"a valid question to have, truly--" and from what she'd been piecing together slowly through talks now and then ( whether with him or others who'd known him longer than she had ), it was understandable as to why he'd be asking in the first place.

even so, it takes her a moment or so to really think about her answer, her head slowly drifting sideways until she'd landed with it in his lap instead.

never in her life did maya ever think she would end up in a scenario such as this, and yet, here she was-- toe to toe with a guy who actually liked her and had been trying to flirt with her for god knows how long. she’d just been . . . oblivious? that was likely the word.

“i don’t wanna, like-- ruin your shirt with this, but--”  she’s gonna pull him down by the front of it anyway, standing on her toes to meet him in the middle for the kiss. it’s dizzying, to say the least-- but then again, with such little experience on her part, any would likely feel that way to her.

it's the most intense interaction they've had together since their first road trip. maya knows that she's stubborn, she owns that. but damon... he was something else entirely.

maya hadn't allowed herself to show too much of her anxiety or panic in front of him since that first trip-- she tried to hide it any time it reared its ugly head, burying it deep inside as best as she could. but eventually, it always came back up, churning in her stomach and making her hands tremble.

her chin wobbles in his grip, but she doesn't have the strength to pull away, jaw clenched as one hand raises to rest upon his wrist, brushing her thumb against the pulse point.
