song: While I do find Egotistic to be Mamamoo's best music video (Declomanie is a very close second) Just from Melting is my favorite song of theirs. Just has a really special place in my heart. The "I hate you" has legitimately made me cry. MAMAMOO is a group I stand with my entire being.

dystopia: the tree of language - dreamcatcher (album review)
(a/n): this piece of writing isn’t something i wrote recently. it was something that i had to write for my journalism class last year ‘cause we did this thing where our teacher gave us different option of assignments we wanted to do (idk how else to describe it LOL) and i took the chance to write an album review. i still kept this in my google docs and ngl, i’m actually really proud of this one, so hopefully y’all will like it too!
Tumblr media
album: dystopia - the tree of language
artist(s): dreamcatcher
release: 2-18-2020
genre(s): k-pop, rock, metal
Mixing rock with lyrical themes of horror and fantasy, “Dreamcatcher” is one of the many South Korean acts that stand out from other K-Pop girl groups. Like their other releases, their debut album, “Dystopia: The Tree of Language,” brushes aside the girl crush style and welcomes you into their dystopian world.
Dreamcatcher was originally named MINX. They debuted in 2014 with five of the original members and had more of a bubbly and girly style. However, in early 2017, they debuted again as Dreamcatcher with two new members and took on a rock style and gave themselves a darker image.
After the intro, the album starts with the lead single, “Scream,” which features guitars and drum beats. A hauntingly beautiful piano can be heard in the pre-chorus along with the sound of an eerie scream. The part that stood out to me the most was the second chorus, which features Dami and Gahyeon rapping. With their deep voices, these girls stand out in the song, which makes them recognizable to fans.
The instrumental production of “Tension” is delivered a little faster, making the song more intense. However, the lyrical content is more hopeful, with the girls singing to the listeners to not let their fears overtake them, and they don’t have to worry about anything.
The rest of the songs are mostly rock, but feature different instruments. An example would be in “Red Sun,” which features synthesizers with a music box track. During the pre-chorus of “Black & White,” violins and drums can be heard, which fires up the mood, but as soon as the chorus drops, listeners hear a funky hook.
“Jazz Bar” and “Daydream” are a little different and are more R&B and pop. The piano in both songs gives them a chill and calming vibe, which gives coffee-shop vibes.  “Sahara,” has a middle eastern style, but it wouldn’t be a Dreamcatcher song without rock elements. There’s even an epic drop right before the chorus. The same goes for “In The Frozen” and “Full Moon.” They both start with a haunting intro followed by a drop in the chorus with some beats.
“Paradise,” my favorite track, captures Siyeon’s haunting but beautiful vocals, which blend perfectly with the piano, beats, and synthesizers. It sounds like a ballad at first, but the beats quickly prove the listeners wrong and take on the haunting Dreamcatcher sound they always had.
Overall, this album still defines Dreamcatcher as a group. It featured some new sounds to mix in with their signature rock sound, which makes it unique. You may not like K-pop, but if you’re more of a rock fan, get the chance to listen to “Dystopia: The Tree of Language.”

thoughts on Dystopia: The Tree of Language by Dreamcatcher
this album was recommended to me so i thought id write about my first impressions! cause why not!
for reference: i know little more beyond dreamcatcher title tracks and that one of their members has a name that starts with s? and theres potentially someone with a g?
this is very long and i get kind of gay so dont say i didnt warn you
first of all, what a dope title. Dystopia: The Tree of Language how badass does one, already very badass group, have to be? iconic, i love it, i feel like im in an angsty teen dystopian slightly-fantasy young adult novel (think the books of umber for those who know it). im already intrigued
intro:
god damn it this album has an intro. any album with an intro is going to be amazing because intros really do give the first taste of an album’s color and what to expect but also just sound so fucking cool. this kind of reminds me of stray kids? like a victory song piano cover? its dope i love it 40/10
scream:
the VOCALS, the MUSIC, legendary. literally such a good example of a title track. keeps very much in line with what i know of dreamcatcher (rock, strong vocals, contrast between soft and hard beats) but definitely shows a growth from deja vu which im pretty sure is their debut song. i love the rapper’s tone. this couldve been a really repetitive song but it does such a good job of playing with style and tone while still sounding very cohesive. 12098/10 would give 5 stars on yelp
tension:
sounds like an anime op and i fuck with that so hard. like what bhna fight is this the bgm for? maybe in demon slayer? i feel like this would just genuinely sound so cool in japanese and would very much like to hear it.
red sun:
sexy nuns. i like im in a church secretly run by sexy vampires posing as women of the faith and that is an image i can really support. seriously though, i think this is really funky and i like the percussion (my four years in band are failing me so idk what instrument that is but its the glockenspiel with wooden bars).
black or white:
exact quote: “oh. OH this is dope” these women have such cool sounding vocals. we love to see some good altos and tenors get recognition their time to shine. i love the fake beat drops? like that moment where you think were gonna fuck shit up, it’s just that “black or white” line and its thrilling.
jazz bar:
video game speak easy music. like let this play while i find that one npc character who i inevitably fall in love with during game play and then get crushed when they become irrelevant to the story at large. reminds me of postmodern jukebox. a modern jazzy sound and its so good
sahara:
cowboys? but make it rock and roll? ok very much so lindsey stirling’s roundtable revival music video (go watch it its cool). ladies i dont understand korean but i do understand that this song HITS. yes guitar crescendo! that staccato sa-ha-ra really hits different. kind of reminds me of say my name by ateez.
in the frozen:
this is the only bside ive heard! and it was in a remix so i hadn’t heard the original version before and god it’s like if elsa went through an emo phase. like let it go but make it my chemical romance.
daybreak:
oh this is lovely. reminds me of a loona solo song but i cant remember which one so thats gonna bug me forever. really pretty and helps round out the album. more interesting cafe music. legitimately shows their range and helps showcase their softer side but still manages to not sound jarring with the rest of the album
full moon:
the title of this song makes me think of twilight but thats stupid cause the book is called new moon but whatever. n e ways twilight wishes it could be as sexy as this song. this song sounds like what stephanie meyer portrayed edward cullen’s car to be.
outro:
reminds me of alice’s theme by danny elfman (from the liveaction movie). a little haunting, a little feminine, a lot good. not what i expected from the outro but i think its a nice, subtle closing to the album.
overall thoughts:
this album is incredibly sexy and deserves lots of love. the vocal and musical range is so nice to listen to and it’s such a contrast to the more pop/upbeat gg music that’s in the industry right now. this album sounds very sure of itself and like it knows what it’s trying to do. dreamcatcher has found their color and are making such wonderful use of it. i definitely have to check out the rest of their stuff :D

