WHERE. Outside the Chandelier Club.
WHEN. 21:25.
WITH. Anyone.
Tumblr media
HAVING JUST EMERGED from the back exit of the Chandelier Club, the O’Connor pressed his back up against the cool brick of the alley wall. Admittedly, he hadn’t entirely anticipated receiving an invitation to such an extravagant soirée. Certainly not one celebrating the anniversary of Crane Tower, anyway. Nevertheless, here he was ; stood in the cool night air, a cigarette dangling rather precariously between his lips. The fair-haired male spent a solid minute fishing in and out of his pockets, a curse muttered under his breath until he produced his Zippo lighter, one hand lifting to cup around the end of his cigarette ; shielding the naked flame against the breeze. Had it not been for the desolation of the area, Leo’s own perceptive nature could have easily discerned the set of eyes on him. “ Word to the wise, ” he began, seemingly unbothered whilst flicking the end of the cigarette, watching the flecks of ash fall to the damp ground at his feet. “ It’s best not to sneak up on me. ” Taking another draw from the stick, Leo reclined his head slightly to blow the smoke into the crisp night air above him. “ You planning on spending all night lurking in those shadows? Or are you come out and say hello? ” He inquired, an amused expression crossing his features as vivd blues sweep toward the other, a lazy smirk sliding across his lips.

Eddie walked into the room he vowed he’d never walk back into --- but it was orders and an order was an order. He watched them weave in and out of each other, a look of distain evident on his features as he found himself backed against a wall with a whiskey in hand. Eddie doesn’t even look who is stood beside him before he begins talking.
An odd trait for a man who usually keeps himself to himself.
'’I just went to get a pack of smokes at the gas station and when I paid with all ones the guy gave me a strange look and then he looked up and his eyes got so wide’’ Eddie mutters looking down at himself as he explained the story, yanking at his lapel of his jacket that adorned his body as he snorts slightly before carrying on once again ‘’—he was all like “fuck” and then he just muttered a very creepy “you look like a really good dancer.” I didn’t know if I could get out of that gas station any faster.’’ Eddie pulls a face and raises his hands in the air, a laugh falls so effortlessly from his lips.
He has to stop himself for a moment and remember where he is. He coughs into his hand and re- straightens himself up before he begins to talk again.
'’Do I look like I’d be some kinda’ dancer? I look more like a serial killer.’‘ He states as he points to his growing beard with a disgruntled look. ‘‘He gave me the creeps, like seriously. Next thing you know I’ll be called a freakin’ school teacher or some shit.’‘ A smirk spreads across his face.
There’s a pause as he feels his brow raise. ‘‘Or better yet— a fuckin’ priest.’‘

— The music was wafting through the room, slow jazz causing her to sway only slightly from the bar. Hip thrown against the oak wood as eyes of diamond blue cast along the live band. Jazz was one of her favourites, right now the sound of Benny Carter could be heard — so effortless and real. Lucinda on the other hand looked like she’d been hand painted from the 20′s herself as the white dress fell perfectly on her curves, the diamond earrings dangling to create a perfect finishing touch; even her silk elbow length gloves would go unnoticed amongst the smile on her face. How long had it been since she’d smiled like this?
It must have been a long time because the muscles in her face were beginning to ache. Picking up the macallahan 55 from the bar she takes a sip, a small smirk tugging at the corner of her lips. Without even thinking she spoke.
‘‘They just don’t make music like this anymore.’‘ Lucinda says without really knowing whom she was speaking with but the buzz of the alcohol meant that she really didn’t care all that much. ‘‘What I’d give to have seen Benny Carter or Ella Fitzgerald live.’‘ She hums giving a small nod at the words that had departed her lips.

No one could say the Crane’s didn’t know how to put on a good party, not even her.  They would have been out of business a long time ago if they had and the place was packed tight with people.  Salem had already given up on making her way to the center of the dance floor, but she wasn’t standing far from it as she took in the music with a small sway of her hips as she let the bass move her.  A good handful of people had already taken off their masks and had them in hand or discarded.  Not her and the gold mask was still tied securely to her face as she looked over the crowd moving in tandem below.  Boredom could make way for complacency, but not for her.  Her eyes were still sharp and the hairs on the back of her neck immediately started to stand up when she sensed someone coming closer. Salem looked up at them and she could see their mouth moving, but the sound was drowned out by the music.  “Excuse me?” she asked them carefully.  Her voice sounded somewhere between a laugh and a huff of annoyance as she looked up at them, raising her eyebrow as she waited for their answer.
