finished antm cycle 2
-some of those photoshoots, as in most of them before they went to Italy.....wtf...... imo the one where they're in the harness over the hole in the floor is the worst one because it just doesn't Work. the water tank one is also just not good even though some of the girls made the picture work; it could not have been sanitary for all those girls to have gone one after the other into the stagnant water with fish in it. a lot of very weird challenges this season especially compared to the more normal photoshoots in Italy. I think the sunglasses one in verona and the final beauty shots were the best photoshoots
-that being said it was definitely a good choice to expand the "overseas" visit to span multiple episodes
-I loved when they had Betsey Johnson come on!! She was really fun to watch and I liked how she was genuinely trying to help the girls find their individual style
-interesting to learn that Sephora as the sponsor had a hand in choosing the winner- given what happened with Adrianne in cycle 1 I wonder if the sponsors wanted someone else to win?
-it's nice to see that Mercedes and April & Jenascia and Ann are still close friends :') also Shandi rescues cats now!!
-April was in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt ???
-lol has anyone seen Queen Bees, the reality show Yoanna hosted?

American Sign Language media content for receptive skills practice
Made this list because I really could have used it earlier on! My rubric is that it needs to include Deaf people signing, and that SimCom doesn't count (it may be present, but it can't be all there is).
This only includes stuff I've actually seen (or partially seen). Also, I'm including some warnings about what you may *not* want to watch, because again, I really could have used those warnings myself.
Easy (i.e. has subtitles and/or voiceover available, IIRC)
Mostly speaking:
CODA (movie; comedy/drama; on AppleTV+)
Kinderfänger (scary movie. Note that it has a 3.7/10 on IMDb. I personally liked it fwiw. not sure if it's streaming anywhere)
CODA (short film; on Kanopy)
Master of None S2.E6: New York, I Love You (TV show episode, currently on Netflix)
Wild Prairie Rose (drama/romance, currently on Peacock)
Queer Eye S8E4: Protect the Nest (reality TV, on Netflix)
CSI S11E13: The Two Mrs. Grissoms (crime show, Hulu)
ANTM Season 22 (the one with Nyle, obviously. I had to get this from the library on a DVD that, get this, had NO captions available. Not impressed. (The ASL was voiceovered))
CSI NY S3E12: Silent Night (crime show, Hulu). I found this one pretty ableist/audist (but it's hard to explain why without spoiling the whole thing - here's the summary if you're fine with spoilers: https://csi.fandom.com/wiki/Silent_Night) also the camera work sometimes seemed more interested in making the signing look artsy rather than making it legible lol
Sue Thomas, F. B. Eye (Peacock) - some episodes have lots of signing, some have none or close to it. Honestly it's pretty racist (the show came out 2002-2005. A lot of episodes are about terrorism, and they're constantly justifying racial profiling). If you can stomach that in exchange for surprisingly decent Deaf rep, here's a (probably incomplete) list of the ones with at least one non-Sue Deaf character, with a * if there are multiple: The Signing, The Heist*, He Said She Said, Girl Who Signed Wolf, Homeland Security, Bad Hair Day, Into Thin Air*, The Holocaust Survivor*, Elvis is in the Building*, Did She or Didn't She, The Fraternity*, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Troy Story*, Endings and Beginnings*. But yeah, I can't exactly recommend it, just trying to be honest about the pros and cons.