YTerview① “Dreamcatcher “Our strong suit is our unique story…we want to raise our domestic recognition”
The group Dreamcatcher has made their return with their first full album featuring a new world. They said they were confident that the album had great songs, great choreography, and great costumes, and hoped to be able to raise their recognition domestically as well as internationally.
At 6PM on the 18th, Dreamcatcher released their first ever full album ‘Dystopia: The Tree of Language”. Before the album was released, a reporter met them at a coffee shop in Nonhyeon-dong of Gangnam, Seoul.
Dreamcatcher members appeared excited as they entered the interview venue. The leader, Jiu, said “this is the first full-album we are releasing in 3 years,” adding that “This is an album we’re satisfied with, and since it’s a studio album, there’s a lot of songs for InSomnias to listen to. I’m proud as a singer.”
The album is fully loaded with 14 tracks including the lead track, Scream, an intro, and an outro. The album includes previously released fan songs and the solo track of member Siyeon, while being diverse genre-wise, making for a stimulating listening experience.
Most notable, however, is the fact that this album will serve as the starting point of Dreamcatcher’s new world. After concluding their ‘Nightmare’ story which they have told since their debut last year, Dreamcatcher now depicts a world darkened by language scarred with wounds.
“The idea is that there is a tree that bears white fruits when people say positive words, but bears black fruit when people say negative words,” JIU explained the world, going on to say that “we serve as the tree spirits that protect the tree to purify the black fruit.”
This is both a fantasy story and a reflection of the world we currently live in. “We tried to embody the joy and sadness that comes from words such as the hate-comments that have become a social issue.”
What thoughts does Dreamcatcher have about hate-comments? “We also get hate comments,” Yoohyeon, said, confessing that “though I don’t go looking for them, when I run into them, I remember them from time to time despite trying to ignore them. It’s hurtful.”
Dreamcatcher is known for music that incorporates strong story elements, but they are also loved as the girl group that turns in especially powerful performances. They told us that they worked hard to make their performance for the lead track exciting.
For the first time, dancers will accompany the group in the ‘Scream’ performance. “This time, we have dancers and we do solo performances as well as group dances. I want to hear that Dreamtcher reached the peak in terms of performance,” Dami hoped.
Sua said “I developed arthritis in my wrists” as she explained how the group prepared for the album, saying “I resolved not to be weak on stage. If the dance gets weaker, the stage feels flat and people may think that we’re phoning it in. So I knew we had to show off what we could do.”
Other than the lead track, the album contains B-side tracks of diverse genres. As members participated actively in the album production, they said they felt highly satisfied with it. JIU, Siyeon and Dami are credited for the lyrics of the B-side track “Black or White”, while JIU, Yoohyeon and Dami are credited for the lyrics for “Jazz Bar”.
They told us that the album contains messages that people can relate to. “Our B-side track ‘Tension’ is one I want to give to people who are fixated on doing a perfect job in their companies, for instance. The message is that even if you aren’t perfect, you are doing just fine right now,” JIU said.
Dreamcatcher hoped their album they have so much confidence in would help them raise their recognition domestically and score well on the charts. While Dreamcatcher is popular overseas, as seen in their successful world tour of last year, their domestic popularity leaves a lot to be desired.
JIU said “I want us to enter the top 10 in the charts,” while Gahyeon said ” I want more people to recognize us on the streets, and I want less people to say “who are they?” when we are busking and such.” Dami said “I want our performance to gain word-of-mouth repute.”
Going forward, they also hoped to be able to meet fans with more performances and shows. “This is a studio album with many B-side tracks, so I want to do a follow-up promotion,” Siyeon said, with Gahyeon saying “My dream is for us to perform at a large venue with a lift in it.”
