You sat in bed, nose firmly planted in the book you were currently reading; while waiting for your boyfriend, Vik to finish editing the video he was working on. He sat at his desk, the dim light of the computer reflecting his tired face. His hair was messy, from the amount of times he had run his hand through it, in frustration, never quite getting it how he wanted. His glasses still perched on the bridge of his nose, his eyes squinting from looking at the computer screen for hours on end.
You placed the book on the bedside table and joined him at his desk. You softly massaged his shoulders, in an attempt to relieve any stress that he was feeling. He relaxed instantly, against your hands. A small smile crossing his features. He rested his head on your hand, craving your touch.
“You nearly done?” You asked, as you attempted to make sense of what was on the computer screen. Video editing wasn’t your forte to say the least.
“I’m not, but I’m sure that I can take a break.” He responded, getting up from his desk chair and facing you for the first time. “You know, even when you’re tired, you’re the most beautiful woman in the world.” He remarked, his smile prominent.
“Now that you’re having your break, I think we should go out on the balcony.” You suggested. “Maybe have some wine?”
“That’s music to my ears. You go out to the balcony, I’ll bring the goods.” He told you.
You left the room and headed for the balcony, as soon as you stepped out, you were hit with the cold winter’s air. The city being illuminated by bright lights, no matter how many times you experienced this view, you weren’t sure you were ever going to get used to it. It was beautiful.
Soon enough, Vik joined you on the balcony. Wine and wine glasses in hand. He set them down on the glass table, and joined you. He placed a hand on the small of your back, and soaked in the view with you. A comfortable silence enveloped you both. You huddled more into him, resting your head on his shoulder. His body heat radiated against your skin, providing you with the warmth that you craved.
“What happened to the wine?” You asked, playfully.
“Sorry, I was just taking in the view. I’ll go get us both a glass.”
He returned with two glasses full of rose, your favourite type of wine. You clinked both glasses together, to cheers. Before returning to the position that you were in before, Vik’s hand resting on your back, your head on his shoulder. It was the most natural thing in the world, being so close to him. You drank the wine in silence, both of you drinking in the remarkable view that the balcony provided you of an evening in London.
“I just need to go to the toilet, I’ll be right back.” Vik said, leaving you out on the balcony momentarily. The warmth that he had provided, being stopped instantly as he went back inside.
You waited patiently, trying to find patterns within the city lights to aid any boredom. The wind picked up, strands of your hair danced in the breeze. It felt so magical, yet, Vik was still in the toilet, missing out on all of it.
‘Y/N.” You heard from behind you, causing you to turn around quickly. Finding Vik on one knee, wasn’t exactly how you expected this evening to go.
One of your hands quickly covered your mouth, concealing a gasp. As tears began to build up in your eyes, blurring your vision slightly.
“Y/N I promise to love you, as long as there are stars above you, and longer if I can. Will you please do me the honour of becoming Mrs.Barn?” He asked, his voice shaking. You weren’t entirely sure if that was down to nerves, or excitement, or a mixture of both.
You simply nodded your head, your emotions becoming the better of you as a few tears fell down your face. Carefully, Vik slipped the ring onto your ring finger. The coldness of the metal, becoming a sensation that you were going to have to get used to now.
He stood up and grabbed you both another glass of wine before joining you again.
“I can’t believe we didn’t capture that. Especially because you’re a YouTuber.” You commented.
“I did, the camera’s on the kitchen table, right there.” He said, pointing towards the camera, that was in fact on the kitchen table, recording everything. “What should we cheers too?”
“Let’s cheers to experiencing every view like this together, for the rest of our lives.” You suggested.
“Cheers.” Vik confirmed, the clink of the glasses solidifying your promise to each other.