Switched at Birth - I really don't recommend this one either. I understand some people like it, but I have to give my disclaimer that if you watch a couple episodes and think "Well, I didn't like that, but maybe it will get better," lose that hope right now. To me, it only got worse. There is soooo much SimCom (yes, even later in the show when everyone should have learned to sign. Do NOT think there will be more or better signing later on). Daphne's actress has Meniere's disease; in a Reddit AMA, she said, quote, "Technically I am not deaf," so I really question why she was cast as the main Deaf character. Regardless of how she identifies, she is playing an experience she has not had; she isn't a native signer (she started learning in high school, not at age 3 like her character), and when she speaks in the show, she FAKES a "deaf accent". Also, this show is not as lighthearted as it looks, there are some truly disturbing plotlines that just get brushed over. Maybe you love this kind of drama - power to you. I'm just asking that if you watch a couple episodes and don't care for it, quit. Read some episode summaries on the wiki if you need to satisfy your curiosity, but don't hold out hope and watch almost 2 seasons' worth while feeling worse and worse about it l like I did. Moving on:
All or mostly signing:
Deaf U (reality show, on Netflix)
WHAT? (movie; comedy, silent movie; on Prime)
Blue Apple (creepy short film) https://media.gallaudet.edu/media/Blue+Apple+%281994%29/1_wke1swj2 also like. click around on the website. Gallaudet has soooooo much media available (plays, films, etc)
Scarecrow (creepy short film), also a Gallaudet production https://ssl.gallaudet.edu/videolibrary/?embed=16500 tbh there's not a ton of dialogue in this one, so maybe don't watch it if you don't like slow pacing
Don't Shoot the Messenger (raunchy YouTube series about an interpreter)
Barbie in ASL (On Max. It's the movie Barbie, but with a Deaf interpreter in the corner)
PBS also has some stuff with ASL interpretation. I didn't check everything so I don't know if they're all done by Deaf interpreters, but I recognized Jeremy Lee Stone as the interpreter for (at least some of) the Arthur episodes, and Lisa McBee for (at least some of) the Daniel Tiger ones https://pbskids.org/videos/american-sign-language-full-episodes
speaking of Jeremy Lee Stone, his Youtube channel is a great resource: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9HZ1JdV1Us
as are Nathie Marbury's storytelling videos https://www.youtube.com/@dawnsignpress/search?query=nathie
other kids' stories and resources for kids: https://www.youtube.com/@RMDSCO from Rocky Mountain Deaf School and https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhbEjnwOPpyIHotZrGLu68OGeEZlTuvbg from Texas School for the Deaf (some of these are captioned or follow along with a book that they show on screen, but some aren't)
a few nonfiction Youtube series: Daily Moth (general news), Atomic Hands (STEM education), Quantum ASL (STEM education - just a couple longer videos, the rest are basically dictionary entries), BEHEARDDC (prison abolition), Joel West Barish (travel), Rogan Shannon (queer topics), Melmira (interviews)
Sign with Robert (available for free on both Kanopy and Tubi): this is mostly just general ASL teaching, but there are some episodes specifically labeled receptive practice where he tells jokes and stories (25, 26, and 29 - for 26 and 29 they play the stories twice, with captions the second time so you can see what you missed, it's actually super nice haha)
her specific channel doesn't have much, but you can just look up Melanie McKay-Cody, who does research about Indigenous sign languages (she is herself Cherokee). Lots of videos from her all over Youtube
SoCal Stories (interviews with folks including Marlee Matlin, CJ Jones, Bernard Bragg...): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8T937th3Qg&list=PLwR2tgM-4_AYjBRvj3GWqWRjjMiZz_w8u this is part of the Youtube channel Convo Communications, which has tons of other stuff I haven't explored
ASL music videos: this list was curated by a Deaf person so I trust it https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLx1wHz1f-8J_xKVdU7DGa5RWIwWzRWNVt
Deafies in Drag (Youtube comedy series)
Reverie (short film, drama. Heavy themes) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiFWE6Mtpu0
Perfect Match (short film, drama / sci fi) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxE65yzMgyE
The Witnesses (short film, satire) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6u9iQ_hjXDg
4 translations of MLK's I Have a Dream speech: Richard Bailey https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5H2-3O-NJFg (no captions or voiceover), JC Smith https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUmdM965Si8 , Takiyah Harris (rough video quality on this one) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiyG_h1tnZE , Missouri School for the Deaf students https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mmxJByigac
Intermediate
Mostly Speaking:
Sound of Metal (movie; drama; on Prime) (the late-deafened characters are not played by Deaf actors, but there's still a lot of Deaf actors. Most of the signing is mid-movie, and if I remember correctly, some is not subtitled, while some is)
Children of a Lesser God (movie; available on Kanopy). The signing isn't subtitled (it's mostly voice-interpreted by another character) and also it was very hard to understand - I gather it leaned more toward SEE? So that's why it's in intermediate.
