Honestly, props to Brennan as a storyteller -
Mirara starts as this weird force of terror, darkness and alien weirdness, and that's all we ever see of her until this last episode. Now we care about her. We care about her so hard.
Just, 10/10 sticking to the theme that the "weird" or "alien" also needs love, support and companionship.

It’s so heartbreaking to listen to Steel try to reckon with the fact that the girl who is effectively her eldest daughter is an adult now, and is going to make her own mistakes. She is angry and sad and proud and terrified and hopeful for Suvi all at the same time.

NO WAIT EVERYONE SHUT UP
(Brain is hot with Worlds Beyond Number Spoilers)
WHAT IF THE STATION OF THE WORLD'S HEART ISN'T AS OLD AS WE THINK IT IS?
Think about it - the Keep of the World's heart is specifically mentioned to be small and on the outskirts of the Castle of the Wind and Stars, it could easily be a late or recent addition to the structure.
The fixation was the heart - the heart of a spirit amalgamated into the bones of a man.
Folks what if we weren't seeing A heart - what if we were seeing The heart.
There was something real fuckin' juicy (magically speaking) under the Cottage - and I think we just saw what it was.

Re: Worlds Beyond Number Fireside
Hey what the fuck (continued under the cut)
We were constantly told it was the Citadel that made that desert but DID THE FUCKING WITCHES DO IT?
SHE WAS FOCUSED ON THE CROWNED PANTHER'S HEART - THE CITADEL IS A BLADE IN THE WORLDS' HEART
Help me friends of the fireside I'm theorizing over here.
Also jesus fuck they were not kidding about the gore warning

Man at this point we're going to find out that Eursulon is secretly a double agent, this whole castle is a hive of secrets and duplicity.
As I've said this whole arc, yummy yummy loving all of this, it's better than TV right now.
Also, Damn Lou Wilson is clever.

Okay so like... Suvi. If you're not down for fandom brainrot friends, I will spare you.
Welcome.
I struggle to think of a more compelling and divisive character than Suvirin Kedberiket. Eursulon is having a moment of joy that is truly beautiful, Ame is mired in some really interesting politicking and all of us are fixated almost exclusively on Suvi.
Like, yeah what she has done is fucked up and frightening. She's put herself in the hands of an organization that has no moral compass. I'm not talking about Steel, I can't imagine she would ever allow Suvi to come to lasting harm. She can be harsh, she can be a disciplinarian at times, but I totally believe that she thinks Suvi can do this, that the risk is reasonable. But we're seeing a great plot point here: Suvi wants to help, Steel wants what's best for the empire. Individually these two mean well, but their context is fucked up.
The plan is to prove wizards aren't duplicitous and sneaky by being duplicitous and sneaky? This isn't acting in good faith to build trust this is treating someone as hostile, this is striking first. It's not the logic of people who wish to learn it's the logic of a machine that turns human suffering into profit.
Every part of the machine means well, and is trusting that their larger context is for the best.
Suvi has every reason to be mad at Ame, and I don't think Ame would ever wish harm upon the wizards. But both of them acted according to their context: Suvi is keeping the thing that raised her and empowered her safe, Ame is keeping the station of the World's Heart safe.
It's got so many layers and so much to chew over I love it to bits.
