One of my goals that's ever-present in the back of my mind is to listen to more hip hop and rap by women. I discovered Queen Pen through Blackstreet's song "No Diggity" (on which she features, and her verse in it is AMAZING) and either I've listened to her album My Melody before and just forgot that I'd already listened to it, or I've at LEAST heard "All My Love" before. Whether or not I've listened to this album (or song) before, this song is SOOO GOOOOOOOOOOD, and I'm also enjoying plenty of My Melody so far as I listen to it, too.

I want to find and read theeeeeem #I'm also kinda confused about how she's like 'I'm not bi or a lesbian' but she has a song called ''Girlfriend'' on this album #(featuring Meshell Ndegeocello who IS queer) and I'm like...so are you trying to tell us you're pan? ace?! or what...#not that's it necessary for literally anybody to come out if they don't want to. I just...have observed that #women in hip hop and rap are particularly dodgy when it comes to non-heterosexuality. which I GET...but then #we have people recently who utilize rap in their music like Janelle Monáe who is non-binary and bi/pan and they're out...so...#it just makes me wonder how much the music industry - particularly RE: hip hop - has changed in terms of how accepting they are #now of artists and musicians being queer. I bet people have written about and analyzed this and I wish to find it and read it.#particularly if there's any kind of retrospective included. because...well that is my jam. considering now based on where we've been.#Youtube