Star Trek TNG S2E5: Loud as a Whisper (on Paramount+): no subtitles; most of the signing is voice interpreted, but not all. All the ASL is in the 2nd half but there's still a good amount, I thought
All or mostly signing:
look up Gallaudet Theatre Arts on Youtube. There's actually a variety of levels here (of the two I've watched, Bunnicula has voiceover, but Midsummer Night's Dream doesn't. The audio/video quality isn't great on any of it). I'm listing it as Intermediate because for e.g. Shakespeare you can just look up the script of the play and have it in another tab to check what's going on.
Sign (short film; some sexual content) https://vimeo.com/157890479 I was able to understand most of this, which means it's a loooot easier than the Shakespeare, but yeah, no subtitles, no voiceover, no help
The Deaf Family (YouTube sitcom) (don't be fooled, only the first episode has subtitles) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1uuntQOPnw&list=PLx1wHz1f-8J9KzkK5lLO3z0wk64eUzo3Y
Not going to list anything hard because I haven't made it through anything hard, but bonus warning categories:
Doesn't have as much signing as you'd think
(ranked roughly from most signing to least signing)
The Circle, Season 5 (reality show on Netflix. I did really enjoy the Deaf contestant but I definitely wanted more)
Fargo, season 1-ish (show; horror? On Hulu) I only watched a few episodes but Russell was only getting like 5 min screen time per episode and i wasn't enjoying the show otherwise, so it wasn't worth it for me personally
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist S1E9: Zoey's Extraordinary Silence (jukebox musical TV show. On Peacock)
Only Murders in the Building (mystery show on Hulu) - I did enjoy this show, so for me it was worth watching all of it, but if you're not interested, you could save time by only watching the 7 episodes with Theo in them
The Family Stone (I did enjoy the movie though tbh. on Hulu)
Curb Your Enthusiasm S12E3: Vertical Drop, Horizontal Tug (TV comedy, on Max) Troy only gets like 5 min of screentime 😭 he's an Academy Award winner...
Queer as Folk S1E4: F*ck Disabled People (on Peacock) (Nyle is in it but I don't think he even ever talks to anyone else who can sign? He's mostly communicating via writing)
Not Worth It
What the Bleep Do We Know: we attempted to watch this "doc" without realizing beforehand that it was all pseudoscience. Honestly, I'm not even sure there was signing in it? I think there was a little
Wonderstruck (2017). There are multiple Deaf actors on the roster. But not one of them gets to sign *anything* as far as I could tell. (One plays a character who hasn't learned to sign, I think at least two were playing hearing people (I do support Deaf actors taking hearing roles, but not if you're gonna take that as an excuse to do the reverse.... which this movie did.....), and some must have had barely any screentime). Two hearing actors get to sign (also the signing doesn't start til like the last 20 min of the movie), and two other hearing actors briefly fingerspell. 👎
Intentionally Didn't Watch (the summary was that bad)
These included Deaf people despite not really wanting them to exist!!!! (think along the lines of forcing ppl to get cochlear implants)
Scrubs S6E16, "My Words of Wisdom" https://scrubs.fandom.com/wiki/My_Words_of_Wisdom someone described this episode to me in a bit more detail than the summary here, and yeah. not good
House S5E22, "House Divided" https://house.fandom.com/wiki/House_Divided legit infuriating

fic writer self-recs
I was tagged by the lovely and talented @titleleaf!
Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favourite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers.
I'm gonna try not to just reproduce the same list from the last time I did this (although I can't fucking find it, so who knows), and also shine the spotlight on some that I think don't get as much attention but that I'm still very proud of anyway!
(But also, the road goes ever on. It's always gonna be the road goes ever on.)
1. house rule #3 (MCU Thor, Avengers [2012])
“Darcy,” Jane says, firmly. “Breathe.” “I am totally breathing,” Darcy protests. “Look, after you offered me the job, she bought us a bottle of sparkling wine and thanked me really cryptically and I basically haven’t seen her since. And in that time, Selvig’s dropped off the map, and a supervillain calling himself Loki who could be her fraternal twin pops up and starts chewing German scenery in a helmet that looks exactly like the one in this book.” Darcy sits back in her chair, bouncing off the back. “Also, I told her about this professor who was a total pain in my ass, and like two weeks later he was on leave for ‘undisclosed reasons’ and he still hasn’t come back.” “This…could all be a coincidence,” Jane says, lamely. “Oh yeah. Same way that weird homeless guy you kept hitting with your car showing up inside that storm was all a coincidence,” Darcy says. “Oh, my god. I’ve been watching ANTM highlights with a supervillain.”
I love Darcy Lewis, I think the narrative voice in this one hits her sense of humour just right, and it makes me astoundingly nostalgic for the early 2010s.
2. definitely not bfu rpf (definitely not Buzzfeed Unsolved/Watcher Unsolved?)
“Even Scully took it seriously when the shadow government gave her cancer, man,” Bryan says, when he sees the glitchy footage. “There – okay, there are two issues with that line of logic,” Zane says. “First, cancer. That’s detectable by current medical science. It’s not exactly a matter of belief. Second, Dana Scully is a fictional character.” “So you won’t get an exorcism?” Bryan says, sounding defeated. “Bryan, my dear, I think you already know the answer to that one.”
Back when the Watcher guys were still attached to Buzzfeed, there was a really popular fandom trope that went around that Shane was secretly a demon. However, nobody seemed to have taken the next logical step - that if Shane was a demon, he wouldn't believe it.
(I don't write RPF, because I tried it and felt weird about it, but I just had to get this written, so I changed everybody's names to something that rhymed with the real-life people's names. Legally Distinct Buzzfeed Unresolved.)
3. Girls In White Dresses (Supernatural)
Mary’s the first to appear in the kitchen doorway, pistol raised, eyes flinty. But she pauses, just for a moment, when she sees Dean, and Jess’ stomach drops. Whoever - whatever - Dean really is, he at least hadn’t lied when he’d said he was Sam’s brother. He’s Mary’s son. And Mary’d just had to watch, helpless, while one of her sons died. Mary’s going to hesitate. But Jess can already tell that Dean won’t. By the way Dean's grinning, she can tell he knows it too.
I had to unfridge some of SPN's many, many freezer-burned women. Also it was so much fun to try to think up ways to hurt all of them emotionally as badly as the show likes to hurt its big strong men emotionally. (Lady Gaga voice) It's equality.
4. i hold with those who favour fire (Crimson Peak)
Perhaps she looks too long. Perhaps her eyes are playing tricks on her, perhaps it is only the lingering warmth of the body melting away the fallen snow, but it seems there are more autumn leaves gathered under Edith’s frozen form, more reds and golds spilling from beneath her nightdress and her hands and her golden head. The leaves flicker and dance, as though caught in a high October wind, though any such wind would be stymied by Allerdale’s protective walls. It isn’t until the hem of Edith’s gown begins to blacken that Lucille sees that what she had taken for autumn leaves are flames.
This one was written for a prompt meme where I asked for a character and a monster/mythical being, and wrote something short connecting the two. I should do that again, that was fun.
5. Boiling a Frog (Rick and Morty)
“It’s strange,” she says, tipping the contents of her cup carefully into the drain under the vending machine’s dispenser and crumpling the cardboard cup in one hand. “None of this feels really...real. Like, Grandpa Rick should be here complaining about how hospitals are breeding grounds for superbugs and how sitting in waiting rooms is pointless because unless you’re a doctor, there’s fuckall you can do to help anyway.” Morty suddenly looks uneasy, but Summer’s not sure if that’s because of what she said or because of the coffee. “I’m glad he’s not,” he says, and then looks horrified.
I broke up with this show when it became clear it was going to wallow and spin its own wheels and suck Rick's dick forever and that at least one of its creative minds genuinely seemed to think that was great and smart and good storytelling and if you didn't love it then you were just too stupid to appreciate his brilliance. But every once in a while the show managed to do something really interesting by approaching something heavy and awful sidelong with absurdist sci-fi and gross-out humour in a way that just worked for me.
I tried to do that here and found out just how hard it is to get a handle on that tone of almost manic energy with total black despair oozing out around all the edges. I think it really turned out, here, and despite no longer having any interest in anything to do with the show, I'm proud of it.
Also, I still love Summer.
I'm going to tag @daddygrandpaandthebeaver, @bixxelated, @marzipanandminutiae, @definitely-not-a-bug, @aquitainequeen, and, as usual, anybody who'd like to do it!

Do you have any TV show recommendations
my #1 tv show recommendation is to watch the challenge. i literally never cared about competition reality shows besides antm and now i am Obsessed because the challenge is perhaps the greatest show of our generation. i beg of you to watch this compilation video it captures the overall spirit of the show So well and it's also hilarious.
if you want recommendations on which season to start with PLEASE send me another ask, or ask sarah @steveharrington she's the expert.
ok now other shows ❤️ i'm not gonna mention shows like succession that are super big on tumblr or well-known prestige television like breaking bad or the sopranos because i'm sure you've already seen plenty of people recommending those yknow? so yeah.
cowboy bebop (anime). the live action does not exist to me. anyway. cowboy bebop is sci-fi. it's western. it's jazz. it's comedy. it's tragedy. it's about love and identity and bounty hunting and a little corgi. there's a reason why it's often called one of the greatest anime of all time. this kinda violates my no reccing super popular shows rule but i think people who don't watch much anime may not be familiar with cowboy bebop so i figured i have a duty to the people.
the get down. i wholeheartedly believe that the get down is the greatest thing netflix has ever produced and it's a goddamn tragedy that it was canceled, but what does exist is just. incredible. it's about the rise of rap and hip-hop, the death of disco, and struggling to figure out identity and the meaning of success in the bronx in the 1970s. created & produced by baz lurhmann, the show incorporates archival footage of new york and real people with fictional narratives in a truly masterful way. it's absolutely gorgeous. the music is fucking fantastic. it's So worth watching and i wish that it had gotten the same hype as other netflix shows like st, oitnb, etc.
speaking of netflix. american vandal. if the get down is the best thing netflix has ever produced, american vandal is a very close second, and i could honestly be persuaded to swap their places, but ANYWAY. it's a mockumentary wherein a kid named peter and his best friend sam attempt to solve the mystery of who spray-painted twenty-seven dicks on twenty-seven cars in the staff parking lot at their high school. it's one of the funniest shows i've ever seen, and also the only show i've ever found to be accurate to the contemporary teenage experience. it's also like... insanely accurate as a parody and critique of real true crime documentaries. also if you're following me you're probably an st fan, and eduardo franco (argyle!!) is in american vandal as well, if that motivates you any more.
xena: warrior princess. it's the best show of all time and also the worst show of all time. everything that people say about shows like supernatural and glee and riverdale? xena did that shit back in the 90s, they did it better, and they did it with lesbians. they did it with swords. they did it with aphrodite. they did it with leather and whips and clones and reincarnation and true love's kiss. please watch xena.
community. if you haven't watched community idk what you're doing with your life to be quite honest. just watch it already.
GLOW. attention all tumblrinas who like messy complicated stupid mean scheming sexy women. you will fucking love glow. sorry i'm recommending so many netflix shows but i can't Not mention glow on here it would be a betrayal of my lesbianism. it is about sexy women wrestling. it's got blood. it's got tits. it's got storytelling. it's got 80s music. it's got fucking your best friend's husband as a means of feeling closer to her. yellowjackets fans i'm looking at you. watch glow.
ghosts (bbc). not cbs. dear god not cbs. bbc. but yeah ghosts is a sitcom about a young couple who suddenly inherit an old home (manor? thing? man i don't fuckin know english aristocracy stuff) full of ghosts. it's a fun, simple premise, and some parts of the show can be corny, but the actors sell it so well that it's just a pleasure to watch. if you're into sitcoms, i think it's worth giving ghosts a shot!
that's it for now i don't want this to get super long ❤️ thank u for asking!! also sorry if this wasn't what you expected from me lmao. OH ALSO watch the muppet show. like the OG 1970s muppet show. shit slaps.

Hiii! I am definitely in the Spice and Sugar brainrot right now, do you have any head cannons for them? (Or just Spice, as I see your tumblr has much more posts about her 🥰
you opened up pandoras box here bestie you may live to regret this /lh
i'm going to list sutff and go into detail if my brain says so, if not it'll just be a dumb sentance
sugar is the smarter twin, she's not smart but she can do basic addition and multiplication which is more than spice
spice has the brain of an orange cat
twin telepathy is real and they communicate through looks
(specificaly for the college au) they both study fashion and are pissed they got put in different classes for some stuff despite sugar studying more crafting/design oriented things and spice doing photography
spice does not know how to talk to anyone other than sugar for long periods of time, has been known to just repeat stupid shit to get some kind of a reaction and gauge from that whether she's doing the social thing right or not
sugar is an inch taller, spice is 57 mintues older
they share pretty much everything but spice is very particular about how her wardrobe is organised (by type of clothes, then fabric then colour) and if sugar tries to hang something up spice will commit a crime ...she learns to leave stuff on spice's bed
sugar always has to help spice with her essays
adhd/autism twin combo
they have a tradition of watching some kind of show (usually antm or some sitcom they watched as kids) every friday. nothing is allowed to intterupt this. if it does all hell will break loose
they argue about the dumbest shit but always have each others back, someone called sugar annoying once and spice had to be dragged off before she broke something
spice is very capable of breaking things and has done in the past especially when she's emotional. girl is dangerous.
they eat more carrots than any sane person would, peppered carrots. always. only. the people who live on their floor wonder who the fuck is eating a bag of carrots a week. the twins are strange creatures
ok now i'm going into spice specific headcanons bc i wanna talk about her and luxx as a duo/couple/gay people:
no one is allowed to touch her hair without explicit permission, the only real exception is luxx or sugar. if not she will flip her shit
she refuses to wear pink, it's sugar's colour. same with sugar and red
spikes. spikes on everything. she just likes touching them
has an uncanny ability to just read emotions to the point luxx is a little scared, she just knows something that no one else does
she is always ready to give the bratz timeline at the drop of a hat, sometimes just does because she's bored.
scared of spiders despite loving the aesthetic, squeals to sugar to deal with them or luxx if she isn't around.
luxx is never concerned about spice realising they like her because everything goes straight over her head
it takes sugar pointing out that the way she talks about/looks at luxx is not platonic for spice to even realise she has feelings for them
needs affection to survive, very touchy. spice is the only person who's allowed to cuddle luxx
both of them have echolalia, spice mimics luxx a lot who will just mimic her right back. sugar tells them to shut up

last song: probably the view between villages (extended version) because im a Sad Bastard
currently watching: so much! tragically today it has been antm because some days you need mess/trash, but my wife and i are going to resume our boardwalk empire rewatch ASAP and i’ll probably continue my dark rewatch soon too
currently reading: the poppy war by rf kuang, but also juniper and thorn by ava reid
current obsession: the bo and jantje ‘verse with a special focus on 1899! its where i will probably be living for at least a year if not longer (probably longer since lost was like two years and my otp barely held hands in that one; the sheer amount of otp content i got from 1899 will sustain me for ages)

Pissed that i cant voice to text into an fmv maker app yet. I want to see "devil town" for candyland
Im annoyed by the game app promo that suggests lord licorice is a villain.
Tumblr media
Im not paying to find out more but let me complain about it anyway:
My headcanon is that he's an addams family type figure who is, like licorice, an acquired taste:
Tumblr media
but like, you go thru his house enough times and you get the swing of things in licorice land or whatever.
Tumblr media
Licorice lagoon ig.
Tumblr media
I totally think he fucks the peppermint guy but so does queen frostine and they have a sort of weird, peter greenaway movie kind of a vibe about their love triangle.
Jolly fucks everyone, he's like a roman orgy planner. I see him played by antm era james st james.
Tumblr media
King candy has like eyes portrait sneaky tunnel stuff going on and eats it all up like he's watching a sitcom (he has access to frostine's castle, tho they have entirely seperate courts outside joint occasions); this is like gormenghast except frostine is the one with the smaller lodge full of books:
Tumblr media
Mostly frostine is busy with the woody allen situation she has going with princess lolly:
Tumblr media
Grandma nutt is a cross between a poacher and an ornamental hermit and she gets some kind of twisted satisfaction out of people getting lost in the woods near her house, where she often "reclaims" their lost items; she may eat some of them, hansel and gretel witch style. She may feed some to gloppy out of a sort of retired-carnie-town solidarity. Rob zombie could direct a movie of this part alone. Or, an algorithm could generate a video for me based on prompts about it, i would set it to dragula. The players stumble out of the edge of the hallucinatory grove only to be swept up in grandma nutt and gloppys whole texas chainsaw/ hills have eyes moment. (This make sense as a narrative arc if your diy gameboard has more of a late game shoots and ladders component)
Sorry, this is the lore ive been working out with the voices in my head, theyre like well fuck, youre so serious about why wont anyone play candyland, why doesnt anyone GET candyland, its an imagination game, etc etc so like lets shake this tree, what gives about fucking candyland, freak?
Anyway lord licorice isnt a villain, there are no true villains in candyland, or they all are
Candyland is a home alone scenario where the players are a sibling team trying to figure out if there is anyone safe in candyland at all. It unfolds like an eli roth movie. The ending is ambiguous. Like ymmv, how much does king candy freak YOU out? I think he lets you go, but its like the perfect host
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like its this one obscenely rich dude's island-of-dr-moreau scenario except its an epstein style pleasure island and the worst parts are like full pink flamingos, if you wanna get freaky. Babes in toyland vibes i dunno.
It could be more like charlie and the chocolate factory but as a series of sex ed parables almost rhps style, since we keep pitching movies here. Greta gerwig could direct

finished antm cycle 1 here are some thoughts
-I'd never seen this cycle before, iirc the 6-9 cycles were the ones I saw when they were on. It was interesting to see how differently the show began compared to what it transformed into, with so many of the photoshoots and challenges involving real fashion brands and even nyfw (as opposed to some of the more...inventive costume-like photoshoots later on lol). I dont really know what went on behind the scenes but I wonder if the conflict with Wilhelmina agency + Adrianne's contract was what made the content of the show begin to drift away from the actual fashion industry? compared to later seasons a lot of this season did feel like it was genuinely preparing the girls for what modeling as a career would be like and teaching them about the fashion world
-Best photoshoot was the snake one and I can see how that one influenced some of the later cycles like the Swarovski crystal bald shoot. Paris lingerie photoshoot was the worst one :( not even the girls' fault it was just so badly put together and directed lol
-they eliminated Ebony wayyy too early...and kept some of the other girls for too long
-Now I want to watch Baby Phat fashion show videos I love Baby Phat

It’s a snowy weekend here, absolutely frigid outside. I can’t wait to spend this evening eating fast food and watching the heck outta some ANTM.
What food should I DoorDash in?

Season of watching ANTM endlessly and I'm currently on Cycle 7. Upon its initial release I didn't watch this cycle so I tend not to rewatch it as much as some other cycles. This rewatch's observations so far:
-competition was stiff! This was such an amazing group of models
-Anchal deserved better
-Melrose playing the Mean Girl role this cycle is funny, though when I was younger I really didn't like her
-AJ, the one who would have either won or been Top 3 but left early. As a fan, I wish I could have seen what she would have done in the other shoots
-I loved Twiggy when she was on the show
-Caridee!!!
-I loved the Circus theme

watching americas next top model dealt me such intense psychological damage……there needs to be some kind of class action lawsuit to compensate every person who was irrevocably warped by antm. someone call saul

I watched Tyra banks in my formative years from ANTM to her talk show and I think I deserve some kinda compensation. Like there should at least be a civil suit

'Cause I'm all about him, him, him, him, him
This has always been the craziest and tbh scariest trade of JL for me. His ability to completely take over someone's life. Look at Thinnie. She might not be "our" definition of a supermodel, but she had ambition and determination. Otherwise, she wouldn't have partaken in ANTM. And she had some success. Moving to NYC, getting an agency and somewhat steady bookings, even some bigger brands. Then she bumped into JL 2-3 months ago in Paris and look at her state of affairs now. Completely enamored and whipped by him. Her whole world suddenly revolves around him. And he doesn't even have to do anything. You've probably also seen it with your own eyes at shows and M&G. He just has to be in the same room, and some completely lose their marbles. He doesn't bent over backward for Thinnie to vow her. She's just allowed to tag along when he wants it. Eerily fascinating to watch!
And another identical example: EMBO. 👀
He has a thriving career and his own circle of friends, then he meets JL and BOOM!
Everyone else disappears and he goes from a finance wiz to a fulltime Lord Leto errand boy who runs after JL all over the globe! 🤷🏼‍♀️
And another example: VK!
She had her own friends and vacays before JL and her became "official" and suddenly she ditched her friends and all her vacays turned into JL's climbing trips! 🤷🏼‍♀️
If that's not a pattern, I don't know what is! 🤔
